Square-Enix announced yesterday that they would be bringing a spin off from the Final Fantasy series to the DS in the form of Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book (Chocobo to Mahou no Ehon in Japanese).
Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book will feature, obviously, Chocobos. More specifically the game focuses on a Chocobo that lives on a ranch and is taken care of by a character named Shiroma. Shiroma is your guide for the rest of your adventure.
The game starts when a black mage, Kuroma, arrives at the ranch with a magical picture book. Shiroma and his Chocobo head into the picture book to save their friends and stop the villain. The game will reportedly feature cameos of many of the other Final Fantasy characters.
This game is expected to release this winter in Japan, with no word on a release date elsewhere.

Sounds cool, all they need is a time machine though.

I think I'll try that game out since I aint gotta buy a PSP to play it. I will avoid buying a PSP like the plague.

Square Enix just launched their website for the upcoming Nintendo DS title, Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book. While as of now it is just a teaser site, if you hold your mouse over the Chocobo feather, it says the full site will launch in September. You can also hear an incredibly catchy arrangement of the classic Chocobo theme song on the site. You can play around with the site a bit too: click anywhere and you'll make feathers fall from the top of the screen. (not dial up friendly) CLICK HERE!!!
