Aqua processed the events that unfolded before her. Left between Enfurnus and Shin while the enigma duo took off in a rage. She wanted to know more but hadn't considered Rion's privacy. She felt the need to apologize but, at the same time, wanted to learn more.
"If it's alright with you-" before she was cut off. The pair both planned to meet up at dusk in front of the keep. Aqua slumped over as she lamented her chance to learn more from the talkative pair.
Her head hung low but she replied to Enfurnus' inquiry. "Yeah. He made us these charms," Aqua pulled the crystal shard she carried out and showed it to the dragon. Man. Dragon. Dragon-man? Whatever they did to take on human form. A small smile formed on her face, she didn't know why she thought Dragon-man sounded funny. She quickly covered her face with her other hand to hide it. "They're supposed to be wards against blight magic. I haven't gotten to use it yet, though."
"After that he left, saying we would see him again real soon." Feeling satisfied with that, Aqua felt her stomach grumble. "Well, if you'll excuse me, I believe I'll go for a walk. Until dusk, then." She bowed her head to the group and headed for the gate leading to the city.

Shin, oddly enough, seemed unable to hide a small smile that appeared when Silver also snapped at him, crossing his arms. "That may be, given you seem pretty acquainted with Enfurnus here, but who's to say the same for the others in your crew? Besides... it's for his benefit as much as yours; the sooner he realizes there's no way he can take this all on his own, the better off he'll be." He said to Silver before she went after Rion, before looking to Enfurnus as he explained a few more things. Seeing that there was not much else for him to say, Shin looked to Aqua. "All in due time, Miss. We have our duties to our people, but if this group is serious about helping pick up where the Swordsmen left off, then I and I'm sure Enfurnus have no problems helping where we can." With that, Shin took his leave and left to go gather the information from the scouts in the area.
-----------
So the truth was out there... at least to those few people. Needless to say, there were a lot of questions that one could ask regarding how Rion survived the incident that caused the crystallization of Diamond Town, though he had little to no answers regarding them. Shin was right about one thing; the attack was coordinated to take out the Swordsmen, which was yet another reason he wanted to keep the fact that he survived quiet. If the wrong people found out, then he and whoever he was traveling with were in grave danger; as much as he wanted to get back at the dark mages that caused this, he was uncertain about dragging these others down his path now that they knew at least some of the truth about him. Rion had been lost in thought as he made his way towards the keep exit, turning suddenly as someone tapped him on the shoulder.
"S-Silver...?" He watched as the half-dragon tilted her head, and although her mask hid most of it, it was clear she had gone after him out of concern. When she said it wasn't right what Shin did, Rion shook his head, before sighing lightly. "I suppose it needed to happen eventually, if you were going to keep going with me the truth had to come out somehow; He's right about one thing though... Being around me is going to only put you and the others in more danger if it becomes apparent that someone survived the attack. The fewer people that know this, the better." He explained quietly, turning his head slightly away from Silver, only looking back when she asked if he wanted to hang out somewhere before turning in, though the way she asked that did cause him to raise an eyebrow.
"I... er... I guess a walk around town would probably do some good... Did the others get any information from Shin?" He asked, somewhat curious as to where the conversation went after he left, if anywhere.

Enfurnus looked at the charm as Aqua pulled it out. He walked up to her and examined it closely.
"It should work, I think. None of us really understand how yet, but it's something we have read about and seen on a few occasions. Just be careful when you pull that thing out, if you somehow come across anybody that knows a decent amount about blight...they might assume you're a blight mage. Not that anybody these days really know much about that sort of stuff...but still. Careful. Did he tell you anything useful? I'm assuming no. Annoying how he can be so incredibly smart and also so stupid at the same time." He sighed.
He then listened as Shin spoke, then nodded. "I plan to help. By myself for now, not with an army."
He waved to Shin as the man walked off, then looked to Aqua.
"Wait. Want me to go along? You seemed like you want to know more. I don't honestly have anything to do, so...maybe I can answer some things for you, so you know more what you're up against? That way, before Shin alerts us to whatever is found, you're a little smarter about blight and such. I'm sure Silver hasn't told you much, right? She's not an easy one to gain the trust of, unfortunately. And you deserve to know whatever you need to ask when you are clearly risking your life for us and our cause. Some stuff I can't talk about....but a lot of it, I can." He waited for her response. It was only fair after all; he wouldn't lead soldiers in blindly, and that logic counts for this situation too. It wasn't quite a war, but it was a dangerous enough battle to where he thought transparency mattered a lot.
