Zero Virus 14th Anniversary Birthday Bash

Hello everyone! For those of you who participated in our get together on Sunday, thank you. It helped us a lot in deciding on the festivities.

As you all know, tomorrow (Wednesday the 21st) Zero Virus will be turning 14 years old! That's insane for a little community like ours, especially since we still have a few stragglers from the beginning. Every year we do some sort of celebration for ZV's birthday (it used to be the Carnivals, as of late we've been doing mostly streams and game tourneys.) This year however we're going to do something a little different. The plan is to do something small for ZV's actual birthday on Wednesday, and then have the actual party on Friday where we do something much bigger.

That being said, here's the agenda for the birthday festivities:


Wednesday, June 21st
This is ZV's actual birthday! We'll be keeping things simple with just a nice little game night. Nothing fancy and no specific times planned, but please if you have time, swing by either the ZV Chat or the ZV Discord Server and wish ZV a happy birthday. Then you can stick around and play some games with us. There's not really any structure, we just wanna get together and hang out. Maybe play some stuff together, maybe stream, maybe just chat. The chat usually starts to fill up around 7 or 8 pm EST but you may find us congregating even earlier so come by whenever you have time!


Friday, June 23rd
We have a twofer as far as events go on Friday! This is where the real fun begins, so take the opportunity to clear your schedules for this one.

• 3:00 PM EST: ZV Story-Time - Scheduled much earlier than the rest have been lately, we'll be doing another ZV story-time this Friday! Who's speaking and about what isn't set in stone, so if you have any fun stories to share regarding some of your creative works, please think about them and come prepared to share! Unlike usual story-times though, we'll be limiting the time contributors have to speak based on how many people arrive and wish to share, since we have a schedule to keep. Sorry for the inconvenience! Take some time to think about your story so that you can share it quickly and concisely, and maybe have a couple different topic ideas so that you can have a shorter one to fall back in if there are a lot of speakers. If you'd like to know more about the ZV Story-Time format, please read here and here to get ideas.
• 7:00 PM EST: ZV Cards Against Humanity - I'm gonna say we'll start this around 7 pm EST but it'll most likely fall anywhere between 7 and 8 o'clock, depending on when the last story-time segment wraps up. For this nice little event, we'll be using the site Pretend You're Xyzzy to play. Yours truly has been working like crazy the last couple days to come up with a custom, ZV-themed CAH deck. Currently that deck has 140 black cards and 480 white cards (and counting!), 99% of which are original and ZV-themed, so it should make for a fun and uniquely ZV experience. If you'd like to play, you should come into the ZV Chat around 7:00 PM EST. Once we're ready to start, we'll move to the ZV Discord Server so we can all chat while we play, then get us set up in Pretend You're Xyzzy. Anyone who wants to play is more than welcome to play, we'll most likely rotate players every now and then if we have more than 10 people looking to play. But even if you don't want to play, Pretend You're Xyzzy has a spectator mode, so you can still get in on the fun even if you just like to watch!

We're hoping this lineup of events will excite everyone and get them in that good ol' ZV spirit. I'm looking forward to seeing you guys Wednesday and Friday for these festivities.

I like the idea of a ZV themed CAH game, I'll try to make that for sure. Did anyone float any game ideas for Wednesday? I feel like Tabletop Simulator would be ideal if other people picked that up, could play through several board games that way. Otherwise I think Smash is the only game that enough of us own.

Table Top Simulator was floated along, but only a few of us have that. Smash Bros came up as well. There was also some demand for Xero streaming Wrestlemania and me streaming Dynasty Warriors (since we both have a crap ton of ZV characters in those games and stream them on occasion just for the hilarity of watching ZV people beat the crap out of each other.) Nothing really solid though. It's likely we'll have to break up into smaller groups and juggle people around a bit cause like you said it can be hard to find a game everybody owns. It's unlikely we'll commit to any one thing for Wednesday and will probably rotate through a few different things.

Thank you everyone who participated in game night! We had a lot of fun playing games together, watching the many streams we were putting on, and even just hanging out for those of you who didn't really jump in on the games. If anyone's around tonight, maybe we can play a bit more together? Just a thought.

Don't forget the main events start tomorrow, though! The ZV Story-Times are always fun, and I'm super excited for ZV Cards Against Humanity (and so should you be!) Get hyped, fellas!

I'd like to personally thank all of you who participated in the festivities over the last couple of days. It was great getting to spend time with you guys, play games together, tell stories, hang out, and get festive in that ZV spirit.

14 years is a huge milestone in an online community and all of you guys are what makes Zero Virus continue to be the great community it is. Let's start looking ahead to next year, where we hit 15 years. We discussed doing something big to celebrate that, so look forward to discussions concerning that over the next few months.
