Unless you've been living under a rock, I'm sure you've all heard of the heated debate on whether illegal immigrants should stay in America, or whether they should go back to their country. Matter of fact, today there's going to be this huge rally from what I hear. Any thoughts? I feel that if illegal immigrants want to enjoy the same benefits as legal immigrants and citizens do, then they should get a green card, or at least get married to a citizen. Then again I also understand that it costs money to get a green card, and a lot of immigrants just don't have money. They come here looking for a better life, and I totally understand that. But I also think it's kind of stupid to be parading around on national television demanding rights when you didn't comply with the legal system in the first place! Not only that, we pay taxes, something that all LEGAL residents are required to do, and they don't. It's a tough say, it all depends on your views.

I feel like a cold piece of crap saying this but no. They want to live here and suck up all the benifits but not pay taxes or deal with the other parts of being a citizen. That among other things is why we're in dept.

I have no problem with people like you being here, I just don't think its too much to ask that you learn English and become citizens.

Well it's tough being in a new country and learning a new language so I can't say anything about learning english, but yea I don't care if immigrants are here as long as they're legal. I mean honestly why scream for benefits when you aren't legal to begin with? And that whole boycott thing from yesterday was a load of bull. They were demonstrating how the US's economy would be affected without them buying, but come on, we have to pay taxes for them and a crapload of them are on WICs and Food Stamps, so I'd say that cancels it out.

I say they should get out. If you really love America and want to be a part of it, you shouldn't enter illegally or cut corners. If it means that much to you, then you should do what needs to be done.
But I think that they don't necessarily have to be deported, just take away their right to vote. You have to be a US citizen to vote, says the constitition, so I say make them do it right before letting them vote. >.>;

Thing is, thousands (who knows maybe millions) of Americans ARE legal, and they don't even bother to vote. Those who have the power to don't and those who don't have the power want to vote. How stupid...

Slightly off topic, but my brother and the other DJ at the club were discussing things of this nature, and the other DJ thinks that within the next 5-10 years, they'll offer immigrants the option to join the military, serve a 4-year term for example, to earn citizenship.
As far as my opinion of illegal immigrants, I'll stay out of this one. Just thought I'd add that little bit of info to the discussion.

Well damn, never thought of that. Would that be a good thing or a bad thing? Wouldn't it be much easier just dealing with the paperwork instead of joining the military? Nah, I doubt that'll ever happen but who knows...

course then they'd probably have some immigrant come along work up in ranks and do some terrorist attack. thats why i dont see it. people are too paranoid.
but seriously if an immigrant comes illegaly and settles out and has great career skills then they stay 8 years and get deported i think its stupid. that just happened to bout 10 families in toronto. i dont see why they should get deported. i know you wouldnt want people with no record walking going. still it'd be interesting if there was a b etter program thing like a temporary i suppose passport and if they could get a good job then stay. after all taxes that get deducted would grow in the economy. (is there something like that? i mean be kinda strange if there wasnt) neways the amount of immigrants that come to canada is insane. i bet way more of them would rather go to america. after all its the cake. course those are legal ones. i think it still depends. but it'd be nice if there was a lighter way round it.
and ya its annoying when you wanna get a sub and they dont understand you.

stay.... but there should be a better system for earning citizen ship. if ya think about it, the 1st "americans" were illegal imigrants cas they moved to the US and took land from the natives illegally. either way, i say stay, buit there should be more means of getting citizenship. if they have nothing to ofer and will not work, then it's a different matter. however illegal citizens should = limited rights (eg voting... not human rights)
