Itham stood by the window of his cell, gazing upon the Statue. This time in confinement had been the response to his and her's efforts for the human race- it wasn't enough. The problems humans faced in The Frontier were still apparent. Discrimination against humans had kept them from rising to the same level as the elves here in the cities. Their lifespans had much to do with it, he reckoned. All races are proud of their lineage, and when elves are around to dispose of the pride in human ancestors, the disparity in their culture and social status seems ever wider than the bridges and rivers separating their 'sectors'. He would ask himself if he was failing, but given his situation it was rhetorical.
"Do you remember?" He spoke aloud, eyes fixed on the statue of his wife. "That long time ago, in the capital of Vane, where my little corner of entertainment drew crowds? How you appeared there one day, shrouded in a cloak, a former royal woman who'd made herself known the most powerful mage ever seen in the empire, stronger than any colleague or ancestor, beyond titan, beyond legend. What drew you to my stand that day? I was nothing more than a simple elf selling his art. Was it curiosity, that from a seat so high you'd left vacant to walk among the ants below you, or something else?"
"The things you said, your presence. An idealist inside an empress. If not awed by your status by your words I was dazed. Long disdain for the treatment of humans was held but accepted as common as breathing in Vane, but to hear you speak out against it was affirming and brought birth to the nation today. And spoke as well of your taste in art, kindred spirits we would turn to be no less. I of earth and stone, but you of ice. Perhaps you were.. like your own art, meant to melt and disappear, leaving us with only the memory of you. But so long as your vision remains over us, never will I not toil for the sake of their kind."
The guard stationed in Itham's cell stared and listened to Itham, and too was reminded of the legacy of The Queen. He bowed his head and dared not interrupt.
Itham stared down at the city below through the window of his cell. Across the river, he could see the politicians gathering outside the parliamentary building in the most northern part of the western sector. Tomorrow, he would clear his name and resume his duties. Far to the east he knew laid danger, in the tunnels of that haunted mountain. "Though my sworn duty to you is ever constant, my love, a greater threat rises to power and may overcome all of us. Elf and Man may always squabble, but only through these times may we find an understanding of one another."
From the crowd, he could see it clear. A bald head and a thick grey mustache, yellow pauldrons over his standard blue and gold uniform. Barr, going into the building for another day of work. Itham could only imagine the upheaval his actions had brought within those walls. He would sort this blight mage problem then sort this incident. His thoughts then drew away to his daughter, who he knew would soon go against this most dangerous threat.
"Though I am fearful.. I can think of no one more capable.." Itham thought. With her friends by her side, surely she would succeed. He would honor them as heroes for their deeds, though the public would not know the gravity of their victory. It was a rough realization, he thought. A party of elves and humans banding together led by the nation's beloved princess to defeat the ultimate evil. Such a tale may sew shut the growing rift in their people today. Itham smirked. Perhaps he was being a little too optimistic for someone currently locked away in a jail cell.

Arelyn stared hard at the group in front of her. Aqua's evasive attitude did not spark interest in the pair of initiates, just annoyed her. "It's been a long time since you've walked these halls yourself Lady Nyharllothor. Maybe you're the one who needs a lesson in magic." Arelyn was going to make her play this game, whether she wanted to or not.
Aqua glanced at Arelyn. "I wasn't exactly looking to start a fight with you, Arelyn." Aqua said. "I don't have time for this."
Arelyn smirked. She was playing right into her hands. "You sound stressed though, it’d be good for you to unwind." Arelyn goaded. "Unless you’re afraid that such a powerful mage as yourself would get shown up by a mere school teacher."
Aqua tried to brush it aside. "Arelyn, are you going to take this seriously or not? I'll ask Lord Silennai to spare the time if you are going to keep being difficult."
"Oh Frida, I hoped going to see the world would help you loosen up. You want me to train your friends? Then let them consider this their first lesson, they can watch and get a taste of the techniques I can impart." Arelyn grinned, then took a serious tone. "Their lessons for a duel. Refuse me, and I'll reject them outright."
Aqua looked at Terra and Arne. They were more than just friends. Beyond coming to rescue Aqua’s father Terra's most important reason for being here was was the hope that she'd find a new life here, and Arne was a kind man who stayed with them as they stared down hell. For their sakes she’d play Arelyn’s game. "Fine, Arelyn. You're on." Aqua accepted.
Arelyn smiled. "Good. Come with me, we will prepare for the duel in the eastern fields.”

