Umm...basically I've developed plans for world domination. And in doing so I have come to realise that the only people who would stand in my way would be an army of republicans. Therefore, I am a republican in most of my political ideas.

... Anyone would be fine as long as he or she brings out the US from impending doom of recession or the turmoil of the 1929 Depression.

Uhh. I'm not sure what relevence that has, but okay.
As far as political parties go, I believe in voting for whoever you agree with, as far as the issues go, not just solely on party. As you saw from that survey above, I agree more with the Republican party on issues, so naturally I'd vote Republican.
Well, I guess I shouldn't say that. In a perfect world, I'd naturally vote Republican. Nowdays, as far as candidates go, it really depends on the person. Just because a candidate is a Republican, doesn't mean they share all the same views on the issues I do, even if a majority of the Republican party does. Take McCain for example. Alot of his views kinda piss me off, and honestly, I'd rather not vote for him. (but I will though, because from what I can see, he's still the lesser of two evils)
Anyways. I perfer it when people have more of a 75% one way, 25% the other way, or something like that. Because people who are 100% one way or the other are usually just going along with the crowd, cause it's REALLY unlikely that someone will agree with EVERYTHING a group of people says. I also really hate people that are 50/50. Cause as far as I'm concerned, people who say they're completely neutral are just people who have no opinion of their own and are saying that just to make other people happy (and when it comes to the leaders of your country, you don't screw around just to look good in front of your friends) Though not all neutral people are opinionless idiots. There's bound to be a few out there that REALLY can't decide. But that's pretty rare.
But I honestly think we need to stop this ridiculous "Republicans vs Democrats" bullshit. George Washington said that he wished that the American people wouldn't divide like this. He didn't want us to seperate ourselves into parties. He wanted us to stay united. But we didn't. And look where it's gotten us? There are alot of people out there who absolutely hate each other because they're "on the wrong side of the fence." Which is completely asanine. Disliking someone because they think differently than you is absurd and ignorant.
I, for one, would be in great support for a move to eliminate these parties, and unite us. I'd rather have a President that I didn't agree with 100%, but everyone could like, than us dividing and competing over who's right, and getting bitter when we lose. I think that would make America a much better place.
But unfortunately, I don't see that happening. It would kinda rob us of our Constitutional right, which is a big "No." Still though, I don't think it could hurt.
But until then, I'm gonna stick with whoever I agree with more, which for awhile now, and currently still is, the Republicans. Though I'm not adamant about my party affiliation. If the Democrats become cool again, like they were in the days of JFK, and more Republicans become like McCain, that could easily change. >.>;

I agree.
Any person or leader who can the ability to lead and, as Obama puts it, transform the nation into something better for the better sakes of everyone can assume the post of the US President.
What happened to the nice days of Washington, Lincoln and Roosevelt? They are not known for their political affliation, but for their leadership skills. Maybe even Reagan too.
But what can we do? A political party is still necessary to carry the leader somewhere. But I agree that there's too much emphasis on the party-party divide and less on the personality and leadership issue.
But that's just me.

Funny how Lincoln and Regan are easily recognized as two of our nations greatest Presidents, for their leadership and good decisions. And both Republican. And got shot.... Just goes to show you that Republicans are good leaders and Democrats are sore losers with an itchy trigger-finger. XD
But seriously, this nation needs a good "War President." George Bush is a good guy, and he was the right Choice at the time he was Elected considering the issues at the time, but he's not really well suited to lead us in war. We need a strong leader who can strike with deadly force and bring the war to a close. Then hopefully we can focus alot more of our attention on issues here at home.
Alot of people nowdays want a President who'll just take us out of the war. That's a good way to f**k us over in the long run. We don't need a liberal p***y who'll just make us back out, we need a strong leader who'll get the job done quickly and efficiently.
But I guess such discussion is better suited for a "Which Candidate" kinda thread. We need to make sure and make those once the final two runners are decided.

Not really, as I said before, people think to focus on their personalities and leadership skills the moment you say Lincoln or Washington or Roosevelt, rather than their political affiliation.
As for the rest - nothing much to say.
