Well, needless to say, i believe you guys know the meaning of global governance. Do you believe that such a thing, or more exact, phenomenon would exist?
And for some reasons, i would like to make a similar topic like the global warming one over there.
So...what say you?

In the nearer future, why not. Perhaps it'd be even better than the current functioning UN.
The ecumenist feeling around is virtual inerasable.
But everyone will have to change first.

Yeah, but the US government has kept on dealing social issues unilaterally, so wouldn't it be difficult to form one? I mean, they have been, knowingly or unknowingly, doing many stuffs that has neglected quite a number of international norms and institutions. And WITHOUT those, the sense of order and justice will not last long. So that still makes me wonder for some reasons.
And no offence to all my friends from US. As this is controversial, i would like some US ZV friends to tell me more about this. I'm currently working on an assignment project and i could get some ideas.

I think it would be nice if we were all under one Government, but things are too different everywhere else. It'd be really hard to form one. Not to mention whoever goes at the top of said Government might get a little power hungry..
Ruling the World and all, you know? <.<;

The bigger the scale, the higher the thirst for stronger power.
But that will be usually hard to pass in an international chamber of the senate, unless someone stirs something up that centralization of powers necessary instead of debate.
Something only Star Wars is capable of.

Personally, I wouldn't want us to all be united under one Government unless it were like America's Government.
Wouldn't have to be exactly the same, it'd be completely unfair if we said "My way or the highway!" but we'd need all the freedom and whatnot.
But if our Government become unified, then eventually our cultures and languages and everything will be as well. There won't be any diversity and that takes out alot of the fun...
Course one could always argue that we'd just have to unite out scientists and invent space travel, and find us some alien plantes for diversity. XP

I'd rather we all rule our respective nations rather than have one single government in charge of the world. We have the UN but that's for discussion, bringing issues to light and trying to prevent World War 3. They can't really order us around or tax us, and I'd like to keep it that way. We can all stay in our respective countries and we can still share technological and scientific achievements. A global government isn't necessary.

Yeah, I agree. It would be nice to have us all united as one though.
But I guess that's just wishful thinking.
If things were like how they are in Futurama though, and you got all kinds of planets with intellegent life, then it'd be different. Then the other planets would be Nations of their own, and it'd be better for us to be united.
But as it stands, I think we're fine.

A global government would never work. (Atleast not for a very long time... Probably well beyond my and everyone here's grand kids life times...) There are far too many differences we'd have to settle first... And by the time we settle those new ones would arise to take the previous conflict's place.
But now if we could settle all our differences and set up a global government it would probably never work for another reason... If any change were to be enacted then all countries would have to agree, but getting even a few to agree is tough already so how difficult would it be to first get each country on it's own to agree to a solution then present it to the UN like government and then go back to own countires with all the info and discuss in own country then have all members of UN reconvene and attempt to come to an agreement...
But even still barring that issue if one was set up I highly doubt it'd make any more difference on it's own unless it had some military backing to it... which brings a whole nother set of issues with it.

LMAO! This reminds me of communism. One government that controls the world? How could that ever work? For one there is way to many people, which means to many opinions. Which means some kind of Fascism. There would be so much corruption on top of all that. And really, what small country or a big one for that matter would simply turn over all its power and money that it's worked for to one central government? For one thing I'll tell you there would be allot of wars. I mean seriously, you think terrorism is bad now? Just wait till you try and touch the holy land.
There is no way it can happen with out violence, genocide, and one hell of allot of propaganda.

I wouldn't say that. I don't think it'll happen in the near future, but I do think that one of these days, we'll all be united not as a Nation, but as a Planet.
And you can't discredit it because of differing opinions... America is a perfect example. The guy standing next to you could think complete opposite of you on everything and still be a proud American.

I dunno. I really really doubt that will ever happen. And I personally think it'd be kinda boring if it did.

It would be sorta boring, but just because we're united doesn't mean there won't be conflict... There are Civil Wars all the time, you never know...
Plus, if space travel comes around and we got pissed off Aliens to deal with, Earth would probably look better if we were all united, wouldn't you say?

Because till now, many of them has bring about theories and facts that only global governance is the best way to stand up against terrorism. So, you guys are trying to say that next time, whenever terrorism arises to the surface world again, each country should stick up to themselves to repel from terrorism, despite being multilateral towards each other and working as one?

Whatever civil wars and wars now is a leftover from the colonialist past and of low mentality level thoughts. We should go higher. ... eh, I don't think aliens are suitable to speak of here.
