We still have a couple of days to go, but I figured I would throw this up anyway just to get ahead a little. In the original Final Fantasy, you pick your party of four from the very beginning, and they stick with you through the entire game. I know which party I usually like, but I'm playing this for you guys, so I want your input. So, who should I put in my party?
Here's a brief description of each class. For a full breakdown, if you're that curious, check out this wiki page.
Fighter/Warrior
You know. "I like swords!" That guy. Your typical knight type. Decent attack, decent defense, not much on magic.
Thief
Ironically, in FF1 they don't have a "steal" command. But they have high Speed and Luck, which means they usually hit first, hit often, and can almost keep up with Fighters in damage. Not alot of HP though.
Black Belt/Monk
When you wanna hurt things without swords. They don't need weapons or armor which can save you money, and at high levels they do more damage than Fighters. But their physical and magical defenses are lacking.
Red Mage
The jack of all trades. Uses white and black magic, except for the highest level stuff, and uses just about any weapon you want, but is outclassed in every category by another character.
White Mage
The healer. Duh. Makes sure all the other chumps don't die. That's pretty much all they need to do. That's also pretty much all they can do, unless you're a zombie. Their few offensive spells only affect undead.
Black Mage
When you wanna hurt things without swords or fists. Against the right foe they can dish out more damage than a Fighter or Monk, but they are physically the weakest character, including attack, defense, and hit points.
My party requires four characters, and yes you can have more than one of each character. I could go into battle with four Black Mages (which I would rather not do, don't do that to me) or two Fighters and two White Mages. Ideally, I want a balanced team, but I'm trusting you guys on this. So if you want me to double up, triple up, or go all in with four of the same character, vote for that option then tell me which characters I should use in the thread below. Otherwise, pick your four best options in the poll, and I'll make my final decision on Monday, when we start playing Final Fantasy together. Thanks for your opinion, and I'll see you on Monday!
