This is probably the worst execution of a concept like Megaman vs Street Fighter. Not to mention I heard that this was originally a fan game Capcom stole to make them look like they're still interested in Megaman and trick the fans into thinking they don't suck. This does not please me. This insults me. >

well... I'd be a little happier if they used their Street Fighter Engine instead, and if it was just like their other recent games "3D"

Ah, you see I didn't know that it was a fan game originally, so now I'm kinda meh about it. I'll still play it when it's out but I won't expect them to do anything else like this.

Here's my take on it. It looks good, I'll be excited to play it - but its lazy. They put no work into it, just agreed to publish what a fan made. I'll say that any attention is better than letting the series die, but this isn't good enough. Especially when you look at how Capcom celebrated Street Fighter's anniversary. If this is the beginning, and Capcom is just using it to kick off a year of Megaman then its great, but if this is the surprise they've been withholding, if this is all we're getting... well its pathetic.
I cannot understand why Capcom is so wrapped up in Street Fighter and Resident Evil. The last couple Street Fighters have been underwhelming, imo, and the last two Resident Evils were terrible. Now I can understand holding onto those licenses because of their powerful history - but its like those are the only games that Capcom makes nowadays. And then they'll remake those games and try to make more money, they aren't the only cash cows Capcom has. Honestly, I wish Street Fighter wasn't even in this Megaman game, but I suppose that's the only reason Capcom agreed to let it see the light of day. I'm just... really???

They put no work into it, just agreed to publish what a fan made. Truth be told this puts me in fear for MMX: Corruption. But hey, at least we're getting that sweet SOUND HOLIC album soon. With a few english tracks at that!

Reading all this, the only thing I can say is... Damn it, Capcom.
That's slowly starting to become a catch-phrase...

I'd have much rather this been a fighting game featuring various characters from around the MegaMan Universe fighting Street Fighter dudes.
And man what is even with this new fad of making MegaMan like it was made 20 years ago? I can excuse this cause it's not Capcom's fault per se, they just lifted this from something a fan made, but it was cute with MM9, was a little weird with MM10, and now it's just old. Maybe it's cause I honestly didn't care much for the original MegaMan series (I didn't REALLY get into MegaMan til X1) but still...

I really believe that is what the fans want, and its the only thing that'll redeem Capcom in their eyes. We want to believe Capcom cares as much about the series as they do Street Fighter, and when we see them but out 2-3 new games (followed by their Ultimate editions) with high definition graphics we get a little bit jealous when all they give us is 8 bit sprites, if we get anything at all.
Give us 32 bit at least, I know a lot of people who would love to see X9 in 32 bit rather than making advanced 3D backgrounds. I'd be excited either way, or if we got a Street Fighter x Megaman that were a fighting game with proper graphics like Nightmare said. Anything that showed us they were putting more than minimal effort into the series.

UPDATE Yes friends, it gets better. Instead of smiling broadly and announcing that you're glad for the fans who have supported you all of these years, the geniuses behind the Capcom PR have decided to slap us in the face again with an ominous warning. "We'll be using [Street Fighter x Megaman] to "gauge interest," in the series and determine where, if at all, they'll take the series next. They go on to say that they fully expect the game to reach one million downloads, because its free guys, if you guys aren't going to get excited about a free game then I guess there's no one out there who likes Megaman... At the time of this posting the official Street Fighter x Megaman reveal trailer only has 527, 664 hits. So the game is probably not going to get Sven's minimum 1 million downloads. In the remainder of the interview segment, they go on to pat themselves on the back and remark about how awesome they were for making a game that they didn't put work into free. "....We would hope this is, on our end could sort of make good [to fans]," Brett explained. "Making it free, making it available to as many people as possible, helps us get back on the right track with the brand." I really can't believe Capcom is this dumb. I honestly have to believe they're setting up for another game to fail, so that they can place all of the blame on the fans again. This isn't going to make things right, not by a long shot. But at very least, maybe we can get more downloads for this game than Xover got. www.rockman-corner.com/2012/12/capcom-will-watch-street-fighter-x-mega.html

What I just don't understand is why would they want to Purposely sabotage a well known, respected, and admired title? That is no money to gain in that. Even if they were doing nothing with it you would think it would be better than just pissing off the fans, which they have to know they're doing. Love their reply to this guy

I don't think they're doing it on purpose, Vile. From what I can tell, I think they're trying to do what they think is good... it's just that they don't realize that it's a horrible idea. So, if anything... it being destroyed simply by ignorance.

Alright, time for my analysis. I'll start out by saying that I wish the game had been made for NES or Gameboy because I keep mixing up my keys and my left hand is cramping up something terrible.
That said, its a good game. Feels a little bit easy for a Megaman game, there are health pickups everywhere. I think they're trying to appeal to a wider audience by not scaring off everyone with the relentless difficulty Megaman games are known for.
The bosses themselves are fun, if a bit frustrating. I haven't discovered anybody's weakness yet, and I've only fought 5 of them. So far I've beaten Chun-Li, C. Vyper, Rose and Rolento. I've used two energy tanks and almost beaten Ryu (1 bar of health left) but no cigar. Ryu is a bitch because he's invincible a lot of the time, and when he's not he's throwing fireballs at you which can cancel out your shots, I'm really having a hard time with him. Conversely, I found Chun-Li to be very easy, C. Vyper was fairly easy. Rolento and Rose were more difficult but I was able to pull it off. I think I enjoyed Rolento the most so far, he's got some interesting move patterns and when I fully figure him out it'll be a really cool fight.
Regarding energy tanks, I found 3 so far in the Ryu, C. Viper and Chun-Li stages. You can't replay the stages once beaten, and the energy tanks don't respawn so be careful and only use them when necessary. I finally got frustrated and blew 2 tanks on Ryu and the asshole still wouldn't die, now I'm kind of screwed. Of note is that the game has neither a save, nor a password feature, so you have to beat it in one go.
All in all its a solid entry. The game does a good job of explaining how the enemies work, how the hazards work and to channel Egoraptor "not putting you in a situation you aren't prepared to deal with." Every trick or trap I've seen thus far gives you an example of how it operates so in the next room when you have to go through it you have a good idea of what to do.
This leads into the bosses as well. C. Viper in particular uses a lot of attacks similar to the enemies and hazards in her stage, and they can be avoided in much the same way.
Bottom line, give it a go, I've had fun with it thus far.

I just beat the game. The hardest boss is Vega because of his homing jump attack that you have to be on the other side of the screen to dodge.
As for weaknesses, Ryu beats Chun li Chun li beats C. Viper C. Viper beats Dhalsim Dhalsim beats Blanka Blanka beats Ryu Rolento beats Urien Urien beats Rose? Rose beats Rolento
Really I couldn't find who Rose was weak to, and using Blanka's power against Ryu just didn't work for me.
It was a fairly solid game, levels seemed a little short as I found myself just sliding through most of them and just avoiding enemies instead of killing them. But it was still fairly fun.

and version 2 has been released.
Game's been tinkered with, works better, passwords are now in, and Sagat is added as a secret boss (perfect the bison stage bosses to fight him).
anyone tried v2?
