Are We Really Safer??

You know, I've been thinking, and I doubt this country is any safer now than what it was during 9/11. We still have the same security breaches, the same lack of communication in an emergency situation, and I think that when one of those terrorist bastards feel like attacking us, they'll be able to do so with ease. Im personally afraid that their next target will be some nuclear facility, and if they do manage to attack that, it will spell disaster for the U.S. Give me some opinions, guys. Even if you dont live here in the U.S., you're still entitled to your opinion.

I doubt they'd have any problems doing so... just need to Hijack a plane, load few C4's in it and crash into a nuclear facility... I mean what could they do, shoot them down? with what?

They couldn't shoot down planes with civilians on board. Doing so would be considered cruelty, unless of course it were the attackers shooting the plane down. If it were the military, and they were tracking a hi-jacked plane with civilians on it... No. Absolutely not. They'd be court marshalled faster than a F-14 Tomahawk can fly at top speed.

Exactly, Tails, and thats where our system get all f*cked up on priorities. Im not saying I would shoot the plane down, I'm just saying, think about it: What is more important, preventing a nuclear facility from blowing up, which would kill thousands, or shooting down a plane with 20 or 30 civilians inside? I dont think our legal system has ever been tested under extreme circumstances such as those.

*slaps sonic* listen to what you are saying, sure it would be better to shoot the plane down and kill only a few people then let them crash it and kill hundreds even thousands of people, but there is never any good reason to kill another human being

*slaps Tony back* Dude I said I wasnt taking any sides, I meant it as a hypothetical question. Theres no way I would ever shoot down a plane with fellow human beings inside, I just said it to spark some interest, and apparently it did. Another thing:(HYPOTHETICAL) If you didnt shoot down the plane, then it would crash, killing both the passengers inside AND everyone on the ground.

Self defense is a good enough reason for me as long as you aren't involving innocent lives.

But since we're on the topic of morality, I want to ask you all an interesting question: If your ass was on the line, but you could save yourself by shooting down the plane, would you do so, or would you rather die knowing that you commited a selfless act (not shooting it down).

thats hard... I'd probably shoot it down and pray for those in it... yeah.
but then again.. If I didn't I could die in peace knowing that I haven't harmed another being... ^^

I guess it all depends on how you look at life, I mean it probably wouldnt matter to all those guy thingys who think they'll become martyrs once they die...>.>.... but I mean if u still have ur whole life ahead of you, and ur young, (like all of us here) then you'd really have to think about it. I guess I would do it, but then my conscience would feel like sh*t for the rest of my life....
