Upon reading up on this game, I found that it would have 3rd-person free-roaming gameplay like Sagas did, and long ago I read that it's gameplay was going to be based on Budokai 3's engine.
Tell me, does anybody agree that this game's entire concept sounds like a glorified Sagas?

I say as long as it has good gameplay to hold everyone and looks decent, nobody will care about it being a rehash. Just look at the Pokemon series. How many times do u gotta catch those little bastards? They just make it look nicer every time.

Yeah.. Sagas ruined it for me. Makes me not wanna buy another DBZ game ever. Sagas had to be one of the worste games of DBZ.

Yea i played Sagas too. It blowed ass, I got bored with the first level, with its linear ass gameplay, and with its punch-a-boulder-and-the-pieces-bounce-crap. And those stupid Z-coins, wat the hell was that all about? O collect 5 to get some sh*tty ass move. Whoop-de-doo...

I'm one of the few that actually played Sagas through to the end. The last boss fight is VERY hard. You, of course, use Gohan. However, you've got to attack him to the point you get SSJ, then you've gotta TRANSFORM to SSJ, which then your power meter will decrease, so you've gotta keep attacking him until you get SSJ2 and transform QUICKLY, and the only time you CAN do damage to Cell is when you're SSJ2. Every other time you don't even scratch him. Every hit also adds a small bit of power to the power bar, and charging your ki doesn't do anything to the power bar, just replenishes your ki bar. Both freakin' pathetic and like a 3D version of Legacy of Goku.
Well, the Gamecube version couldn't have had WORSER sounds, they were all sampled at like 8000hz, which hasn't been seen since PSone games. The music, although somewhat decent, loops badly. No fade-outs here. I'd rather listen to & MIDI the main menu theme to the game.
The person with the most lines in this game is: The DBZ Narrator. He says more stuff than Cell makes obnoxious comments in the anime. Everybody else has 3 or 4 samples. That's it. The 'Pendulum' mode... Sure, it lets you go through with different characters, but most of them are all just alternative versions of the main player characters, (Just tell me, Atari, what is the difference between normal Goku and a goku that is armored? What's the difference between Saiyan Armor Vegeta and Cell Games Vegeta? How do Bardock and Goku play different?) and even then, they all play the same. I re-state: A 3D Legacy of Goku.

I know, reviving thread, but I feel its worth it since Tenkachi is scheduled for release today, and I'm probably going to go get it. I've watched a few videos on the game, and the biggest concern I have is the change from side-view, Virtua Fighter-esce fighting to the almost 3rd-person free roaming battle. You just can't go into this game expecting it to be like the other Budokai games. I had also read a nasty rumor that there were no in-match transformations, I hope that's not true. But I'll give a much fairer assesment later tonight, after I've played it.
As far as Sagas, I beat it. The hardest fights were the last fight with Cell, as Fusion said, and the fight with Vegeta. Vegeta never let up in his attack. If you stayed in close he constantly combo-ed you, if you kept your distance he kept firing Gallet Guns. Its like he never ran out of ki. And the whole Pendulum Room thing, where you can play as one of several characters, was fun for about 5 mins. I got to beat Frieza with Brolly, and that was entertaining. But I hope if another one is released, they SERIOUSLY consider giving out DIFFERENT MOVES for characters. You just buy a combo and everybody gets to do it, and all it is is pushing punch and kick in a different order. And maybe some actual beams, all the big energy blasts were still just projectiles.