~~
Silver smiled softly as Rion spoke. He seemed more calm now at least, but she knew it had to still be bugging him.
"Yeah, but he could have let you tell us. I would've preferred that, 'cus you didn't seem ready. Regardless of what it is, doesn't matter much to me. We're all fighting for the same thing, after all...well, don't worry. I won't tell anybody." She grinned, trying to lighten the mood a bit...though, he said it was dangerous to journey with him and her smile quickly faded a bit.
"Rion, don't worry about that...I'm a danger too. To all of you, and I always have been. So...that doesn't change my thoughts about all this even a little bit. Besides, don't friends help each other out with everything? So, if someone comes after you, you won't have to fight them alone now. That means you're more safe." She then lowered her voice. "I can tell you....the risky part about me, too. Maybe it'll make you feel like we're on even ground in regards to that aspect. But, not right here. It's something you need to know, any way." She was clearly trying as hard as she could to make him feel better about all this, and also clearly did not approve of the way this was revealed, even still. It just didn't make sense to her in any way. "I...won't ask you any more about the subject unless you want to talk to me about it. I promise. I'm curious, but I don't need to know unless you wanna tell me." Rion then asked about Shin. Silver scoffed slightly at the name.
"I don't know. I left before he said much, and kind of got a bit too angry to pay much attention to him after he decided to reveal your secret for you. I can ask Enfurnus later, or Aqua. She stayed as well. But sure...I think a walk would be good, too." She was a bit relieved he wasn't at least super weirded out by her asking that. It felt odd, to ask that, but he was a friend now. She failed to see him any differently after Shin told them about the Shining Swordsmen....except maybe think he's a little bit more cool.

Rion raised an eyebrow at Silver's attempt to lighten things up a bit. She went on to say that if he wanted she could reveal something about her that was more of a risk, which did have him somewhat curious but given what she had already told him about her being able to use dark magic, he could only imagine it was related to that. He shook his head in response, smiling back to her. "It's all right, really... we can save that for if it comes up. As long as we have an understanding that we're getting into something that's much bigger than what little we've seen, and how dangerous it really will be, I'd say we're already even." He replied. It was interesting that she felt so angry at Shin for what he did, but for everything the man did reveal, now that Rion was certain who Shin was, there was something he had indeed chosen not to reveal, and for that much he was thankful, at least. At hearing Silver scoff at the name and explain she was also angry and did not stick around, he could not help but laugh just a little bit.
"All right, all right... we'll check with Aqua and the others later. Just, uh... don't be too mad at Shin, okay? He meant well by letting you guys know, probably figured I already had mentioned it or something. I was more angry at how he brought them up so casually as if he knew them, that's all..." Rion stated, hoping that it would make a little more sense now that the overall context was not what he was really all that angry about; after all, he at least trusted the group enough after seeing their desire to fight alongside him that they could stand to know that much about him. There were still things he wished to keep to himself, however, but if Silver was indeed curious...
"So what do you want to know, anyway...?" He asked Silver once the two left the keep and began to walk around the streets of Agrova. Chances were that Aqua, Terra, and Lucas would have similar questions when they returned to the group, but he felt that it would be easier to get an idea of what questions would likely come if Silver asked first.

"Okay, I guess that's fair, then. But...you can always just ask me if you ever feel like knowing or whatnot. I'm okay with it." She replied to him with a grin, though it was just barely visible thanks to her masked face. Silver was happy enough with that reaction and felt like she didn't do something totally weird now.
She then tilted her head once more when he laughed, though. What was so funny? She genuinely didn't get it. Oh well, didn't matter, at least he was in a better mood now.
"Mmmm...yeah, okay. I'll try not to be mad. I can't promise that for now, though. Might take me awhile, because regardless of his reasons...it wasn't his place to tell us. But if you forgive him, I guess I should..." There was a bit of an edge to her words there; regardless of reasoning, or even regardless of why Rion was angry over it, she still wasn't going to approve of what Shin did. She would certainly eventually forgive him, but for now....meh. In her mind, it was never his place to talk about Rion's life.
Silver looked around at all the sights of Argova in a very curious manner as her and Rion began to walk about the city. She felt okay for now; no human military was around, and she was decently covered up by her cloak. So this left her to have the confidence to observe the city a bit; something she didn't do much.
