I dont even know if I should get that, I mean it looks way nicer than the current DS, but mine is still brand new, it would be a waste just getting another one...unless I sell mine or something...*looks for someone who needs a DS*

Really? Small and sleek is nice! I'd only buy the DS Lite if it was efficient and worth it.
I'm glad I didn't buy one--now I can get one of my own. xD

Nintendo does this stuff with almost all of their handhelds. Should be nothing new from their front, but it's always worth a look.

On March 2nd, Nintendo released the new DS Lite in Japan. The market was starved for Nintendo DS due to the shortage after Christmas, and DS Lite was their saviour. The only problem being, there weren't nearly enough of them to go around. Nintendo had to delay release of the blue DS Lites until March 11th, due to manufacturing difficulties, but they continued with launching of the Crystal White model, albeit understocked.
This leaves would-be importers, such as myself, at a loss. If the Japanese have trouble getting DS Lite, just imagine how tricky it is getting your hands on one from overseas. Import retailers such as Lik-Sang and PlayAsia have had great trouble getting units to their customers. Lik-Sang emailed all of those who had pre-orders, informing them that not only would it take a long time for their orders to be shipped, but due to huge demand, suppliers were jacking up their prices. Which, in the end, meant bad news for consumers.
At this point, there's no word from Nintendo as to how many they have in production, or when they're expected to ship. But if you've ordered a DS Lite online, expect a long wait.