Terra followed a step behind Frida as they all made their way out to the eastern fields. She'd volunteered to prove her own mettle but somehow Frida had gotten roped into standing for Arne and herself. Terra wasn't sure how to take this, the last time she'd spoken out of turn seemed to have made things worse. She'd have to trust Frida to handle the situation. This woman, Arelyn, it was hard to figure out her angle. It was clear that she and Frida had some sort of history but were they friends? Rivals? Terra couldn't say.
After a short time they reached the eastern fields where a battle arena stood ready and waiting for them. Terra took her place alongside Arne and Hien as the two elven women walked into the center of the arena and waited for the signal to begin.

Silver would listen as Rion and Sam spoke, and when he showed them the map she would look at it intently; the statue would be a useful land mark. The man mentioned an area that would be a good place to check out. Sam then mentioned her, perhaps implying that her ability to fly would be useful in this sort of situation. While she agreed, she would be hesitant to take her dragon form around so many people, but perhaps she could find a quiet place to shift and just stay high.
Rion would then ask her if she was up for a stealth mission.
"U-uh, yeah I am. This all sounds...really odd, especially the stuff with the children. How should we go about this? I can fly to scout the area, but it'd be a little weird if a dragon was just...suddenly here. I feel as if that would draw unwanted attention, even if I am on the smaller side."