She then looked at Rion when he asked her what she wanted to know, looking a tiny bit surprised. She didn't really expect him to want to answer questions, but if he did, she would be happy to ask them. Learning new things about the world was just about her favorite thing to do.
"Oh, um...well, if I ask anything you don't wanna tell me, just let me know, okay?" She smiled again. Andddd....her first question was probably not at all what he was expecting.
"The Shining Swordsmen, huh...I've heard of your people in passing, but...I don't know anything about them." She paused for a moment and looked at him in a curious manner. "Sooo...does that mean you have extra cool magic compared to regular light mages?" Her tone was different than usual. Less wary and serious; more curious and almost....playful. She loved learning about mages and all their unique abilities, and this was a really neat opportunity to do so. "Is that how you helped me? I've heard light mages are very powerful against blight, but honestly, I've never talked to one and I never really saw many! So maybe you're extra strong or something? Especially since you're a part of the group that had such a large impact on the blight."
She then paused for a moment and looked forward.
"And...what were they like? The Shining Swordsmen. They were your friends, too, right..?" She figured as much, since it is hard to fight alongside others without befriending them. The entire reason she always fought and traveled alone to begin with. But...maybe having some companions wasn't so bad after all.

Rion put a hand to the back of his head when Silver stated how she was still angry at Shin for what he had done. "Well... he did save my life; who knows where I'd be if he just left me in the middle of all that. And besides... he left it at that, I can't be too mad at him for revealing something that is at least important to the mission." He said, quite clearly implying to Silver that Shin knew even more about Rion than he had let on, but declined to say anything beyond who he was, and he did at least appreciate that. After lowering his arm, he then shook his head. "A-Anyway... enough about him, you had some questions, yeah?" He asked, as the two walked through the streets. He simply nodded at her request to let her know if she asked something he didn't want to answer, before she fired off her first question which came off... a little different than he thought. In fact, it almost came off like she was a fan of some sort, causing him to laugh a little again.
"I don't know about 'extra cool'... but the majority of them for one reason or another were simply more effective at using light for offensive purposes. Traditionally, light magic is a magic of healing, and purification... which is why even normal light mages tend to be effective against the Blight. But the Swordsmen, each one of them were capable of conjuring different weapons made entirely of light. As far as helping you... well, that was more like something anyone that uses light could do, they tend to force the darkness outward in order to nullify the damage done to a person by dark magics... though for I suppose obvious reasons, I could only take that so far in your case." He explained to Silver, before going into the question of whether he was "extra strong", causing him to tilt his head before putting a hand to his chin. "I don't know about all that. I may have an ace in the hole against the undead and dark magic, but that comes at the cost of not being as effective against the other elements; both light and darkness tend to exist outside what one would see as a sort of wheel, where each element tends to be strong to one and yet weak to another. So where it takes a bit stronger magic for a person using other elements to stand off against the undead, it takes a bit more for me to match the kind of power others mages can pull off elsewhere... if that makes any sense. Oh... and this might be something to take into consideration, but I'm not all that great of a healer. I heal from stuff a bit faster I guess, but my healing's not as great as a typical light mage, and the ones who have really trained in it blow me out of the water." He said afterward, now unsure if what he said was going to be more confusing or not. Silver's next question, however, caused him to look away slightly as he recalled the people he had traveled with for so long.
"... They were good people. Many of the older ones had families they were fighting for, regardless of how dangerous our cause was. But in the end, they were like a family all their own... or maybe more like having a lot of brothers, but family just the same." Rion replied after a few seconds. It was clear now why he had been angered about what Shin said; he was indeed close to the people he had lost, and still could not fathom just how he had managed to live when they did not. Deciding not to dwell on those memories too much while Silver was asking him questions, he shook his head before looking back at her, now finding himself somewhat curious about something, as well.
"... Since we're asking questions and all... What's up with the mask, anyway?" He asked, assuming there was some sort of purpose to it, he found himself curious as to what it was.

Silver looked at Rion as he described Shin, still with a twinge of disapproval on her face.
"Oh...he saved you? Well, I guess he can't be too terrible, then....maybe I'll forgive him a little sooner." She still kinda glared, but overall seemed slightly more approving of Shin now. Slightly. Surely, that will eventually change.
After she asked her question, Rion laughed. She didn't really understand why, so she tilted her head slightly. Maybe it was her enthusiasm that was funny? Hmm, oh well. She smiled a small bit in response to his laughing.
