2 names, 1 winner
here you can discuss the outcome of a fight for as long as needs be
1st up
Renji vs. Konohamaru
before you say one or the other.. remember, their bankai are pretty even. and speed and strength too most liekly.
so thoughts?

...Konohamaru...? As in the snotty little brat from Naruto? Renji wins without using shikai.

Sorry, but if Ichigo can own Renji without even using bankai, then just imagine what Konohamaru can do to em...so I say Konohamaru or Komamura, whatever his name is

I s'pose...I dunno. It's plausible I guess. But I still go with Konohamaru/Komamura

It's Komamura.
And yeah, I think I'ma have to go with furface for this one, too. He's captain level for a reason, after all.

That's a tough one... Byakuya has an advantage when it comes to sheer speed and volume of attacks, but I don't think he has the raw power to compete with Kenpachi...

Kenpachi has the raw power, endurance, and he's pretty fast too... But in all honesty I don't think he can compete with Byakuya. Byakuya's bankai is too powerful considering that kenpachi doesn't have a shikai. Kenpachi might be able to take a few cuts, but Byakuya's bankai would be too much. Especially considering the explanation given earlier. (That the reason ichigo couldn't cut kenpachi was because he hadn't focused his reiatsu enough to be sharp enough to cut kenpachi.) Byakuya on the otherhand has had the training to do this and to master that ability. Multiply that by the number of blades Senbonzakura Kageyoshi makes... And you end with a finely diced Kenpachi.
Now if Kenpachi had mastered a shikai... Then things might go the other direction. (Depending of course upon what his shikai was and what it could do.)

I already explained this in the Bleach Discussion thread...

I hadn't checked the Bleach discussion board. But regardless, to counter your claims... Urahara kisuke's handle is different than most when in it's normal form... so why couldn't Kenpachi's be different as well?
As for the destroyed blade... might that be an effect of not knowing the name of your zanpakuto? a slowed rate of healing? or it quite possibly could be like Urahara's, it's just different that way. (Urahara's is inside a cane, a smaller blade with a cane handle for a hilt... so why couldn't Kenpachi's have a different handle/blade... )
And inorder to get shikai don't you need to know the name of your zanpakuto? And Kenpachi doesn't... so therefore his zanpakuto must not be in it's shikai form.

Urahara's sword looks different because he modified it. He was head of the Research Division, after all. And unless I'm mistaken, we haven't seen any realeases of Urahara's sword so his could very well be in a constant state of shikai like Ichigo's is.
Kenpachi's power transcends the limits of an unreleased sword, it simply can't hold it in without being in at least shikai mode. However, it IS physically impossible to use bankai without knowing your zanpakuto thoroughly.
And honestly, I don't think Kenpachi fights very often. Not against someone who could keep his blade damaged like that, even with a slowed rate of healing.

Hmm, In the anime he uses his sword, but you don't get a real close look at it. (That I remember.) And it is true he worked in the science dept, so he possibly could have modified it's appearance...
But looking at Wikipedia reveals this:
Ok, so it appears you were right, my mistake. Looks like I had confused shikai and bankai requirements. Still I maintain my argument that Byakuya would win. Even with Kenpachi released, he has to get close first.