Aqua drew Sharksbane, the weapon noticeably lighter. It was more of a staff and a harpoon, rather than the two sided spear she had been used to. It'd have to work. She looked across the mat to where Arelyn prepared herself. This ring was a ways bigger than the ring she had watched Arne and Terra battle the sumo wrestler in, she thought. There wasn't much construction to it, flattened earth sectioned off by rows of brick, with a thick white and red line of chalk to act as the rings boundary, and around them grass that had been trampled by the student mages. Easy to repair, probably good for magical battles like this.
Then, she glanced over at her two friends, who were now faces among a gathering crowd of students, teachers, and bystanders. She'd flash them a brief smile, before steeling herself for battle.
Arelyn stood opposite Aqua. She appeared rigid and proud but in truth her muscles were relaxed, one leg set a half step behind the other. It was a practiced combat stance, she could easily spin out of the way of any direct attack. It invited the opponent to make a brash assault and allowed Arelyn to quickly get a measure of her opponent's relative strength and speed. "This feels just like old times. Are you ready Princess?"
Aqua's expression eased. Were it not for the circumstances, she could maybe enjoy herself as Arelyn looked to be. "Ready to drop you and get this over with.." she mumbled to herself, then called out louder. "I'm ready when you are, Lady Arelyn." With that, she raised Sharksbane, crystal forward, and awaited the bell. A crowd had already started to gather as word spread around rapidly around the grounds about the match between the headmaster's daughter and their nation's princess. One of the senior students stood in for an official and sounded the bell to begin. “Lets start things out with something simple,” Arelyn decided, loosing a barrage of fireballs in Aqua’s direction. The first few would be easily blocked, but she was only getting warmed up. Arelyn continued to throw fire, but the next volley she’d manipulate with a bit of wind magic to dance out of Aqua’s reach, encircling her and striking the girl from above and behind. Aqua formed a forked spearhead for Sharksbane, before cutting the fireballs down with a sequence of defensive swings. The ice held firm, but the barrage kept her at bay, away from Arelyn. One however slipped around her swing, and then smashed into her rear. Aqua's eyes went wide with shock, before realizing that more were slipping past her defenses. She'd dive away from the position as the fireballs converged, and roll away. A glyph would form in her left hand, that she would point at Arelyn and launch her own volley of missiles from.
"You're rusty, Princess!" Arelyn jeered as one of her fireballs connected. Arelyn rolled to the side as Aqua retaliated, evading the first volley of missiles but she could see Aqua adjusting her aim. As the next volley of ice sailed towards her Arelyn waved her hand in front of her projecting a screen of fire, melting the missiles as they flew through it. Arelyn fed more magic into the screen, expanding it until it was as wide as the field and sent it flying toward Aqua.
"Not rusty enough for you to get a win!" Aqua responded, firing back at the encroaching wall of flame with a wall of ice she charged while Arelyn made hers. The two collided in a blast of light, scorching wind and boiling water as the magic waged against each other, the two mages feeding into their spells. The crowd would have to brace themselves against the powerful after effects now, as the mages threw out higher level spells and attacks.
"Good!" Arelyn called out as she begun making a circular motion with her hands and channeling a current of wind magic into the mess of steam that remained in the center of the field after both attacks had begun to dissipate. "I was wondering what it'd take to break that cool exterior of yours. Now show me what you've learned since the last time we fought!" As she spoke the wind kicked up and suddenly all of the residual magic energy was redirected back toward Aqua.
Aqua braced herself as the steam surrounded her. The steam was much hotter than normal under the control of a fire and wind mage. It felt like the water was boiling right on her skin, but she had a reason to let the attack hit her. She pulled her bolas loose from their clip and threw them through the cloud, right at Arelyn. Arelyn had expected Aqua to dodge the cloud of steam, and was caught off guard as the bolas arced through the center and wrapped around her torso, encasing her limbs in ice. That’ll cost you though Arelyn thought. With her hands bound she was no longer able to control the air current and the steam attack would dissipate quickly. But even so, it was a painful trade, and she was surprised Aqua had been willing to risk it. Arelyn called on her fire magics and quickly began to burn through her icy bonds.
Aqua pushed through the cloud quickly. She was able to cool some of the steam that hit her, but it left a nice sting all over as she cleared the steam, in time to see Arelyn just nearly free of her trap. Aqua lunged forward with Sharksbane and swung heavily down on the snared elf. As Aqua charged through the cloud of steam Arelyn freed herself from the ice bolas and stepped into the attack, meeting Aqua head on. There came a brilliant flash as fire jumped from her hands, forming a pair of blades to intercept Sharksbane. Their weapons locked up, neither elf yielding an inch of ground. “Hmm, this looks different from how I remember,” Arelyn said thoughtfully, remarking on Sharksbane’s new appearance as one might casually comment on the weather. Then she broke away from the weapons lock with one of her blades and slashed at Aqua’s leg armor.