"Oh, that's really cool! I have always thought of light magic users to be more healers. So yours is offensive, then? That's very different. I haven't seen any like you before...and it sounds like a very potent thing to have against the blight. I had no idea light mages could purify blight like that though...very interesting...I kind of thought they just could heal people, and that's all. And that they could kill blight mages easier." She continued smiling as she spoke in reply. So, he nullifies the blight, then? That is going to make handling these crystals a lot less...dangerous. "Can you show me some of your magic sometimes? After you described it, I do think it's pretty darn neat. Sorry if that's weird." She scratched the back of her head.
She listened as he further answered her questions.
"Mmmm...interesting. So you struggle against all the other elements? You seem like you know your way around a fight, though, regardless. Either way, you don't really need to be all that effective against other elements. We technically shouldn't be fighting much outside of blight...I think. But it makes sense, don't worry. Blight magic is almost similar, but the offensive-based mages are instead elite and very powerful. I think only light mages can really kill them. Otherwise, dark magic sounds like it's almost just like light magic. Odd..." She trailed off for a moment, realizing she and Rion were on those opposing ends of the pole, instead of circular like everything else. At least she wasn't fully a dark mage...
She then shrugged, shaking off the thought. "I guess you are extra strong where it matters the most. Neat."
The dragon girl looked at him though, as he turned away when she asked her next question. Perhaps she shouldn't have asked...but she had to know. She had assumed that these people were no longer alive, by the way Rion talked about them.
"...That sounds nice...I bet they'd be proud of what you're doing right now. You're upholding their values, and doing a great job of it. You should be proud of that, too. Maybe...sometime you can tell me more about them." She looked ahead and sighed. She knew this plight all too well, under different circumstances, causing her mind to trail off a bit for a few moments. If she had just gotten out faster...
Rion then asked about her mask, causing her to look a bit startled.
"Wha-? Oh.." She gulped. She didn't know how to answer this one, really...should she tell the truth? Or not? It'd be easy to play off as something useful for battle...
Naw. There was no sense in hiding it now, after Rion told her so much. She would repay the favor by staying honest.
"...Well, to be totally honest, it serves me a few purposes. One, it hides my teeth. I dunno if you noticed, but my canines aren't regular human canines. They're pretty pointy and obvious, and it gives me away a bit that I'm not human if someone catches a glimpse. And really, the less strangers that know I'm a halfbreed, the better. It's why I wear my cloak, too. There are some mean humans out there, as you saw..." She sighed, then paused for a moment and finally took a deep breath. "And...well, also because it hides the scars on my face. So I don't have to look at them, and so others don't have to either. Because they're...large." She looked away, and her voice was quiet. She almost regretted saying that; it sounded somewhat pathetic to her. But it was true; other humans didn't have such large scars on their faces. It looked so terrible to her, and was a constant reminder of things she didn't want to think about.

Aqua hovered in place as Enfurnus offered to go along with her and explain the Blight. A genuine smile formed on her face as she finally felt some of her stress peel off. "I would like that. But, let's go out and find somewhere to rest first. I've had a long day, after all, and could really use a break." Without further ado, Enfurnus and Aqua set out.
~
Not many minutes passed before Aqua found herself at a low-key restaurant a block down from the keep. Aside from a few strangers and employees littered around the bar and other tables, the place was deserted. They were definitely in before the rush, as the people walking in now were all staff. Sitting across was a tall, black haired dragon disguised as a man in heavy armor who would be the one to fill her in on the dangers her new friends were facing. Aqua's helmet was placed on the table in front of them and her cape brushed to her side over her weapon's holster, concealing it. She leaned back against her chair and rubbed her temples with both hands, with her head bowed and her eyes closed. A few deep breath and exhales passed from her lips before she looked up to Enfurnus across from her. She folded her hands on her lap and crossed her legs.
"So.. I don't feel it's necessary to be as formal as I was with the guard captain, not in here. But, Silver seems to have some interesting friends.. In the Frontier, we don't see many dragons. I myself travel frequently throughout the region and you are only the second one I have ever met." She smiled a bit, then continued. "A dragon is one thing, but a general? Impressive, to say the least. How exactly do you know Silver? And if you know she can neutralize those crystals, why aren't you doing more to protect her?"