Xzero overrates the game if you ask me. You're clothes don't gradually rip, you're either perfectly fine or totally f**ked up. The one thing that'll really screw you up on this game is playing Budokai 3 for a week before you get it, cause it plays NOTHING like the other Budokais. There is no punch and kick, you have one button for hand-to-hand, one for ki blasts, one for blocking, and one for dashing. Left side trigger buttons work on locking on and charging ki, right side triggers work with elevating and lowering yourself. I must admit, the free-roaming nature is much more fitting to a DBZ fight, but if you're in a pinch and need a little breathing room, its almost impossible to get away. Try running away from a Oorazu Vegeta, the battlefield gets real small real quick. Also, I hate to say this, but there's the fact that every character's controls are exactly the same. You push these buttons together for one blast, these buttons for your second blasts, these buttons for your ultimate blast, and so on and so on. And as I said earlier, no in-match transformations. Some people might like that, being able to just pick a SSJ3 Goku and go for it, but not I. There are no more big cinematic attacks anymore, and the animation outside of battle looks bad, like there was no motion-capture involved at all. I don't think the characters' graphics are as good as Budokai 3's either. There's no facial expressions.
However, if you can get past all that, the main battle mode, the Z-battle Gate, will keep you busy. You basically fight damn near EVERY fight that ever happened in DBZ, a couple in DBGT, and a few "what if" fights, including the occasional movie. I've fought Bojack, Broly, and Janemba. The whole capusle thing is kinda different too, instead you have "Z-items." They're not moves now, just stuff like attack-up, defense-up, and such. Also, you can fuse items, like you can take two attack+1 items, put em together, and get a attack+2 item. There's also Z-fusion items that basically help you unlock characters, like you fuse a SSJ2 Vegeta item with a Babadi item, and it unlocks Majin Vegeta. Or you fuse a Super Sayian item with a Vegito item, you unlock SSJ Vegito.
My fair assesment? As long as you don't expect another Budokai, its not bad. It just takes some getting use to. Some of the more complex moves take some getting use to, like dodging and such, but I've played worse DBZ games. *coughsagascough*

I have foughten everything, Sayian, freeza, android, buu, dojack, janemba, cooler, broly, the onme where you are Frezza and beat the people on namek and cooler in the end, revenge of the sayains where your the sayains and kill freeza, the bardock saga, the plan to enslave earth where your all the villans, super 17, bebi saga, and the true world torunament saga you wish for, and i have all chars except the ones you wish for, and have beaten all torurnament modes, and for more advance controls it would be, L2 charges ki, and that + triangle, or up triagle, and down triangle, does your three moves which ever char has a diffenrt kind of almost, and even there diffenr tforms have differnts, plus you cna do it with o and up o nad do some differnt moves, L1 would be to lock on to target if in view, and or unlock and roam free , R1 and R2 are in smae order Jump/levatate up and levatate down.Square is the punching and kicking buttons, while punching and kicking pressing x will know the wind out of em, pressing and holding up and then pressing x will grab the opponent and do a sorta grap move, punching and press in left or right and o will super speed toanother side of em, a direction and x normal will dash, and while l2 is held super dash, o blocks and knos energy waves the super speed cna be used when they trya dahs attack or energy attack, triangle is normal energys, and hold ing punch button or doing a certain move can nock you back if done to you and then you can pres a combination of buttons that appears on the button to stop or counter, then theres a tally of 57 chars, 87 counting the extra forms super sayain ,etc, i have yet to know if normal bojack or cooler first form are on there, and theres a rumor that pikon is on there but im pretty sure that isnt true, the omega shenron saga isnt on there, my gusse is to have an excuse for a second one, and maybe add chars they forgot, the story is to get shenrons moemorys back by experienceing the greatest battle, i dunno what i meant when i said custom char that is a no. lets see, the tourney modes are the same as before but with aan extra called cell games added to dificulty, and Ultimate fighter mode where you fight a wopping 100 fighters and get points each time you win and losse them when you loose if you lose them all you start over, duleing is the same though you cna hear some of vegetas smart ass remarks. The style of the game is more graphic than the others with more detail expect in the facial expressions, my rating on this game would be a 9 outa ten. i enjoy, it but once its abet its beat so 8 1/2. My best three chars are Janemba, Vegeta(scouter), Majin Buu(Pure evil), My favorite on ther eot be is Cell jr. i like his stance and the way he looks and such.
