OH SH- POSTING IN HERE!
I just did a bit of quick research, and I'd thought I'd share what I've found.
One of the main reason that kinda prevented us from actually working on TotA:TAS was because there was another group that started releasing their own version of it right when we were about to start working on ours. I have just looked them up and their channel has been completely inactive. No uploads, no comments, it doesn't even look like anyone has even logged into the account in over a year... I think it might be a safe bet to say that their project is dead. So if we actually try and get it done, we can revive TotA:TAS.
What do you guys think?

Also the whole, "We suck at script writing" thing.

That really is the most glaring issue. We don't have a writer.
I do some writing for the Dissidia Project, but as an editor. Meaning I can write jokes and coherent scripts in context. I suck at writing them from scratch, however.
I wouldn't mind editing the scripts, and putting together the episodes on top of voicing Asch, but I feel like I'd be doing almost all the work if I had to write the entire scripts myself, and I just don't have time for something like that. This is practically the sole reason this project died.
Until we solve the issue of not having a chief writer, I'm afraid it isn't going anywhere. lawl

Not to completely turn the conversation in a different direction, But I'm going to. Why don't we start the channel off with something a little smaller? Start the channel with something then broaden ourselves, put up a let's play, or get game/anime/movie reviews going, just to get the channel off its feet and then move on to abridged series.
Could even have dramatic readings/dubs of the ZV rps that go on. Or do what we did a long time ago in that skype call where we dubbed over ZV comics.
I would personally suggest the dubbing of comics/RP stuff, as well as getting maybe 2 members together and review either a game or a show(watching one episode then reviewing it),
In the future, abridged series could be possible but I think at this point we should be more invested in other options.

Yeah probably. Unfortunately at this point the whole lack of internet on my part will make it difficult to participate in anything we do end up doing.

I had a random thought just now, particularly along the lines of Rene's idea. If you are interested in getting the channel going, and not just in churning out an abridged series, maybe a let's play or something like that isn't a bad idea. With a let's play, perhaps you could take an older game everyone likes and everyone takes turns playing and commenting on a level. For example, let's say Nightmare starts playing Megaman X. He plays the intro level while commenting on it, makes a video of that, saves the state in his emulator, then passes it on to Tony, who would play the next level. And you could just pass it on from one member to the next til the game is completed. It would be a nice way to get the channel started, and start introducing everyone who's involved in your Order of Awesome.

Zaf... Please never use PewDiePie as an example ever again. The only thing he's an example of is how to be horrible.
As for Xero's idea... that would be kind interesting, actually.

As for Xero's idea... that would be kind interesting, actually. it was what I imagined about Xero's idea, not exactly a gaming montage but facecam and such(well voice commentaries is just alright, it's not like we're gonna play horror games or something) and besides... whatever horrible pewdiepie is doing, it sure is getting him alot of viewers

Taking turns and doing one level at a time would be lame. You want this to be about a group, yes? Then I say we all play MMX at the same time, and put 4-6 screens together for a single youtube video. Make it like a speed-run and see if we can all keep up with one another. That's actually something I've not seen on youtube yet.

The problem with that would be logistics. You'd have to find time to get 4-6 people online at the same time, and long enough to play either an entire game or at least a significant portion of it. Not to mention getting them all on Skype or something where they could record the entire conversation. Then you'd have to find a way to fit 4-6 screens on a single video, which would both be hard to see and confusing to follow, not to mention that many people trying to have a coherent conversation and still make it entertaining. I'm not saying it's impossible, and it could be done eventually, but something simple just to get the channel going might be easier. Then you could do something big like this to get a little more publicity going.

While I appreciate the idea behind Swim's suggestion, I pretty much have all the same complaints as Xero. I just don't see it being practical.
I actually really liked the idea of us taking turns on a single play through. Maybe make it so each stage we rotate, and if you die you have to rotate as well (maybe if we wanna be less strict have it not just be when you die and have it be if you run out of continues?)
We could maybe instead of just doing a lets play thing where one person plays it through and comments on it as they are, we could to add more interaction have each person do a stage and then them + the rest of us do a lafftrax thing for it...
Example being Tony does Chill Penguin's stage and records it, then he, Ed, Xero, Ztrl, and I (or whatever group is doing the playthrough together) all watch it together and record our conversation and commentary throughout the run of the stage.
This'd probably be the closest to "One of us plays a game while we all watch and comment" we can get working over the internet.... We could follow Swim's example sometimes maybe though and do a say "vs round" or a "duel" or whatever we wanna call it, where two of us may do a stage or portion of a selected game and have a split screen or alternate between footage of the two of us playing (labeling the player of course) and the rest of us watch the videos and comment on/judge them and determine a winner... That might be a way to get some of that competitiveness.
This is assuming we don't work out something like say playing games co-op or flat out battling each other or something...

I found a video of a group doing a Zelda OoT speed run, and its interesting how a few people take different paths to pull ahead of the pack. Obviously doing a game like OoT takes more time and there is a lot more room for individual style of play than something as straightforward as MMX.
But anyway this just shows one way we could do a group run. We could put two screens up at a time, put timers in and jump around to show the different players.

Like I said before, while I still think this is a good idea, I think it's a bit much for us to undertake on our first try. We should start with something a little simpler and work our way up to something like this eventually.