Aqua's tone changed from questioning to implicit. "This magic is dangerous, and not just because of the disastrous power it has, but because of the chaos that could ensue if people learn it's on the loose. What if it does get worse than what happened in Aldur? What if it's not just happening here either? Is Silver the only one who can stop this? And.. if you have seen it before, who was causing the crystals to appear? And how was it that you stopped it? ..You did stop it, right?" Aqua added at the end. She didn't realize how much she had to ask about as questions kept pouring from her mouth. More was to come, but she paused just as their waitress was stopping over to hand over their orders. She'd let Enfurnus answer while she started picking at her food.

It was strange, seeing someone so interested in abilities that, although rare, he saw as no less a part of him than Silver's transformations, or Aqua's ice powers. Smiling a bit as Silver wanted to learn more about his abilities as a light mage that was geared towards offense, Rion soon shrugged his shoulders. "I don't see why not... after all, we're bound to deal more with the blight as things continue, so I'm going to have to make use of those powers eventually." He stated, before Silver responded to what he had said about the Shining Swordsmen. He remained silent as she said what she had, finding it very similar to what Shin had ended up saying. Perhaps his outburst really was out of line...
"I suppose you're right..." He said, finally looking back over to Silver before asking the question about her mask. She then went on to explain the reason she was hiding her face, and as she had done so, he found it to be a rather reasonable explanation, with the only exception being that the mask did little for the scars he caught the occasional glimpse of; though he supposed that was why she kept her hair the way she did. "I see... I'd say those are all pretty good reasons." He replied, before finding himself laughing a little again, this time out of the realization that his question to her was a bit absurd given the fact he wore a gauntlet to cover his arm. "S-sorry... just realized that question sounds a little silly coming from a guy keeping one arm covered." Rion finally added, before sighing lightly. If nothing else, Silver's mission was indeed working; not only was he finding himself in a little better spirits, but he made a mental note to apologize to Shin the next time he saw him. However, he could not help but feel like the two were wandering around a bit aimlessly, prompting him to stop walking momentarily, looking to Silver once more.
"You said this wasn't someplace you'd been to often, if ever, right? Was there something here you would like to check out?"

Enfurnus yawned as he sat at the table. He took note of the emptiness, and would use that as his advantage. He could explain things quite openly here, since basically nobody was around to hear. He crossed his arms and sat up very straight. Not very surprising, coming from a general. The dragon waited patiently for her questions.
"Formalities are never necessary with me. I am equal to my fellow companions and warriors, so...no need to be formal. Any time." He never really liked being addressed in a formal manner anyway.
"Dragons are not very common in general, no. And technically, I'm the first one you have met. Silver is a half. I'm full. Though...she may as well be full, the way she acts and her mannerisms, honestly. But really, I'm not all that impressive. I just saw a need and decided to fill it, and for whatever reason others decided to put me officially in charge...and its been that way ever since." He shrugged. "As for how I know Silver, we dragged her out of...danger. When...the blight took over her dragon colony's home. She stuck with us for a bit after that, adamant on repaying the favor to me with great regard to personal safety. Then she decided that she had other things to do and learn about. She comes and visits sometimes, and I run in to her on occasion, considering we both are drawn to danger. She's helped me out with various things since, and has become like a sibling to me, of sorts." He paused for a moment, after Aqua's statement about Silver being able to neutralize the crystals. He then smirked.
"Yes...I am aware of that. But, she runs around everywhere. I can't protect her, I have an army to lead. While I can take some time away, I can't be following her around to who knows where and what corners of the world...and I am pretty sure she would kill me in the most vicious way possible if I tried to hold her down and keep her around me. That's something she would never do...and she would never be happy that way anyway. So I let her go. Besides...Celestrus is a stalker. He generally keeps an eye on most things. Plus, now she has you guys." He smiled a bit.
Enfurnus tilted his head a slight bit as Aqua's tone changed. She certainly had a lot of thoughts about blight. But, it was only fair; it was clearly demonstrated to her how dangerous it is, so she has every right to be concerned like this.
His voice was a bit quieter now, to insure nobody else could hear him.
"Okay, let me answer one thing at a time. You are correct. Though, I would be far more worried about it's power than the chaos. While the chaos is a factor...this is a threat to our entire world. It could take over everything, and kill everyone. The inhabitants can be kept in line, I'm sure...and it will take a long time before people figure out just what the increased security in their towns is for, anyway. So we keep quiet, but put leaders in alert. For now. I need to know the severity of the situation first. I promise you this, it will get worse. I'm sorry if that isn't what you want to hear, but you should know. These attacks don't ever happen without a devious plan behind them. It's like insects...if you see one, there are hundreds more coming behind it. It's not just happening here."