Aqua parried Arelyn's slash at her leg with the body of her staff, and whipped the spear around her as she swung a few defensive swings at Arelyn, keeping her from getting in too close to her body. But she'd strike again, forming a glyph under Arelyn and raising a block of ice beneath her, shooting her high into the air.
Arelyn continued her assault, forcing Aqua to use her staff defensively. She wasn't able to land any body blows but she was certainly forcing the princess backward. As Arelyn pressed forward a glyph formed under her feet, something she'd been expecting. A less graceful opponent would have lost their footing but Arelyn was able to keep her balance as the block of ice carried her upward. Arelyn looked down on Aqua and raised an eyebrow. "Is this the best you can do? If only you could control two elements, maybe then you'd be able to keep up with me." Before Aqua could respond Arelyn hurled her swords into the ground on either side of the princess, exploding simultaneously a moment later.
Aqua didn't seem to move or react even as the explosions overwhelmed her. When the smoke cleared, she was still standing, but then fell over, rigid, and shattered on the ground. The real Aqua, safely away on the other side of the pillar braced herself as the wind and heat blew past her. The strength of the attack had some real power in it, and if she had taken that hit she'd be waking up at the healers. If Arelyn was going all out, then she would too. Glyphs appeared around her as she pushed her hand through one. Below Arelyn, the pillar moved violently as it cracked and reshaped itself into a massive open hand that snatched at the elf.
Arelyn reacted quickly, as soon as she'd realized the trick Aqua had pulled but she wasn't quite swift enough. The ice block she stood on had transformed into a giant hand, and before she could leap away it had enclosed itself around her ankles. Arelyn ignited her fists in flame and began to chip away at the icy fingers that ensnared her. As she struggled the pillar began to sway, the foundation already weakened by the explosive blast, until the entire thing began to tip over. Before crashing to the ground Arelyn reacted, unleashing a gust of wind from her outstretched palms, slowing the descent somewhat. The ice cracked on impact and Arelyn rolled to her feet, having lost sight of Aqua and wary about the attack that would follow.
Aqua watched as her magic did its work, then at the glyph on her wrist as it faded. Arelyn had fallen close to the ring's perimeter and all she had to do was knock her out to finish the duel. Aqua raised both her hands, spread out before her as glyphs formed a cage. Ice and snow flooded and grew in the space in a sphere, until an enormous snowball, twice the size of Aqua formed. With a flick of her wrist the ball sailed forth at Arelyn, to catch her up and roll her right out of the ring.
Arelyn wasn't prepared as something heavy and cold crashed into her and swept her up. Disoriented though she was, there was one thought that kept her grounded. She wasn't about to let Aqua beat her. "Not. So. Fast." She shouted as the mass of snow and ice was blasted apart from the inside.
The wind howled and began to pick up prompting Aqua to shield her eyes. "She withstood that?" She asked incredulously. Arelyn floated before her radiating with heat, her wind magic feeding the flames. Arelyn raised her arms creating a circle of fire with Aqua trapped in the center, then with a sudden burst of speed rocketed down toward the princess. Aqua tried to duck but Arelyn seized her by the shoulders as she flew down, flipping her 270 degrees and hurling her bodily out of the ring.

Terra was awestruck by Arelyn, not only the elf's power but her control and the way she commanded of the element. It was humbling to see a master at work, Terra had felt the same after watching Yung Fueg. She definitely had a lot to learn.
Arelyn had succeeded in keeping Frida on the defensive for most of the battle. Maybe it was because the two elven women were already acquainted but the tension Terra felt now seemed different from watching Rion's match against Yung. A crowd of students had formed around Arne and Terra, and they were loving every second of this exhibition match. Terra was sure it was a rare occurrence for one of their instructors to face such an even challenge, to say nothing of the hero worship that followed Frida everywhere she traveled. She wondered idly who the crowd favorite was, but it seemed like most of them were just here for the show.
After awhile Frida gained the upper hand, and Terra began jumping up and down screaming excitedly when it looked like she might win. Only for Arelyn to turn the tables a moment later with an awesome display of power and now Frida was sailing through the air and out of the ring.... Terra turned and immediately began pushing through the crowd of people, determined to reach her friend in time.

Rion nodded and waved to Sam as he headed back to his patrol, before looking over to Silver. While he felt she had a point about drawing unwanted attention, she definitely had the advantage of being able to make her way to higher vantage points. However, that was why he agreed with the sentiment of saving that part until nightfall. He smiled after she finished speaking.
"Let's take a look around the area while we've still got some daylight, maybe pick out a few places you think you can get a good view from. We won't have much to go off of until nightfall anyway, and I'm guessing if you just move across a few rooftops while I keep up and check for anything weird on the ground we can get a good idea of where the children are heading. At least this way we can give Aqua an idea of what our plans are in case we do run into trouble. Sound good?" he waited a few seconds to hear what Silver had to say, before looking at the map and beginning to follow the path that would lead them to the southern part of the Eastern Sector.

