Random's opinion is unimportant! These are great tidings, indeed!

As much as I love red and blue, I thought gold and silver were better. I like this news a lot, though I want more info on what exactly they've updated so they don't try and sell me the exact same game again.

There's not a whole lot out right now. But obviously, the graphics are much better. Same as D/P/Pt if not a hair better. And they've shown some shots with the starter following your character around. They'll almost definitely have online trading and battling, etc.
And people are hoping that since we don't have the space limitations we did with GBC cartridges the Kanto region will be more fleshed out and not as suckish. But, that's just hoping for now.

It's quite amazing how they always manage to expand the games.

They do make new games. So far, they've released a remake with 3rd gen and now they have a remake coming for 4th gen. A big reason is so that people have access to all the Pokemon in their latest state without having to hack. Plus, Gold and Silver were awesome games and deserve a makeover.

OR they could just come up with... i dunno, SOMETHING NEW!? Not working as well, they've realized that the older fans don't actually want 650 pokemon and 24 legendaries (those are guesses/gross exageration but you get what I mean.) The highest selling series was the gold/silver one, and that's when most people decided it wasn't cool to like pokemon anymore or that it was a kiddy thing. Now those same people bust out their gameboy colors from time to time and restart the older games for a retro feeling, but they aren't interested in buying the newer games.

RBY and DPPt both sold more than GSC. It's not that they aren't working on new stuff. They're remaking the old stuff to keep the Pokemon and attacks and areas and everything up to date and accessible in new generations. They're remaking old games and working on new ones at the same time. Yes, nostalgia is a huge factor, obviously, and GSC were amazing games. They weren't the best selling, but that doesn't mean anything. They aren't remaking it because new games aren't selling well. And it's just shy of 500 total right now... There were 13 legendaries in DPPt alone, which is rediculous. >< There are 36 total.

And now for the 10th anniversary of Gold and Silver, I give you! The original Gold and Silver appeared on the Game Boy and sold 23 million copies worldwide. Pokémon Heart Gold and Pokémon Soul Silver will be packaged with pedometers dubbed the Poké Walker. Pricing is still TBA.
