Following the trend of characters being revealed alongside game launches, Zelda comes in just after A Link Between Worlds.
You know, for a second I forgot that Zelda hadn't been revealed yet, and I thought that Ztrl's picture implied for a moment that the Darknut Phantom was a character. Then I thought he must be an Assist Trophy. Now as I look at it, Zelda appears to be directing it, indicating that it could be an attack of hers. But then, she could just be doing her wave taunt.
I'm only disappointed because we don't get to see the Sheik transformation.

Man, I am seeing no signs of Captian Falcon. I really want him to stick around, he's like one of the funnest characters.

They won't get rid of the original 12, they can't. If you remember back to Brawl though, he was one of the last characters announced then too. I just hope they make him good again.

It looks to me like its a new move rather than an assist trophy

King Dedede returns, looking exactly the same. Sakurai will probably end up voicing him again.

I'm a little confused about the Zelda thing. Seems they decided to incorporate something from Spirit Tracks (where Zelda's spirit was separated from her body and followed you as your helper character, and could do things like possess suits of armor and help you fight.) So it's almost certainly a new move. But the question is what move it's replacing. Would it be crazy to think she can't turn into Sheik anymore? I suppose she technically only did become Sheik in one game that's now like 15 years old... But at the same time that seems like a pretty drastic change that I didn't think they'd make. I suppose it's possible it's her new side smash, or maybe her new side B (and they instead replaced her spells?) or even had it replace the Sheik transformation and maybe Sheik will come back as another standalone character. It's hard to say at this point.

It's hard to say at this point. I've thought about this, and I believe it is her new Down B move, taking out Sheik because they wanted to condense characters. Much like how Samus doesn't seem to have Zero Suit Samus anymore. I think this isn't a terrible move, it isn't optimal unless they make Sheik it's own character, but who knows. We'll have to wait for the entire roster to say what is what for sure.

I don't know if this would replace down B, she doesn't seem to be becoming the Dark Nut so much as summoning one to attack. Maybe a side + A?
I hope Sheik isn't getting replaced, but OoT is getting pretty old, and unlike other Zelda regulars Sheik was really only featured once. But with so many clone characters, Zelda and Sheik play radically different, and I'd hate to see them get rid of her.

She does seem to be controlling it, not sure why the down B would need to have her transform if they're replacing the move. Still though I hope they don't get rid of Sheik, even if Sheik becomes a separate character.

We got another returning character conformation, this time it's Lucario. From the screenshots, it doesn't look like his moveset has been changed... but according to Sakurai, they have "increased the influence of Aura" making him a "force to be reckoned with" when damaged. Probably meaning that they gave his gimmick from Brawl quite a noticeable buff. Also, how much are you willing to bet that they changed his Final Smash to Mega Evolution? (There is no point to this image being here, I just think it's funny.)

Mega Lucario is a pretty decent guess I'd hazard. And I'm going to make another prediction.
Based on the way the Smash Bros website is laid out, new characters take up three spaces on the page and returning fighters are given one spot. We've had quite a few returning characters now, so I'm betting one of the next two reveals will be a new character.
Also, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze drops on Feb. 23, so I'm fully expecting a Diddy reveal around that time, or if Nintendo feels so inclined, a new DK character like Dixie.

I called it that there would be a new character in the next two, which means that the website has a pattern we can use to predict new reveals. I was expecting Dixie, but there's still time for a Diddy reveal alongside Tropical Freeze.
Little Mac is an interesting choice, though one I know a lot of people have asked for. He looks like he'll fit well, but I'm most concerned about that power meter he builds up. Feels a little like the mechanic in Playstation All-stars where you fill your meter and the next strike is an instant KO, which I hope is not the case. We'll need to see more, but in the video it looked like he KO'd Megaman at just 17%, which should not be possible.
After watching the video again, it appears as though several of Little Mac's attacks have 'Super Armor' which is a fighting game term which basically means he doesn't flinch if he's attacked while doing a move himself. In the video he is seen taking a hit from Bowser while charging what looks like a side Smash attack, he takes the hit and follows up with a more powerful smash of his own with no delay, no flinching or hit stun. He is seen doing this more than once, making it look like intentional design by Nintendo, they want him to be a character that can receive a hit and immediately respond with his own, hitstun or knockback be dammed.
Finally, he seems to have very high running speed. He's not quite Sonic or Captain Falcon, but he looks to be easily faster than half the cast, probably about the same speed as Fox. Seems to have average jumping capability and his recovery is nothing to write home about. But really, the only thing Little Mac has hindering him is lack of a projectile attack.

Seems to have average jumping capability and his recovery is nothing to write home about. But really, the only thing Little Mac has hindering him is lack of a projectile attack. -KO Meter- From the trailer, I believe his "KO" meter is just his smash attacks fully charged. This WON'T do an instant KO, as if you slow down/frame by frame the video when he hits bowser and megaman you can't see Megaman's % BUT you can see Bowser is at around 290% which would of course instantly kill anyone. His KO meter in his games also doesn't instantly knock out his opponents but it does do a very large amount of damage. So with that thought I believe his fully charged smash attacks can add bonus % damage or knock enemies further away. So instead of a normal character killing at 80% A full smash from him could kill at maybe 60% or so. Or something along those lines. I believe the video doctored up his KO meter move by getting Bowser to a large percent as well as Megaman and then showed how awesome it is to be Lil Mac. -Super Armor- This part worries me if only for the tourney-fag inside me. I hate super armor, and I really want most of the cast to be good enough to go toe to toe against each other. Where in high ranking tournaments you only see (for example in brawl) Metaknight Metaknight Metaknight Marth Metaknight Falco Metaknight. I really don't want it to be Lil Mac ditto matches till the end of time because lolsuperarmor. But let's get back to super armor gameplay. This Gameplay element isn't something super new as Ike had this on his B move and it was kinda cool to try and bait people in to getting hit by it. But it looks like he has this on all of his smash attacks from the video(though I could be wrong). This would give him more of a reason to try and fully smash someone because you can soak the hit(s). But we don't know how many hits he soaks, it could be all of them or just one. I think the super armor will play a huge part in his play style. -Play style- Obviously he is going to be a rush down sort of character who is fairly quick and small so is hard to hit. His dodge rolls are HUGE and have incredibly fast recovery time. As shown in the video he can dodge and essentially go in to his normal jab combo. His rapid fist can also combo in to an up tilt(I think) which seems to be able to combo in to his Up B at the right %. He will want to stay on the ground as in the trailer you see he has terrible recovery. I believe he will be a pretty good grappler and will possibly counter some Projectile heavy characters as so many of his moves go through them or is just too small to hit. I believe a counter to him would be Diddy Kong(if he returns) because banana dance would be his downfall. But only time will tell.
