Next year Windows 98 will no longer be supported by Microsoft.
And trust me, Windows Vista is the best Operating System i've seen from Microsoft.
A Windows Vista Capable PC includes at least:
* A modern processor (at least 800MHz1). * 512 MB of system memory. * A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable.
Windows Vista Premium Ready PCs To get an even better Windows Vista experience, including the Windows Aero user experience, ask for a Capable PC that is designated Premium Ready, or choose a PC that meets or exceeds the Premium Ready requirements described below. Features available in specific premium editions of Windows Vista, such as the ability to watch and record live TV, may require additional hardware.
A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC includes at least:
* 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor1. * 1 GB of system memory. * A graphics processor that runs Windows Aero2. * 128 MB of graphics memory. * 40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space. * DVD-ROM Drive3. * Audio output capability. * Internet access capability. -------------------------------------------- Features include: 64-bit support Aero Taskbar Automatic Backup Automatic hard disk defrag Backup and Recovery Center BitLocker Drive Encryption ClearType Encrypting File System (EFS) Games Explorer and new Windows games Image-based backup and recovery Internet Explorer 7.0 Anti-Phishing Internet Explorer 7.0 core features - tabs, Quick Tabs, integrated search Internet Explorer 7.0 Fix My Settings Internet Explorer 7.0 Protected Mode Internet Explorer 7.0 RSS support Internet Information Server Live Taskbar Thumbnails Network Center Network Projection Networking capabilities - diagnostics & troubleshooting, VPN, peer networking New TCP/IP stack Power management Remote Desktop Service hardening Setup and installation improvements Subsystem for Unix-based Applications Sync Center and PC-to-PC sync System Search and file tagging Themed slide shows User Account Control Virtual PC Express Windows Anytime Upgrade Windows Calendar Windows Collaboration Windows Defender Windows DVD Maker Windows Easy Transfer Windows Explorer shell Windows Fax and Scan Windows Firewall Windows Flip and Windows Flip 3D Windows HotStart Windows Mail Windows Mail Anti-Phishing Windows Media Center Windows Media Center CableCard support Windows Media Center HD support Windows Media Center Xbox 360 support Windows Media Player 11 Windows Mobility Center Windows Movie Maker Windows Movie Maker HD Windows Photo Gallery Windows ReadyBoost Windows Rights Management Services (Windows RMS) client Windows Security Center Windows ShadowCopy Windows Sidebar and Gadgets Windows SideShow Windows SuperFetch Windows Tablet PC functionality Windows Tablet PC touch screen support Windows Ultimate Extras Windows Update Windows Vista Aero user interface Windows Vista Basic user interface Windows Vista Classic user interface Windows Vista Fonts Windows Vista Screensavers Windows Vista Sound Scheme Windows Vista Standard user interface Windows Welcome Center WinFX Wireless networking capabilities XPS document support ---------------------------------- Legacy programs will no longer be installed on your hard drive due to security issues, instead they will be installed and run on a virtual console (simulated PC).
Vista is flat out the most secure OS to ever be created.
[side note] as soon as i fix my DVD+RW drive i'm installing my free copy of Vista, i love TS2 events w00t!

Most secure? Tell that to Microsoft's security record.
It just works like this: Microsoft builds a better mouse trap... We'll just build a better mouse. Simple as that.

Guess what? Soon enough we'll have a mouse with electric shielding that can vaporize weapons of all kinds.

To all of my friends at zero virus forms: I'm typing this to you, will not actually typing, I'm simply talking. Yes that's right talking, I've finally lost it, I'm talking to my computer! This is one of the several new features included with Windows Vista. Took me 15 minutes to set up after I plugged in my microphone. After that I told my computer to open Internet Explorer and told it the URL I wanted to go to and POOF! It's that simple! no clicking, no typing, no carpal tunnel XD I can even tell my computer to press single keys!! For example I can say: "press shift a" and on the screen a capital A. Or I can just tell it to open another program for switch between applications. For example: if I say "open paint" then MS paint will open. The voice recognition system also has a built in spellchecker; all you have to do is tell it to select the word you misspelled and say "correct that" and a menu will pop up, with a few numbered choices of words to replace it with. Simply say the number and then OK and it will be spell checked. Oh, and fusion, I've tested several Pre-Vista games and every one of them works. So now we have that cleared up; I'd just like to say Wii!!! [side note] Microsoft finally got one right. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some gaming to do. [edit]

Sorry, it's not available for public use, as of yet. It's set to be released First Quarter 2007. et another feature I discovered last night was the ability to use USB Storage devices as a RAM extention! Yes that's right, you can now increase your system performance greatly, without ever opening the case. I increased my 738MB to 1.6GB just by plugging in my jump drive and choosing the option "Use this device to speed up your computer". When I saw that I was like ! Vista is the next generation of OS. EMBRACE IT!
