Ahaha, yeah. None of those AP assignments were done in pencil, they're all Charcoal or China markers.
I used Charcoal pencils. Personally, I don't think I could use compressed charcoal stubs, they'd drive me crazy. I hate having material on my hands, and charcoal gets all over the place.
Charcoal, Fan, is kind of like graphite except not really. It's softer and very hard to get light values. Usually compressed and what not, and it comes in different hardness's like pencils, 6B, 2H, HB, etc.

I don't really like charcoal pencils, except for real small details. I feel a lot more in control with just charcoal sticks. Though I hate compressed charcoal. Super dark, and very, very messy. Useful in small amounts though if you need the blackest of black though. XD
Anyhow, looking forward to seeing more art. XP

Actually, maybe the charcoal I had to usein Drawing was uber cheap or something, but it was kinda brown when compared to normal graphite, so you couldn't really use them both in one picure...

I see. I learnt something new today.
I'd rather stick with graphite pencil of 2B lead anyday.
And as always, I await the next set of updates.

Haha, I need to try out pure charcoal, but I'm pretty sure the whole getting it on my hands would drive me nuts.
Brown? Maybe it was colored or summins.
And oh god. 2B? xDDD I work with a 2H for sketching, 3H preferably.

Not really brown, but more a burnt black. You could tell the difference between the graphite and the charcoal, and it didn't look good.

Yeah, I usually work with 2B but a more refined thinness of graphite.

Ah, Charcoal has a much more richer, darker type of material to it, where with pencils, they're usually more shiny and greyish, so unless you really know what you're doing, I'd expect the two to look weird together. (I've personally never combined the two myself.)
Huh. How hard do you press? I like using a fine-pointed hard leaded pencil, and my pencil tip pretty much lightly caresses the top of the paper. That's why it's hard to see a lot of my sketches, because I draw so lightly.

The art was okay, but the image was surprising.
Maybe you should try drawing boys like boys and girls like girls ...?

That's true, unless you wanna make a Haku D:
The problem is that male eyes are usually further up away from the mouth, also try drawing them smaller (or same size), but up a little more, it should look more like a boy. Boys usually have smaller eyes too. Just experiment until you get a good satisfying result.
Also leg positions... Those GODDAMN leg positions
And boys usually don't have a blush
Sidenote: I actually had trouble drawing women once, but I overcame that, which means YOU CAN TOO D: Also, it looks CHIBI! Melikes!

I'm sure she would be perfectly capable of making a very masculine man, but that's not her style... She doesn't make them girly due to lack of skill.
That's how I see it anyway.
