(NOTE: Staff members? I'm not sure whether this is controversial or not, but i think that this matter is considerable to be placed here. If i have done anything wrong, forgive me and make any changes you guys have to, and tell me what have i done wrong. This topic suits this board, right?)
I have been into forums for months, of course including ZV, and i found out something. What we called them as 'n00bs' which also meant total amateur or immature newbies trying to gain attraction. These people are always ignored or despised by other members in respective forums. When they first appeared as the term 'newbies', they are treated well and kind, just like younger brothers or sisters. BUT, when they are termed 'n00bs' for their act and behaviour, everyone treated them just like spoilt brats or stupid youngsters.
Are n00bs really that pathetic and bad and immature?
These newbies just joined in a big community aka a forum. 'To be part of it and join in the fun' was just as other members had said when they introduced themselves respectively. But when they joined in, no one took notice of them. Hence, the newbies, whom are desperate to be acknowledged by everyone, took the first step to become very very active or start saying cool and special stuffs. Unfortunately, other members, including staff members knew this and gave a cause that 'these newbies are trying to gain our attention, just like a immature kid.' Hence, the forum's members created a barrier between themselves and the newbies. Treating them badly enough, the newbies didn't like the way members treat them, so they start going ransack or stupid or irrational. For ZV, ass-pirates were the effect for this. For other forums, there are 'banned-idiots' or 'lame-ass' terms too. You may doubt it, but that's the fact. (NOTE: I won't tell you which forums have these terms, because i wouldn't like to ruin their reputation, you guys should understand though.)
But, are these newbies really that immature? Some of them joined in a forum around the age of 17 and 20+. Yet they are treated badly like the others. What's the point? These members had set their mind that newbies are n00bs. Why so? Members never even give them a chance to make them happy or stay free in the forum, as a contrary, they just keep their distances from them and throw 'insulting-bombs' from afar towards them, making them 'commit suicide' in the end. Why can't members or staff members be tolerate enough to acknowledge them and stop despising them for nothing? It's high time for members and staff members to tolerate them and make them happy and welcomed to our respective forums instead of shooing them away from it. Most importantly, DO NOT JUDGE N00BS FROM THEIR RANKS AND AGES.
But of course, i've been a newbie before and i'm a member for now, i wouldn't exclude members' point of view. Members had been newbies before. They know the feeling of being separated from the warmth of a forum and the feeling of being called a n00b. As true members, they understand that continuing their respective acts would only bring them harm. So, they started to be more mature and rational. They, in the end, became part of a forum. But there's a question circling around this though. Are the members really that mature, or immature? For example, a 17-year-old guy became a member of X forum. His thoughts at that moment was rational and mature enough to prevent him from being entitled 'n00b'. But why is he called a n00b in the end? He just wants to make everyone acknowledge and accept him ,that's all. What he done made other elder members to dislike his act and treat him like a n00b. Then, as this guy's rank got higher, his behaviour is still the same, but other members stop treating him as a n00b. Why's that? Anyway, till now, this guy started to type controversial and mature stuff in the forum. Wasn't he mature in the first place? Why is such a person treated as a n00b? As members, we should know our stand and true thoughts instead of faking them out, even though others won't accept what you are, time will.
For the newbies, each forum has their own respectives rules and laws. They must obey the rules instead of breaking them. But these newbies tend to be too active until they broke the rules and hurt others' feelings. Being told not to do so, some newbies redeemed, but some did not. They continue being very 'special', which annoyed the other members. What they advised and said to the newbies did not make them change at all. Then, no one accepts them and everyone dislikes them, in the end making them angry and go berserk around the forum, resulting in being banned and never able to return again. Sometimes, even newbies themselves don't know whether what they say hurt others or offend them or not. So, newbies should take notice of what they act or do in the forum instead of sticking to their own attitudes and pissing off more members for no point at all.
Well, as a conclusion, we should all be considerate and tolerate enough towards each other and create a better future for our respective forums. Members should stop sticking the n00b term to newbies instantly without doubts and newbies should stop acting as they wish without reconsidering about the consequences.
My thoughts to share with you guys ends here. Anyone who do not get the point don't post, because this is quite a sensitive topic. And to other specific members, this is not considered as ranting.
p/s: Other forums have this problem of course. Does ZV got this problem? I swear that I'm not sure. You guys know by yourselves.