The dragon took a quick sip of his water before continuing, calmly.
"Next. Silver is, to my knowledge, the only one with her specific set of powers that give her the ability to neutralize the crystals. She is a unique case. However, she is not the only one that can do so. There are others that can too, in other ways...different than her method. Not very many at all though....and even less are willing to risk their lives in such a manner. I'm also not sure if any of them are actually still alive, but...maybe." He shrugged. There was...possibly one person he could think of, but he wouldn't mention that.
He took another sip of his water.
"As far as what causes it, blight archmages that specialize in a certain type of spell casting create them and place them in the land. Blight then spreads from that source, killing everything too weak to withstand it's power. Some crystals are weaker than others. You can judge it by the size. As for how I stopped it...personally, I didn't. It was a very large, collective effort. I lead my armies to fight in the blighted lands, while others with the ability to stop it did so wherever they could. My part in the war was keeping blight archmage numbers down. We killed them. Celestrus helped...by pretending he was one of them, and then assassinating them as he went along. We reduced their numbers as much as we could, and protected as many innocents as possible. That's what I did." Enfurnus scratched his head. He played a big part in killing blight archmages, but he could not himself take credit. Many lives were lost in that fight...and he didn't want that to happen again.
He quieted down as the waitress came, and quietly thanked her. He then began to nibble at his food, waiting for more questions.
"What else? I feel we're just at the tip of the iceberg here...fire away."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Cool! I look forward to it." Silver replied with a bit of a small smile as Rion said he would show her some of his light magic powers. This would be a great opportunity to learn. Besides, she was certain it would be pretty neat to witness.
She just listened to Rion as he replied to her comments about her mask, averting her gaze at that point. He didn't seem to react badly or anything, so that was good enough. Maybe it wasn't so hard being a little more open.
With certain people, anyway.
"...Yep." She replied after a few quiet moments. He then began to laugh again? Why is that? Humans are funny. Silver was starting to kind of like them more now. Maybe they're not all that different than her...and not all of them are mean. This is a good realization.
She tilted her head slightly as he apologized for asking, mentioning something about his covered arm. This made her think a bit; he did always have that arm covered. She had never once seen it off, even when she went to talk to him in his room in the Inn. That was interesting...was there something strange under it? Oh well, if he wanted to tell her, he would have. Now was not the time to ask. Now was the time to further cheer him up before they had to get back to business again. And maybe...get her own mind off things a bit, too.
"Oh, it's okay. We all have odd things about us, after all. If we didn't, I think the world would be pretty boring. 'Sides, I told you to ask whatever! I meant it." Silver replied with a smile, not asking any questions. Even if she was curious.
Silver then stopped walking when Rion stopped, and looked at him with a slightly confused expression. Why the sudden stop? Then he asked her if there was anything she wanted to see. Oh.
"U-uhm, well...I honestly don't know what's here. Besides buildings. Can you show me something you think is cool? I never spend much time in cities or towns in general, so really...anything you think is cool, would probably be interesting and new to me. But...I'd love to see some stuff." She smiled. This should be fun.
When Silver stated that she had no clue where to look in this town when it came to something interesting in the town, Rion tilted his head when she said she wanted to see anything he thought was cool. Putting a hand to his chin for a few seconds, a smile formed on his face before he nodded. "All right, I think I've got an idea..." He said to Silver, before waving her over to follow him. As he began to walk, the two would come across the shadow of a large clock tower that stood tall above most of the residential buildings in Agrova. Although it was generally open to the public, it was a landmark considered mundane by most, thus there were very few people around when the two entered the building, with Rion leading Silver up the fairly long staircase. "It's a bit of a workout, but trust me... the view is pretty nice."
Eventually, the pair had made their way to the top of the tower, able to see the gears and mechanisms that kept the clock hands moving. That in itself was intriguing to Rion, but upon walking down the path to a door that led outside, Rion approached the railing of a ledge that was just behind the hands of the massive clock. "It's not much, but on the right time of the year, you can see the sun setting over those mountains." He then explained, pointing in the direction of the large mountains in the distance. All in all, he considered this a good place to relax; one he had come to often in his travels, if only for a little while each time. He supposed there were other things, such as the market, that he would be happy to show Silver, but this was the first thing that came to mind that she would find a little more interesting than things others could find in any other town.
