Lmao, you went as far as changing your identity to prove your moot point? Shadow is garbage. I don't care how much you try reasoning with me, he's just ass. I posted my awesome reasoning 4 posts ago. Every one liner he utters is ripped straight from the "I've heard that already" book, and furthermore, anything he says is drenched in that self grieving relish that he pours so generously onto everything.
Edit: But good job getting the same exact fight scene as your ava. haha

I noticed that they had a second character slot. They also mention the Homing Attack and use the "Eggman" alias other than Robotnik. How many Sonic fans are going to say that it's already betrayed them?

I'm always going to like Robotnik better, since that's the name I grew up with, but eh, it's a small gripe. As long as the core gameplay remains intact and they don't add any unnecessary characters, this should be an excellent game.

Every one liner he utters is ripped straight from the "I've heard that already" book, and furthermore, anything he says is drenched in that self grieving relish that he pours so generously onto everything. Edit: But good job getting the same exact fight scene as your ava. haha Nah, I didn't do it to try and prove any point, I just like aggroing you cause you make it so easy. It's the only reason I brought up Shadow in the first place, cause I knew you'd bitch if I did. XD But if you wanna see me trying to prove a point, then... Shadow may be a cliche, but every single Sonic character is. - Sonic is the "Hey, I'm lazy, and I do things the way I want" guy. We've all seen a million of those.
- Tails is the "Brainy, young genius" sidekick. As if that's anything new.
- Knuckles is the "Short tempered musclehead" guy. Cause that's original, right?
- Eggman/Robotnik is the "Evil mad scientist who wants to take over the world, but can't seem to catch a break" guy. Just like every other villain for the past 30 years.
- Rouge is the "Sexy spy" chick, again, been seeing those since the 50s.
- And Shadow is the "Dark, brooding, kinda like the hero but darker anti-hero" guy. Yes, we've seen more of those than we can count too.
The point isn't whether or not the characters are original. In fact, I think the cliches are part of their charm and probably were intentional. They're all familiar characters, which make them easy to identify with. If you wanna knock on Shadow for his name, well, have you seen everybody elses names? Sonic is fast, call him Sonic. Tails has tails, call him Tails. Knuckles has pointy knuckles, call him Knuckles. Robotnik is shaped like an egg, let's call him Eggman now. Shadow is black, let's call him Shadow. Hell, putting it that way, Shadow has a more original name than half the cast. XD If you wanna knock on Shadow because of being emo... Well... I'd call that bad writing on Sega's part. Everybody's been going downhill since Sonic Adventure 2 (isn't to say all the games after that are utter crap, but none have been as good as SA2.) Including Shadow, including Sonic. My point is, as a character, Shadow isn't any less original, or badly written than anyone else. So when it comes right down to it, it's a matter of personal preference, and that's it. And personally, I think Shadow is badass. =P And I think we might be getting just a little off topic here, so let's try and at least mention Sonic 4 now and then if we're gonna continue this discussion. In regard to what Fusion said, I think it's kinda weird they're gonna be calling him Eggman in this one, if it's supposed to follow the continuity of Sonic 3, since the Eggman name was kinda adopted in Sonic Adventure. However, it could just be your source that's wrong, since in the original Japanese games, he was indeed "Doctor Eggman" from the very beginning. So if your source is Japanese or something, then the name "Eggman" coming up doesn't really mean anything. Also, I know it's supposed to be going back to Sonic's roots, but I'd like to see at least Tails and Knuckles in this one. When my brother, sister, and I were little, we'd play Sonic 3 and Knuckles all the time, and our thing was Richard was Sonic, Kathryn was Tails, and I was Knuckles. XD That being said, needs more Shadow.

Ergo, Sonic + Xero = Shadow. Therefore, needs more Shadow. I'm not understanding why the discussion continued after this point. If Shadow wore sunglasses, then Sonic wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Either one, actually, the character or the forum member. Anyway, back to Sonic 4, I agree with Tony on this one. Even if it wasn't congruent to the story, Shadow as a bonus character would be good. Knuckles doesn't belong in Sonic 2, but you could do that couldn't you? Playing as Shadow in a old-school Sonic game would be alot of fun, and would help seal the deal on a few skeptical fans.

Why wouldn't I have a leg to stand on? You'd shoot it? What for?
But yeah Nightmare, you're right, they are all cliches. But Sonic is the original cliche XD. And you're right, it's just a matter of opinion. You like Shadow, I like Sonic. No biggie. And I'm pretty sure it's probably gonna be just Sonic, but if they did stick Tails and Knuckles in it'd be totally fine by me, I always loved using them too. And who knows? They're gonna be episodic, so even if we don't see them here they can always be in the next one. That'd be pretty cool.
And I totally forgot we can use bullet points. Thanks for reminding me. XD

I like shadow, but as said it ruins the flow... actually the whole game probably ruins the flow >

If they can get a suitable control for iPhone, I don't see why not it can't be sent for the iPhone playing mode.

Wait... Sega listened to the fans and cut the gimmick bullshit and made a classic sideview sonic game? Or did they just run out of bananas to feed for their dev team and had to hire humans to do the job... I guess I'll go for the latter option.
Also, why can't Sonic just die already!?

Or maybe ... they listened to what the fans wanted for once.
And Sonic is too lovable for everyone to be just killed off.

The stage was called "Splash Hill", which isn't that weird.
And is it me, or does Sonic look way too slow...?

He does seem a bit slow... but then again, the person in that video wasn't playing all that well...

Well, I think it's the way Sonic moves. His speed isn't necessarily slow, but he looks like he's moving slow.
In the old Sonic games, his feet turned into shapeless wheels when he ran, so you knew he was running like hell. But in this then he just looks like he's strolling...
