some guys who live in our region died in a car crash. they were street racing, and the police found need 4 speed in one of the cars. games can be bad if u cant handle them. You’re looking at it the wrong way. so what if they found a "Need for Speed" title in a car that was crashes in a street race, the game does not say "Hey, you should do something completely stupid that could get you killed", the person made the decision on there own and the blame should be placed on no one but them.

What Tony is saying is that if someone told you to jump off a cliff, and you did, your stupidity would have played a much bigger part than the guy who told you to jump.

I admit, there are times when I've played 'need for speed' that I've thought "wow that looks sweet, that'd be so cool if I could do that" but I don't. Why? Because I don't want to die or spend my life in jail, you need to have a good enough mind to not do it. In my opinion, Jack Thompson is looking at this the wrong way. Games allow us to do what we know is wrong in real life. I'm not a big fan of cops myself, 9/10 are fat and out of shape and would be useless in a real emergency but they strut around thinking they are better than the common person. Now I would never go shoot a real one or crash into one but its fine with me if I do it in a video game. Taking this angle, video games actually prevent violent behavior by giving people a substitute for something that would not be right to actually do.

I think Swim made a very good point. Video games really are a way of doing things you would never be able to do in real life, in this sense, people wouldn't try to do the things you do in video games in real life unless they're idiots. If Jack Thompson want's anything to be mad at, it should be stupid people.

Jack Thompson is a stupid person, he's not going to get mad at himself. I just feel bad for his kid, I bet he has no privacy. But thanks for backing that point. Anyone have his email? I think I might even rewrite and send that point to him. I'm sure I could find it on the net somewhere..

The man is clearly insane, he needs to be locked away and sedated.

And yet again, he fails to see the truth, the guy in the middle was dead on.

I hate to say it but Thompson will never change his mind, he's a frigging attorney and once his mind is set, no amount of evidence will convince him otherwise. Kind of sad really, all my friends want me to become an attorney since they never win their arguements with me. Anyway I searched last night and I could not find an email address for Mr. Thompson and what's the point, it'd be like argueing with smarterchild and like Shaun's sig tells us, "Arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics. Even if you win you're still retarded." I dunno, he just fails to see sense, video games are a good way of taking anger out on a nonliving target, much like a pillow or a punching bag. Mark my words, if Jack ever achieves his goal he'll work on banning pillows next. In all honesty though, if you had a bad day, doesn't it help to flop down on your butt and blow some stuff up??

In all honesty though, if you had a bad day, doesn't it help to flop down on your butt and blow some stuff up?? Good day, bad day, sad day, happy day, ok day, twisted day, disturbing day, best day of your life, it don't matter. When does anybody need an excuse to sit down and blow something up?
