Yakitate Japan, meaning freshly baked Ja-Pan, and Ja-Pan being the name for an authentic Japanese bread in this series, is a brand new show of the 2006 to 2007 about a boy's quest to bake ... the perfect Japanese bread. The anime series spawned 69 episodes whereas the serialized manga ended in January or so 2007, resulting in the last arc cut short from a 25!! to a 9!! The manga itself may be viewed in onemanga.com But nonetheless, for any people who enjoy jokes and comedy related to the various connected Japanese syllables of words and as those related to the bakery industry itself, it is a good and promising watch nonetheless. Despite the various funny reactions of the judges and common folk to our protagonist (Kazuma Azuma)'s bread, much of the bread featured in the show and the refined taste of Japanese people to culinary tastes and looks are truly real. It is said that in Japan, they truly judge the outer appearance of the food and they enjoy food so much as to really exclaim out its wonderful tastes upon contact with the tongue. Here are continuing clips of Episodes 1 and 2 of the series for a sneak preview as to what this show is all about. Of course, complete with the subs from the responsible people. Episode 1 Episode 2 Yakitate!! Ja-Pan is a promising and wonderful show to watch, and even those who were initially not interested (I was until the commercial ads convinced me otherwise) will definitely enjoy this long series.

Wow, it's been awfully long since a reply came in. Eh, if you wish to read more ahead, just remember the chapter you last read and head on to http;//www.onemanga.com to read everything else. Unfortunately, no sites seem to be scanlating it now though. Good luck with that cosplay of yours. Maybe you can be Tsukino as well.

I've been reading the manga and watching the anime of this. Volume 16, and episode 14. It's one of my favorites.

I watched all 69 episodes on Animax. Haha. I'm reading the manga by scanlations, which by now is horribly inactive, and as such, am currently stuck at the final baking arc.
It's nice to hear from someone.
