Super Mario Bros. is 25 this month, and to mark the occasion Nintendo is releasing this hot new variant of the Wii in, what else, Mario Red. It'll be out in Japan on November 11, and will retail for ¥20,000 (USD$240). What's more, it'll also include not a Wii Remote, but one of the new Wii Remote Plus peripherals which combines the functionality of a Wii Remote with that of the MotionPlus add-on (these controllers will also go on sale individually on the same date). Because it's a Mario celebration, these 25th anniversary Wiis will also come with a copy of Super Mario Bros. pre-installed on the system. It's not just any copy, either, with the game's trademark gold coin bricks modified to say "25" on the front.

Whoa... the Wii's that easily affordable now.
I got mine in around early 2008 for about $325 from eBay, which was a relatively good deal compared to the other prices used at the time, which was at around... $400? $500 or even $600? I can't remember.

That's a bit much... I can imagine them going for that much on eBay around late 2006 when they were really really rare, but the most a Wii has ever cost in stores is $250.
Still, $170 is pretty good now.

It was a good deal when the Wii kept getting sold out in all of the local stores during that time.
That, and my Dad wanted it first, not me.

In honor of the thing being 5 years old I went back in time and re-read the early posts in this thread from the beginning. Kind of like opening a time capsule. Xero's prediction that playing SSB online would be awesome turned out to be half true, I don't think any of us are truly satisfied with the way Nintendo did Wi-Fi and match making there. A whole bunch of our senior members, including myself, talking like noobs and ignoring proper punctuation and spelling. If that doesn't take you back... But most of all No matter what the name it I, for one, shall always call it by it's true name: "Nintendo Revolution". Yeah. That held up.
