Dust and sand blew in the harsh morning winds of Berseria's northern crest below a dark morning sky, where sunlight tipped the sand dunes and mountain ranges like stars in the night sky. Five individuals gathered around a dying campfire as they finished packing the last of their goods. The men all had hard faces, waiting for their commanding officer to give them their orders, now that morning came.
Tyven, sitting on his backpack and other goods, scratched at his beard while looking down at some papers with scrutiny. His warhammer, which bore a yellow earth crystal in it's center, sat propped against his shoulder. The other men likewise stared down at the flames, all dressed in similar dress. Finally, the beastman spoke. "We're finally out of Vane.." he said thoughtfully. The men would have cheered, if not for the cost they paid to arrive here. "away from the border.." Tyven stood up, laying his hammer down where he had sat.
"I understand if what you want now is to put as much distance between yourselves and the Elf Kingdom as you can. Believe me, I do. But remember our oath. We're here to find the one man who can bring an end to a lifetime of pain and suffering for our kind. Human, Beastman, Dragon, all enslaved to the elves and their overwhelming magic prowess. This isn't about us anymore, it's about those still in chains." Tyven said, rallying his men's morale. But the men merely shuffled around the fire, quietly listening to Tyven's speech.
"And the risks we took to get here.. 50 of us in the beginning, now five. Whether by fate that only one of us briefed about each of the known areas made it, or by luck, it's in our hands now." The men raised their heads one by one as Tyven strode, each handing the other a page that he was carrying, listing off the locations, contacts, and any other information pertinent. Finally, he came to the last one, a man with pink hair escaping under a knit cap.
"Vile, Venus Oasis lies south of here, and will take you several days to reach by road. The target was seen here gathering information about a bandit, most likely seeking the posted bounty. This was his most recent location. With your ability to move as quickly as you can, you're best suited to chase him down to his next location. The others will lie in wait at his other known habitats. He is not expected to know anything about who he is, and will likely disregard your story. You'll have to convince him, either by persuasion or force."
"I understand." Vile said, taking the sheet of paper. With that, Tyven announced the start of the mission. "Recover the Prince. We will meet in the nation's capital in one month's time, at the Howling Seven Inn." And with that, they scattered like shadows against the rising sun.

In a quiet bar in Venus Oasis, a man sat in the corner, his head down on the table and a half full bottle of whiskey sat in front of him. He groggily raised his head to look out the window as the dust clouds rolled in. Bandits, wielding sabers, spears, and spells, descended on the defenseless outpost in the brink of day. The man slowly dragged himself up from the chair as the sounds of battle approached, dusted himself off and pushed the saloon doors wide open. "Bad day for this.."
