Mega Man 9 Set for WiiWare Looks like the Blue Bomber is going back to his roots. by Daemon Hatfield
June 26, 2008 - Our ears perked up last week when we saw Capcom had filed the title Mega Man 9 with Australia's Classification Review Board (down under's version of the Entertainment Software Ratings Board). It's been over ten years since we were blessed with a proper new Mega Man game. Now it looks like the next entry in the series is set for Nintendo's WiiWare service.
Fansite The Mega Man Network has gotten its hands on a couple (blurry) scans from the next issue of Nintendo Power. The screenshots look like the classic 8-bit Mega Man we all know and love. Capcom is apparently going old school with this one. Mega Man Network lists the following robot bad guys:
Magma Man Galaxy Man Jewel Man Concrete Man Hornet Man Plug Man Tornado Man Splash WOMAN (although this isn't confirmed, yet)
Mega Man 9 is being developed by Inti Creates, a team made up of former Capcom devs that brought us the first three Mega Man X games, Mega Man Zero, and the Mega Man ZX series.

Now its confirmed though. If there is a female robot master... I wonder how Bass is going to take that... I'm so excited to finally see how Light, Proto and everyone dies. Should be a great time.

As I said when we talked about it in the chat, I doubt this will conclude the story and tie up the loose ends. I don't think Capcom is that kind.
But one can hope. I'm just not gonna get my hopes up. XD

You know, Swim made out a great point. Will Megaman 9 end what that is supposed to end? Or create more plotholes for more development, which happens to be worse?
I'm not going to put up my hopes as well. One, is because the higher your hopes are, the higher the disappointment you'll get. Second, it's because I don't own a Wii. T.T

So far Inti Creates has been really good about the storyline, so I can only hope that they will do the same for this game.

Yay, it has been confirmed.
Everyone who has a Wii rejoice. Likewise, however, don't get hopes too high that it will connect to our favourite X and Zero.
However, seeing that it goes back to the original root of classics, do you suppose any terms of dialogue would resemble that of Megaman 4 and 6?
Now, with a plot of robots dying, it makes you wonder how they'd make the graphics aside of 8-bit presentation.

Fann, you gave me a hint about megaman 9 looking like Megaman Legends. So far Inti Creates has been really good about the storyline, so I can only hope that they will do the same for this game. If that's the case, it's okay. But if Megaman 9 isn't the last one of the series, then we'll have all our hopes down and wait for what seems to be many years for a Megaman 10. Although Megaman X is equals to Megaman 10 in some sense.

Try and play back Megaman 4 and 6 in the Classic Collection again, then you know what I mean about the dialogue part.
I won't go so far to equate MM10 to X1, as the idea is a bit far though.

But it does makes sense in some ways. I believe some of us, or to be more general, plenty of Megaman fans around the world assume that Megaman 10 is actually Megaman X1. It could turn out to be unreasonable, but if it really is so, that means Megaman 9 is indeed the last of its kind. More anticipation and suspense arise. And they're loving it. Badly. I admit that I'm one of them, but i'm cooler and least anticipating. xD
But to think about it, does Megaman Zero 1 equals to Megaman X10? <__<

In an extremely strange way it does make sense because th roman numberal for 10 is X.. but it may only be coincidence, who knows if they'll continue with the classic series after this game.
But speaking of continuation, think back to all the endings of The Power Battles. Can anyone else see Duo returning? And possibly being killed by Zero?

Just because the Roman numeral is the same, it doesn't mean the game itself has the necessary plotwise continuation elements to be legitimate as Megaman 10. Plus, they already said there won't be the plot-connection event in MM9.
The only thing you can do is speculate more and more until offiical stuff comes out.
... who knows whatever happened to Duo. He'd be back in MM9 if Inafune wants him to.
UPDATE
MM9 has been informed by Capcom as a correction that it is only available to the WiiWare for now. Any changes to this is subject solely by Capcom.
Like MMNT puts it, blame misinformation on Dr Wily.

I know its probably only coincidence. That's all I said it was. I also know Duo will be back if they want him to be back. What I was doing was called speculating, thanks for the great advice.

Just repeating it in case other people misinterpret our discussion, part of it, as fact.
UPDATE
Word has it now MM9 is available on Xbox. I think someone is messing with our heads. CHeck out MMNT ... and the new black Rockman form.