Victory was in her hands, then snatched away. Aqua was in shock as Arelyn had completely overwhelmed her, not to mention the sensation of being launched from the ring and flipping through the sky did not sit well with her. Only now that she had lost had she realized how important it was to win, because that girl made it clear she thought of her as no more than a whimsical, falsely-lauded celebrity. And that she had held back until the end? Weak. This grief stung worse than the steam from earlier.
Aqua was caught mid-air by none other than Terra, as the pair landed and skidded onto the ground. She must have underestimated just how hard Arelyn chucked her. After a moment, Aqua felt the heat in her face as she lay soundly bested outside the ring, held by her savior, and with a crowd to bear witness no less. It took one snicker from the onlookers to make her face really turn red, as she quickly freed herself from Terra's grasp. "Thank you for the save Terra, but I've got to get back in there and smash that flaming broad to ash." She'd try to stand, but falter as her body and senses wobbled from the last attack.
"Hold up, that was a big hit, let's take this slow," Terra started to say as she helped her friend rise to her feet, but Aqua had no time to waste. Terra's protests went unheard as Aqua marched back through the crowd and into the ring once more. "Ah there she is!" Arelyn called out loudly once she saw Aqua. "Already back on her feet and from the looks of things ready for more. I had to twist your arm to get you to agree to one match, but then I remember neither of us like losing."
Aqua stomped back into the ring, ignoring Terra. "It's not losing, it was just the end of the first round. And I was going easy on you since you can't teach magic if you're in a wheelchair, but if you're going to pull out moves like that there's no point. You can clearly handle more." Aqua snapped. She was angry and in pain. Only now that she was back in the ring did she realize that her spear wasn't with her. She looked around and saw it wedged in a tree trunk in a nearby field.
"Hm, I think we both could've handled a bit more." Arelyn responded with a thoughtful smile. "But to borrow your words from earlier 'I am a busy elf' and we'll have to continue this another day. I'll keep my word though, your two friends are welcome to train here. As are you."
Aqua clenched her teeth and felt her body pulse as if to summon a glyph, but she held back and tried to relax. Arelyn was getting under her skin, and she had to calm down. "No. There's no time for that. Coming here was never about me." Arelyn's remark was true, however. Aqua needed to be stronger too. She couldn't take down Silver, that three headed dragon, and she might have just gotten lucky against Calico. Maybe she was the one who was really lacking. Arelyn had her father to train her, but Aqua had no one. Not anymore. And she was on the verge of losing more, possibly everything. "Well then.. if we're done here.." she started, but felt unsure what to say with so many eyes on her.
"Are you sure you won't reconsider training here with your friends?" Arelyn asked quietly enough that no one besides Aqua would overhear. "I don't mean to bring up a painful topic but with your mother gone I really think you could benefit from training alongside another master. There is so much you could learn from the Archmage, you've just seen how much I've improved since the last time we faced off. You should stay."
Aqua felt a quick rise as Arelyn brought up a sore subject. Aqua did think about her offer, genuinely. But she could not. Her teacher, her mother, was still out there somewhere, but she didn't know where. And without her mother there was no one to stop the Blight Mage, the task fell on her now. Then there was still the problem with her father, and the missing children problem. There was quite literally no time for her to be here. But Terra and Arne could, if in the time they spent here gave them the edge against the blight it would be worth it all. "I could learn much, you're right.. but I don't have the time. Mother may be gone, but I can still save father. And there's more danger to worry about. I can't be here."
Arelyn sighed. "That's not the answer I hoped to hear but I understand. If it were my father I'd stop at nothing to secure his release. If it helps, my father says the charges against Lord Itham are preposterous and he expects his release any day now. Perhaps you'll be able to make time after that's been cleared up." Arelyn gave Aqua a hopeful smile. "It really was good to see you again Frida. It felt like old times."
"Yeah. Just like old times." For some reason, she couldn't afford herself the good feeling of seeing an old friend. This stress was obviously getting to her. "If you'll excuse me, I have to go get my stick." Aqua walked off the mat and out into the field to pull Sharksbane from the tree. Once out there, she took a seat against the tree trunk to rest.

Silver nodded in response to Rion. She was glad that her idea made sense. Her first instinct was always to use her dragon form for these sorts of things.
"That sounds like a good idea. I just need somewhere empty to change forms...then that should be that. Lead the way for now, and I shall follow." She smiled a she spoke. They were a good team.
She would then follow along as Rion used the map to make his way around. She kept an eye out for anything weird as they walked.

