I see all the hype over SSBB, Super Paper Mario, and games like that. But I wonder: Where is Nintendo's other racing franchise? Where is F-Zero?
The DS has been out for a nice run now, and there have been absolutely no plans nor announcements for any kind of F-Zero game. None whatsoever, not even hinted at, while every other series has had a port or a remake of some sort, or perhaps an entirely new entry (Metroid Prime: Hunters, Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Mario Kart DS, Star Fox Command, etc.) but we're missing one out of all of those: F-Zero. Where is F-Zero DS? Surely the system can push the speed required for a F-Zero game. And what about the Wii? No F-Zero there, either?
What is Captain Falcon's fate? Is he to just be another character on the Super Smash Bros. Brawl screen, or will he not even be in Brawl, thus signifying the death of F-Zero?
To note, the most recent F-Zero game is F-Zero Climax, released for Game Boy Advance only in Japan. In America, F-Zero GP Legend is the last F-Zero released here.
So come on, Ninty. Tell us! Where is F-Zero...?

I actually never played any F-zero games, so I never expected any for the DS or the Wii for that matter. But if there reallly have been no news of any kind of F-zero games, is it possible the franchise may have died?

There's no way it died.
F-Zero has had...
1. 4 Demos on the BS Satellaview system 2. An actual cartridge on the SNES 3. An unreleased sequel (that also has sequels on the BS Satellaview system) 4. F-Zero X. 5. F-Zero X also recieved an expansion kit that added the ability to make new tracks and edit\create vehicles. 6. F-Zero AX, arcade F-Zero. 7. F-Zero GX, which had F-Zero AX characters and tracks. 8. A damn anime series that ran to the end in Japan 9. 2 Games BASED off of said anime
There's no way in hell the franchise is dead.
