According to Next-Gen.biz, EA is saying they have shifted their handheld priorities since the Nintendo DS began pulling ahead of the PSP. Head of development at EA, David Gardner, is openly telling Sony, through UK trade paper MCV, that they need to step up their showing in the race. "I don't think Sony can afford to sit back. They still have things they can do with the price and performance of the machine, things that they need to address." "There's no doubt that EA has historically bet more on PSP," said Garner. "I think we were excited by the technology, but the consumers have proven that actually what they want is fun. "We must never forget that what we need to focus on is fun and so EA is putting more effort behind DS games, and creative ones that really take advantage of the hardware. Does this really mean EA will be putting more effort into their DS games, most of which have gotten lackluster reviews, and will they actually be slowing down support of Sony's handheld? Either way, the news is not a good sign for the PSP, which while selling well, is need of a boost in software sales. -------------------------------------------------- SCORE!!
