Gen 6 is coming this October! Pokemon X and Y will be the first traditional-style Pokemon games to feature fully 3D landscapes and characters. Sprites are gone (which I'll be butthurt about for a while, I'm sure) and everything from exploration to battle takes place in 3D now.
The reveal trailer shows the new starters as well as the two big legendaries.

Personally, I like the transition to Full 3D, it's something I've wanted for ages, and I imagine it's far easier to do that then make a billion different animations in sprite form.

The Legendaries for this gen: Those blood bird things from Devil May Cry 3 and a sinspawn from the loins of Dialga and the Forest Spirit from Princess Mononoke.
Yay totally not dumb and lame.

Bird legendary doesn't look all that great. However, I think deer legendary looks pretty good... so I'm probably gonna get X.

Double post! Got news, names of the legendaries!
Bird is Yveltal (ee-VELL-tall). Deer is Xerneas (ZURR-nee-us).

Also, it's worth noting that these games will be released simultaneously worldwide this October, for the first time in the series.

Seeing as no one has mentioned it yet, I guess I'll say it. A new Eeveelution was revealed a while ago, and just recently... it's English name was announced. Introducing... Sylveon. And due to it's type being officially considered to be unknown, it's time for some speculation. As we all know, the names of the Eeveelutions tend to give away what type they are... so what can we get from "Sylveon"? Well, personally... it makes me think "Sylph", a mythical creature that is usually associated with wind or air. Because of this... I would put my money on it being a Flying type.

And I think it refers to the fact a sylph is a fairy, and it looks nothing like a Flying type. So I'm expecting a new type. But we won't get into that whole argument again here, we'll just see who's right when the time comes.

I'm not going to argue with you... however I would just like to ask to please keep type speculation limited to types that are currently known. I really don't want to see people throwing around types they would like to see instead of the types that actually exist. That goes for everyone.
Also, I'm gonna throw this image here because I've seen a few theories thrown around about it. Some are saying the positions of the Eeveelutions in this is somehow connected to type match ups. For example... Dark is strong against Psychic, so Umbreon is across from Epseon, Fire is strong against Ice, so Flareon is across from Glaceon. This does seem to be true, but the question is whether or not it's intentional. If it is, this could mean that Sylveon is going to be either weak to or strong against Jolteon... limiting potential types to Flying or Ground.

I'm thinking Ghost or Poison types.

That chart's also in generational order from top to bottom. I doubt they'd give us such a cryptic hint like that, it's not really their style for this series.
Also, I'll speculate whatever types I wanna speculate. >:\ I'm not saying I necessarily WANT a new type, although it would be fun adding a new ingredient into the mix. I'm just saying that's what I expect.

I want it to be a fighting or ghost type to round out Espeon and Umbreon, but its not looking that way. Looks more like a normal type than anything else what with the pink bows and all. If it is normal though, I don't like the look at all. It just looks out of place next to all of the other eevolutions.
Other than that, I've also heard crap being tossed around about the possibility of new types - those being Light and Sound types. Now I don't know if sound will ever be a thing, but I could see them making Light a type.

I can actually kinda see it being a Ghost type... not as much as Flying, but I'm not completely disregarding it as a possibility. And don't get me started on that whole Sound type bull**it... that's one of the worst fake types I've been seeing, only being slightly better than "Love". No I didn't make that up... there are people who have seriously suggested that as a new type. That chart's also in generational order from top to bottom. I doubt they'd give us such a cryptic hint like that, it's not really their style for this series. I noticed that as well... I just been seeing it a lot, and thought I'd throw it out there to see what people would do with it.

The Butterflys on it make me think bug, but, man I hope not. I love Bug types and this thing just looks awful.
