An old argument.
For those who don't know, New Order is what's left of Joy Division after Ian Curtis died.
People tend to say that New Order is more of a dance band, but I can't even picture people dancing to their music :/
I enjoy New Order more, because of the key patterns they use and the vocals sound more.. eh... drowny, for lack of a better word. It's just personal preference and I'm just wondering what you think.
Shoot.

Joy Division and New Order are very different bands, I do like both of them. However, I have to say Joy Division hands down. Ian Curtis wrote very emotionally driven lyrics many of which gave insight into his depression and suicidal thoughts. A good example is in the song Shadowplay, "In the Shadow play acting out your own death knowing no more." I have a great amount of respect for Ian Curtis because he was able to express his depression and other issues musically, which is what I think all musicians should be doing, making music from their souls. Yes that sounds incredibly cheesy, however, that is why I like Joy Division more. Not to say that New Order isn't making music from their hearts or whatever, but it still can't compare.

I'm ashamed to say I've never payed any attention to Curtis's lyrics(I only really pay attention to MBV's, Massive Attack's, Lenard Cohen's and Morrissey's lyrics usually). Upon paying attention.. XP.. I am agreeing with you, but musically I'm still finding New Order more attractive.