Rion and Silver would make their way through the town. On their way, they would pass through the last of the crowds of citizens. Out this far, the Statue of the Savior seemed quite far away, with only the tip of it's tiara and staff visible above the rooftops. The buildings here seemed to be in worse shape the further they traveled. Cracked or boarded up windows, barren streets, and abandoned buildings everywhere you turned. As for the people, they matched the scenery. Strangers would cast glances at the pair traveling through the area before turning themselves away in haste. One could feel the tension in the air as their stares held for longer than usual, but never did they accost or obstruct the couple. The trip seemed to take them longer than expected, as the streets became narrower and became winding alleys without any warning, and the sky above darkened with storm clouds.
However, the pair would notice something odd. A human child dressed in rags walked fearlessly and without pause through this eerie sector, and was largely ignored by the people. The child caught sight of the two as they rounded a corner, and quickened his pace away from them. It was, by and large, the most suspicious behavior they'd seen as of yet.
~
Rion moved quietly with Silver towards the southern end of the Eastern Sector, though before long a frown came over his face as he noticed the buildings and pathways becoming increasingly derelict. "... Did something happen to this part of the city?" he wondered, trying to think of a reasonable cause for this portion of Meribia to seem almost ignored by those who had otherwise hailed the city as a place where the two races had united. It was clear as well that the people inhabiting this region were in a similar state of neglect, which seemed to go against Aqua and Itham's beliefs, at the very least.
For a while, it seemed that while they were clearly noticed, no attempt was made by the townsfolk to deviate from their business as Rion and Silver passed through. However, once their eyes came across a child who immediately ran in the opposite direction, Rion looked to Silver. "... Something tells me that's no coincidence, but I'm not sure about running after a kid in a place like this..."
~
Silver would wander along, watching the sights. She enjoyed the city. But as they reached the broken down area, she would begin to look more and more....disappointed. She did not like that these people seemed to be in poverty while the rest of the city was so well-kept. What was up with this?
"I...don't know, but I don't like it. Nobody should live like this." She would reply quietly to Rion. Their stares, however, quickly made the dragon uncomfortable. No matter the circumstance, Silver did not like eyes on her, and she didn't really understand the reason for the staring. She would stick closer to Rion, slightly on guard.
And then she would spot the child, who seemed to take off upon seeing them. She would try to watch where the child was going, but her ability to do so was limited at best.
"...Yes, you are probably right. But what should we do about that? He's only a kid, but that was just....weird." She spoke quietly once more to make sure nobody overheard. This entire area was suspicious, and it wasn't the people who made her think that. It was the condition of the area that seemed to so heavily contrast the rest of the city.
The child halted in his trek. Something was wrong. In the child's mind, shadows crept slowly from the corners of his vision, these same shadows had been haunting his dreams with images of a place in the city. He was to find it and go there at night, yet something compelled him to do so now at midday. He was not supposed to be seen, and yet it felt he was now supposed to be seen by whomever these people were. He slowly turned toward the pair and held eye contact, eyes wide in terror as his skin went deathly pale. Suddenly, a white, long, and thin vine with gnarled thorns appeared behind the child and snared him, dragging him away through the streets and away from Rion and Silver.
~
Rion looked to Silver, then shrugged. "I guess it gives us a direction to start in... could be running for any number of reasons, but maybe we'll spot them again?" he said, before walking in the direction that child had run off in. However, it wasn't long before the pair spotted the child again, though it seemed like the child had seen a ghost sometime after leaving their sight judging by the look on his face.
"H-hey, kid... you okay?"
Of course, no sooner had Rion asked the question before the vine pulled the child away. "The hell was that?" he looked to Silver before frowning. "Really not liking the look of this, but we've gotta try and get after him." With that, Rion began taking off in a sprint, attempting to follow the direction the child had been pulled.

