According to Nintendo's own financial reports, their revolutionary Dual-Screened handheld has just passed the Gamecube in total sales. This is most impressive, considering Gamecube has been out for almost 5 years, compared to the DS' 2.
The latest sales numbers read Nintendo DS at 21.27 million units sold, and Gamecube at just 21 million even.
With new colours, new games, and connectivity with Wii, the DS can only keep growing in popularity.

not really surprising to me. you can buy a cube for the price of a game.

You know, just saying "The DS surpassed the GC's sales" would not mean much if you did not know the amount of CameCubes sold in total.
But because it is so many, allow my eyeballs to nearly pop out of my skull.

The DS doesn't have the competition that the Cube does. PSP sucks, Nintendo has always dominated the handheld games even if their sales on their consoles have been declining since the N64. This news doesn't surprise me at all, I knew this was going to happen sooner or later.
