..He compared himself to Paul Revere... the man who helped us win a war, and our freedom.
Jack Thompson is no Paul Revere.

And he is a little too crazy - kids these days are being more responsible now. Only the minorities might be considered too absorptive into the stylized violence.
I think he's like what Laura Mallory and Sariya Allan are to Harry Potter.

No, its the same thing all over again, the dumb parents aren't parenting. And as a result we have spoiled, bratty kid. Police aren't supposed to take the place of parents.

Us as gamers may hate this guy, but can you even imagine how many parents must support this psycho.

My parents hate him too.
But then again, my parents are gamers. >_>;

If my parents even knew about him they'd hate him. They may agree with his point (As I sort of do, in the sense that it shouldn't be nearly as easy for young people to obtain M-Rated games as it is right now.) but they'd really dislike how he's going about it all.

I still support the notion that, the vast majority of people who support him are the ones who have no clue of the problems in their ( or their kid's ) lives.
These parents are idiots, they remain ignorant to what is going on, allow kids to do what they want, then get upset when something goes wrong and look for someone to blame it all on. Media, videogames, internet... Anything but the real cause.
Jack thompson is just an icon. A rally point for ignorance and idiocy.

I bet he overturns a few tables and throws a tantrum if he's disbarred >=D
Thing is, if he does get disbarred he might not slink away and shoot himself, I can see him being even more outspoken about the evils of gaming if he hasn't got to look over his shoulder and worry about the BAR. Once he's off his leash it might be gloves off.

gamepolitics.com/category/jack-thompson/A small update in that Thompson thinks he's winning, even though he has barely begun his defense. Prosecution took up most of the week, and there some pretty good witnesses against him.

He thinks he's winning... but in reality his actions have been inexcusable, he's maliciously attacking an entire culture based on his beliefs with absolutely zero evidence, which is far out of the appropriate conduct of a lawyer. The barrister's society was right for doing this, only thing is thye should have done it sooner... Especially since he announced his anti-video game advacacy, then went on to attempt to persecute anyone involved... That should have been enough to automatically get him ejected from the barrister's society and banned from practicing law.
And if he loses that means that he'll no longer be able to bring suits forward like he does, atleast not as easily because he'll have to hire a lawyer to do it. (Which will cost him alot of money so he'll be able to bring one or two cases at tops but after that none.)
