Hey all, i'm Ne0, some of you may remember me, and some of you may not, but thats besides the point. I'm thinking about starting a website which will showcase any spriter's work, but before i go ahead and make a website and such, i wanted to run the idea by, in my opinion, the best spriting group out there, the zero virus forum. So here's what i got so far: - Spriters can come, register an account, and upload all the sprites they want, with no limit
- Off-site linking incase they wanna show their sprites off else where, (i.e. here on the forums somewhere)
- Have people comment on their sprites or leave advice to make the sprites look better
- No spriter is too good OR too bad to be on the site. All spriters of any level are welcome.
I personally think this is an awesome idea and helps support the experienced, unexperienced and future spriters in getting their work and name out there and known. Please feel free to leave your questions, comments and concerns here or PM them to me, preferably here so that other users dont ask the same question =P

Well, Ne0. You know you got my vote. Like we talked about on MSN, i'll even help you organize stuff and whatnot, I think it'll all work out good, don't worry about getting people, i'm sure people would join

Sounds good, but I don't think you should allow other spriters to comment on sprites, if you do that, the high-and-mighty good spriters will just flame and make fun of the worse ones instead of giving advice. It's a flame war waiting to happen. But I do like the idea of a spriters' gallery.

Well, I hate to burst your bubbles, but this won't work. Posting your work on a website is like ASKING for rippers. I've been ripped seven times. Not a cool thing.

Actually, i have that covered too. A disclaimer covers that because it is illegal to steal content from a website without consent from the author, so if we DO find rippers, we'll do everything we can to stop them.

Try to get some kind of coding that disables right clicking, newbies (the ones most likely to steal) won't know what to make of that.

I know a code for right clicks, so yeah... All we need to find is a 'print screen' code and we'd be set... Though, kelso is right... There are alot of noobs out there..

yea, whats your point? Posting your sprites on ZV isnt exactly the safest thing in the world either, but on the website we can disable the coding, and i'm sure i can find a way to disable the print screen button using javascript if i tried. I think we could really make this workif we tried. I'm making the site as we speak, trying to finish it up ASAP so i can present it to PMM and see if they'll host it, that way we'll get a heavy ammount of traffic to start with and see what happens.

Sorry, but you aren't going to b able to follow through on that unless a scratch sprite is stolen, because technically, all of our edits are owned by Capcom. ANd you can't disable Print screen, but you can disable a right click. I'm just telling you now. There will be a buttload of ripping. I had my sprites hosted on Zero Forever, the second largest MM site ever made. Like I said, I have been ripped 7 times.

Easiest thing to do would be to make it so that the site could host jpgs, which would distort the sprites.
Who would want to steal a distorted sprite? Then again, some people are desperate, they would and then claim they had accidentally saved it to jpg. Bah..
There is no real way to stop thieves than to just never post our stuff anywhere.. But that ruins the point of a spriting community..

AH NICE! you should use InvisionFree, or Proboards ....Proboads suck, and invision free i'm not even gonna mention.. Well, look at BnG, its a big community, and theres not that many thefts going on there. That I know of really, only here and there. But i'm sure it'll all work out.

Hmm I like this idea, go for it Ne0, by the way I suggest using php boards rather than proboards or invasionfree if you are to make a forum based site, if not use your php skills o make it so that we can upload our sprites to a gallery like those on Saint Zero.
Kelso, I know that ZF was the 2nd largest mm site ever but what was the largest? PMM? MMU? I'm just guessing here cuz I've been in the Megaman community for only a year so yea >_>.
