This thing makes me mad as hell for a few simple reasons:
1. So what now if I wanna play Xenoblade or whatever the hell comes out I need to buy a 3DS AGAIN because Nintendo thought it'd be cool to rerelease the same system a couple years later and make new games incompatible with the old ones?
2. Why isn't it coming out the same time here as it is in Japan? I need to replace my 3DS anyway because the shoulder buttons are shot, so MAYBE I would have sprung for one of these things if I could get one soon but no we get some vague crap about it coming out sometime in 2015.
3. WHY IS THE POWER BUTTON AND CARD SLOT ON THE BOTTOM. I carry my 3DS in my pocket and I will almost certainly see that thing getting the game knocked out or the power turned off if I carry that in my pocket, ruining any games I have waiting for me, thus kind of negating the damn thing being portable since I can't take it with me if the game is going to be RUINED EVERY TIME I PUT IT IN MY POCKET.
I will commend them for the spec upgrades, like 3D being more reliable, the CPU and RAM being improved, and adding a micro SD slot under the case. But after the 3DS XL and 2DS this whole revamped 3DS crap is getting really tired... Except the 3DS XL and 2DS at least had the advantage of being able to play the same games as the original 3DS.
This is dumb and I am sorely disappointed in Nintendo.

Well, after a month of playing with my N3DSXL I can say that the 3D effect is definitely better than the previous models, the head tracking does tend to freak out if someone is trying to look over your shoulder though, so keep that in mind.
The battery life isn't really much different than my old XL.
Its a lot faster than the older units as promised, the games load faster and the graphics do look better on some games. (Majora's Mask and SSB)
The mirror like finish on the casing looks really classy but gets really fingerprint-y really fast, which isn't really a big deal but it looks bad after a while.
And then there's the C-stick. Its not an analog control stick at all, its one of those mouse nubs that are randomly plopped into the middle of some laptop keyboards. This isn't a bad thing really, its responsive to directional inputs but it feels very very stiff.

I still stand by my butthurt rambling from last August except add that they didn't bring the non XL New 3DS to the states.

Yeah it was pretty disappointing and very puzzling as to why they did this...
