You keep calling our forefathers morons. When the Zombie Apocalypse comes, they're gonna go straight for you.
We're NOT "too civilized" for Civil War. It happens all the time. It's happening as we speak. Civil Wars break out all the time. Maybe not in awesome places like America, but everywhere else practically. >.>;
And I think the possibility of life on other Planets and the way they may view Earth has validity to the topic of whether or not we should be united as a Planet..

Hmm ... indeed, true. But I didn't say that our forefathers are morons or anything like that offensive. I'd just stay silent on the alien part for now.
As for the rest ...
Basically, for global governance to work, everyone has to be not selfish. The current UN really isn't working so well as a global government because there is still more emphasize on slef interests compared to the common good.
Otherwise, many nations would have already pressed for the end of all conflicts and even jsut a little, might have participated in peace keeping missions everywhere.
Interest for the common good will result in total fairness for all in opinion and democracy. There should be no need for a veto power or anything like that. Every nation ought to be equal in level and rank, regardless of size and population.
Well ... probably in the nearer future anyway. But that doesn't mean we can't start over now and reform the UN institution.

You've repeatedly said and/or implied that people 100 years or more ago were stupid. That's pretty much calling our forefathers morons.
I don't think every nation should have equal power and rank.
What should be better is if smaller Nations banded togeather. It'd be less troublesome if we had a bit fewer Nations representing themselves... It should be like FFXI. Only four. XD

I never used the term "stupid" at all. "Ignorant" is another thing, especailly what I said about slavery during the Civil War part. But stupid, no.
Oh ... so the nations band together into a new bloc to be as equal parring as the other powerful nations on the planet? Well .. participating wise that would be fine, but usually a global government deals with every nation regardless of the bloc.
That's because the association bloc is not exactly a large single nation on its own.
And why must there be formal power and ranking? Like the UN Security Council veto? Can't we all be equal.

So uh...Just to spark some controversy here. Would you guys from other countries be ok if America took over the world and governed everything?

Same here, I'd be cool if America ruled the world.

I wouldn't. Whenever something went wrong, (and its a big world, something is always going wrong,) America would be blamed for it and expected to solve it. Our forces are stretched too thin already, imagine if we had to deal with more. I think its a great way for people to hate us more. 'If we had someone semi-intelligent in charge we wouldn't be having these problems.'
I think America should have lots of say, be on the board of directors and such, perhaps even have the most seats on it. But I think to give total control to the U.S. or anyone, would be a bad idea.

A heck lot of countries are skeptical of the double standards the US government uses among its various procedures. Plus, a lot of them are concerned of the American imperialism. So I'd place my doubts on a "No".
The US might be the world's greatest military country, but it still isn't exactly the greatest in everything. Your economy is in recession, people and the banks in generally seem to be not making money in the first place. It'd be better for the US to settle its own problems first before going to settle with others.
If US deserves to rule solely based on the reason of democracy, that's not a good enough reason. Economic policies ought be also accounted to.

Well Swim, if we took over the world, wouldn't the military of the other countries become our own? >.>;; And FanWriter, I personally think America is the best at everything, and we may have our problems now and then, but we're still better off than everyone else. But then again, I'm a patriotic American.

But we have the best human rights out of anywhere. And if we controlled the world then we wouldn't be in economic recession. So I think It'd be fine. And if it was just one giant country then America would be blamed yeah, but nobody else from another country could cause the blame.

Exactly. If we control the world, of course we'd be blamed for the problems. Who else they gonna blame?

If the US controlled the world, more likely that all the world's resources will be concentrated on itself.
And the US still has one of the world's worst social problems - symbolized by the fact that about 1 % of your population are prisoners. What are the odds that the US system can make them repent and start over?
And a thing I have noticed over time is that the US education system is rather flawed. The universities might be great and research and all, but that's only it. As far as I see, juvenile delinquency prevails and such because the basics of life and critical thinking and the emphasis on moral is never there in teh early junior and high school systems.
And that in my opinion contributes to the problems of US adult society. It's like an endless cycle, unless someone comes in and drastically overhauls the entire US system. But, that's already politics and I'm not going too far in there.
Correct me.

Who cares about making prisoners repent? Just kill em I say. <.<; But we have 1% in prison.. First off, 1% isn't much.. Second off, America is big. There's bound to be alot of prisoners. And kids being stupid isn't because the school system is going down the drain. It's because parenting is going down the drain. But that doesn't mean all of our society is bad. There are stupid and/or messed up people in all societies. And you people don't seem to be getting it. We wouldn't have to rely on OUR military as in the military here, or focus our recources right HERE. We'd be ruling the world. ALL of the world would be America. There's no reason for us to worry about that. All of the worlds recources would be ours, and we'd be able to distribute them wherever the hell we want. It is true that society needs to work on not sucking, but that's just because we have so much freedom here. Perhaps there should be some stricter laws, but yeah. It's not like it's just America that has the problems. Everyplace has problems. You just head more about America's because we're so big and awesome, and everyone wants to talk about us.

I hear Malaysia has problems with Credit Card Fraud and that Alcohol is a major contributor to a rising level in poverty. So its really not like your country is a perfect happy world or something. So seriously stop making the US out to be horrible.
I made this point to show that global government wont work because no country is good enough to rule to world.