Silver smiled as Rion said he had an idea. She couldn't help but wonder what he thought of.
"Okay!" She then followed along as he walked. As they approached the clock tower, Silver looked up at it with wide eyes. It was different than all the other buildings. It had a certain grace to it, and a...giant clock? She had seen some of these whilst flying out and about probably, but never paid much attention to them, as she never flew low enough to really see what they looked like. Honestly, she tended to ignore buildings, not taking up much interest in them. Up close, from the ground, though...it was pretty interesting, actually.
"I can handle it. Maybe." She laughed a short bit. She didn't really encounter quite that many stairs that often, either. It was quite a feat, she thought. She couldn't help but look around as they walked up, taking interest in the structure of the building. How in the heck did someone even make this thing? It was huge. It must have taken ages...and how did it stand?
As soon as they reached the top, Silver stared at the gears for a few moments, entranced by them. They were like nothing she had really seen before; a bunch of metal? pieces moving about, spinning. So is this what humans were capable of? Building things like this? Figuring out how to make all these pieces of metal move in just the right way?
Silver then noticed Rion had walked off to a ledge on the clock, and quickly walked over to catch up to him. She stood next to him and leaned over the railing a bit, clearly entirely unafraid of falling off. She then looked in the direction he pointed in. What a beautiful view it was. She pulled her hood off so it did not obstruct her eyes as much, since there were no others around really anyway.
"Wow. That's really neat...I think this is the coolest thing you could've shown me. I love being high up...in the sky."
She crossed her arms on the railing and then leaned down, resting her head on her arms. She simply just stared at the view for several moments, quite pleased with it. Slowly, she was starting to think a little differently of humans. She still didn't trust them much, but maybe they weren't all so bad. She wanted to ask Rion all about the clock tower and what it was and how it worked, but she refrained, deciding to just hang out with him instead. At this point, she decided she wanted to get to know him more...he was awfully nice.
Then, a thought crossed her mind, after a few moments of silence. She kept looking at the beautiful view.
"Rion. Where are you from?"
Terra had been quiet ever since the meeting with Celestrus, trailing behind as the party entered Agrova. By now she was very unsatisfied with the group dynamic, it seemed like every time she'd opened her mouth now she'd been snapped at. The one perk that she could see in taking all of the heat onto herself was that it seemed to allow for Frida to ask similarly pointed questions which were actually answered. The elf captain's wit seemed just as sharp as the icicles she conjured, all the better since she was the only member of the group that Terra fully trusted. Rion was probably safe, but she was quite convinced that Silver would betray them at some point. It was interesting to see that she had some insecurity of her own regarding Agrova, just like Terra the dragon girl had drawn her traveler's cloak over her head and her hands never strayed far from her weapon.
And as for Lucas, that man was excitable, eccentric and... gone. Terra whipped her head around scanning the street but the lightning mage was nowhere in sight. They'd just arrived at the barracks, she couldn't possibly stop and look for him now. She had been fairly confident that Lucas had entered the city with them but now that she thought more about it she couldn't be sure. He was probably fine, just saw something that captured his interest and caused him to wander off. She pushed it to the back of her mind and hastened inside the barracks with her party.
Before long they were brought before one Captain Cliff who for some reason wouldn't believe their tale. The Blight Crystal shards by themselves might not have amounted to solid evidence in their current state but what about eye witness accounts of the attack? It was clear that the news had already spread from Aldur to Agrova, Terra thought it more likely that the captain simply didn't want to believe it. He was seemingly refusing to act until another town was wiped from the map, just like Delbray had been. Terra was about to say something rash but surprisingly, Silver said it first. Terra raised a curious eyebrow at the outburst, and then stepped back from the door as two newcomers dressed in military garb came in. One General Enfurnus and Shin, Terra didn't catch his rank, offered unexpected support for their claim but the party was still ushered out to discuss the matter amongst themselves. When it became apparent that Enfurnus and Shun were already acquaintances of Silver and Rion Terra became considerably less surprised by the timing of their supportive intervention and the mistrust flared up again.