Silver would look at the child. She was a bit frightened by his expression...but more so for him and not for herself. Something was not right with this kid. And then a weird vine would suddenly begin to drag the kid away.
"W-what the heck?" She would look to Rion, who mentioned going after the kid. "...Yes, leave it to me."
Silver would run after the kid as well, now concerned for his safety. She wasn't sure if he was good or bad, but...he was just a kid. As soon as she found some cover, she would quickly shift to her dragon form and take to the skies to pursue him. This area was desolate enough for her to do so rather safely, but she would try to keep herself concealed as much as possible and stay high up whilst chasing him. She was considerably fast, so it would be only a matter of time before she would be able to catch up.

The child struggled against the vine to little avail, as being dragged across the streets soon knocked him into a daze. The vine pulled the boy into a rundown building away from the rest, in a abandoned square, through a door which slammed shut the moment he passed through. "Excellent work, Greta." A voice whispered from not so far away. A young male elf watched the kidnapping take place, though he hardly considered it such as the child was a thrall. The young man had done his part, even if his control on him had faded at the last moment. An evil smile crept across his face as he watched them close in. A light mage with his arm clad in metal charging headlong toward the building, but ho, a dragon, teeming in corruption above? This was interesting, the machine hadn't told him about this.

The dark mage worried not about this new threat. It had played its hand already and now they were both in his trap. A portal opened up behind the mage, and simultaneously behind Silver, in the air. Greys leapt through as dark energy swelled in his palms, absorbing the light around it in a swirling vortex. His hands together, and now above the dragon, a blast of black colored flames rained down on the silver dragon, sending her plummeting straight down from the sky. Greys watched from above, floating down slowly as the dragon attempted to rise, the wind blowing back his cowl and revealing the young man's face, his elven features, red eyes, short black hair and two gold loops in his left ear. "Greetings, dear sister of the cursed art, and to you, our kind's bane." He landed before them, hovering just before touching the ground with his bare feet. "You may suffer a delightful death, a release from the strife of your mortality. Fear not the grip of death, however!" His voice rose in excitement as vortexes of energy appeared around him in the dozens. "Your eternal rest will not last, you will rise again as my servants!" With a wave forward of his hand, streams of dark energy burst forth from the ground and swarmed the pair.

Rion and Silver chased the child as he was being pulled away, with Silver soon taking to the air while Rion ran along the ground. As the child was pulled into a building, Rion rushed forward, his body beginning to glow with light as he aimed to ram through the closed door. However, the sound that erupted from the dark mage's spell caused him to turn around just as Silver was sent into the ground. "Silver!" he called out, only to watch as the mage drifted to the ground to join them. "You... are you the one behind all this?!" he shouted as the mage began to taunt them, claiming they would suffer a "delightful" death before launching another attack.
'Can't let those hit Silver...' Rion would hurry to Silver's aid, the crystals bound to his body beginning to glow with increasing intensity as he stood in front of Silver and threw his left hand forward, forming a barrier between them and the streams of dark energy. "Tch... come on..." he grunted as he continued to push against the energy, looking back toward Silver. "Still with me?" he asked, hoping the blast hadn't completely taken her out of the fight, or perhaps worse; the last thing he needed was to deal with a mage of considerable power on top of Silver losing control.
Rion continued to try and hold his ground, though as the energy started to push him back to a point where it would push him into Silver, his outstretched fingers closed as a blade of light formed in the space directly in front of him, which he quickly swung to the side in order to release a slicing wave of light to try and cut through the streams and perhaps even damage the enemy. He held the blade up with both arms as the light solidified into a glowing crystalline form, the markings shown during his fight with Yung revealing themselves as he prepared to take on this new foe with as much strength as he could muster.
The only problem Rion considered first and foremost was that they seemed to be in a part of the city that was even more barren than the rest, would anyone even be around to send for aid? Was this location what pushed the mage to attack in broad daylight, knowing that it would take time for support to arrive even if called? There was little that could be done about it now; Rion and Silver would have to try and fight for the moment.