What was interesting however was that Shin and Enfurnus seemed much more willing to share information than their respective acquaintances, especially since they were party of the military. So much so that Rion stormed off, prompting Silver to follow. Shin offered to provide more assistance after dusk and excused himself leaving Terra and Frida alone with Enfurnus, who offered additional information and encouraged them to ask for more, somehow knowing that Silver would not have and attempting to rectify the situation. Terra blinked, the offer stood in stark contrast to her experiences with Celestrus, Silver and Anemos. She'd never known a dragon to offer information, could she really trust that it would be accurate? Was his game spreading falsehood rather than evading questions? Terra walked with them to a nearby restaurant and listened intently as Frida launched into her initial round of questioning. And what she heard was... refreshing. Not only was Enfurnus informative but Terra was extremely relieved to find someone with actual power taking things seriously. "What else?" Enfurnus asked. "I feel we're just at the tip of the iceberg here... fire away." That was her cue.
"You said that arch mages create the Blight Crystals," Terra began, "Can they just conjure them into being or do they take an ordinary stone and imbue it with dark magic?" Ever since hearing the bit about Diamond Town Terra had been pondering its significance, maybe the diamonds could yield more powerful Blight Crystals? "I also wanted to know a little more about you if you don't mind. You said you've known Silver for 100 years but she told us she'd never been to Agrova, how long have you been stationed here?" Terra paused to let him answer and continued. "I've known one other dragon apart from Silver and Celestrus and all of them have been... reclusive. Silver carries herself like all humans are out to get her, and the other two shun society entirely and live in the wild. For you to attain such rank and respect from your peers paints a very different picture of dragon/human relations... I guess this isn't really a question, I'm just surprised that you're so open and willing to share. Especially since you're in the military and we're technically just civilians, I figured you'd be more tight lipped than anyone when if comes to secrets."
Rion watched as despite her ability to fly higher even than the platform they were standing atop of, Silver seemed to enjoy the view from the clock tower. While he wasn't sure about it being the 'coolest' thing, it was a place he liked to come up to every once in a while if he found himself in Agrova. He noticed she had decided to take off her hood, which had surprised him slightly. Perhaps she was finally beginning to ease up a bit around people... or maybe it was just him. However, he hadn't expected her to look back at him, asking where he was from. ... Well that's an... interesting question to ask. He thought, before looking in the direction of the mountains he had pointed out.
"I come from Eulene, it's a fairly large trade city in the mountains. There's a strong mineral mining operation in that region, and it's been known as a place of innovation thanks to having the resources to work on machinery. Some say the inventors there have helped bring transportation and trade to places that wouldn't have been possible decades ago." He explained, not having a lot more to say about the town other than what it was known for. Having answered that question, however... he wondered where she had come from, if it even existed anymore. After all, Enfurnus appeared to imply that Silver had been around quite a long time.
"What about you?"
Silver looked at Rion as he answered her question, interested in his response.
"That sounds interesting. Is it a primarily human city? It must be. Humans seem very talented at creating large things. I have never heard of that city before, though...maybe I've flown over it." She smiled. This sounds like something she would be interested in seeing...now that she had a trustworthy human to travel with. Would it be weird to mention that? Probably.
After answering her, Rion then asked where she came from. Oh boy. She should have seen that one coming, but she didn't for whatever reason. Nobody had really asked before. She looked to the mountains off in the distance again, her expression changing to one that was a bit more serious. After a few seconds of silent contemplation on how much she should say, she sighed.
"I lived in the far northwest, as far up as you can go before reaching the ocean. Where there are a lot of mountains and snow. Our territory did not have a name...like most dragons back then and still, we kept to ourselves. So...I know where it is, but not what it's called now on maps and such. Though I don't think it has a name, even now." She paused, and smiled a small bit. Though, there was pain behind that smile.
"It was a beautiful place. It had lush forests that turned white with snow in the winter that we all played in, and had plenty of food to hunt. It was one of very few territories of my kind, the silver dragons of lightning. Unlike your human cities, our colonies were not known for anything besides being dragons...but we were all very content with that. I lived there with my mother. She was the dragon, my father was a human. I never lived with the humans." She paused for a moment again, taking a deep breath. Should she tell him more? Would he even be interested in knowing much more than that? Maybe.
"It's gone now, and has been gone for a long time. We lost it to the blight. Along with nearly everyone that lived there. That's why...I am what I am. That's when it happened."
Silver sighed, resting her head back on her arms again while staring off in to the mountains. She hadn't really talked about it before, her home territory. Enfurnus was very aware of the situation, but she hadn't spoken to him much about it. While it brought up things she didn't want to think about...it was kind of nice to actually be able to tell someone in a way.
If only she had been stronger back then, maybe, just maybe, she could have saved them.
