Just some of my oddball writings. Yes, it has SSBM characters, but the story doesn't revolve around that.
Articulate Chronopolis
Behind the Eliwood Mansion, was a garden. A garden
without flower beds...simply a backyard arena. Childhood
friends Marth and Roy were there, swordfighting.
Roy ducked as Marth lunged at him, then as he passed
he turned and slid his blade across Marth's chest, leaving
a cut. He stepped back and spun his sword slowly, before
placing it on his shoulder. "Come on, I thought you were better."
Marth sighed in dissappointment. "I seem to be losing my skill."
He turned and walked off. Roy blinked, following after him.
"Aw, don't be like that. You trained with Keisuke, right?"
He sighed once again. "Yes, and unfortunately...I lost every time."
Roy frowned to himself. "You know...life isn't always about your
fighting skills, Marth...some day, our destiny will come, right?"
Marth blinked and turned to Roy with a concerned face. "What
are you talking about?" Roy blinked a little. "Don't you remember?
Keisuke said that one day our destinies will become one..and a mission will
come forth. And that it's our duty as lords to take on that mission."
Marth laughed. "Do you really believe all that nonsense about time?
I remember what he said, Roy. It was a bunch of useless information.
Time..is just a consumation of life. Another element, so to speak. There's
no way our life mission will have anything to do with that, I'm sure."
He slid his sword into it's sheathe, which rested at his belt. "In any case,
like I said, time is an element, it doesn't have much meaning."
Roy frowned once more. "That isn't true...you know...time has alot more
to do with us than you think. Like say..you trained with Keisuke almost a year."
"So that's like 365 days. Time, Marth. It's the very essence of life, if you wish
to have a simplified meaning." Marth shook his head. "Whatever, we're wasting
time arguing about this when I could be out with Reize on the frontlines!"
Roy sighed. "You should've done what you thought was right." Marth blinked.
"Just..nevermind.." he turned and left, leaving the gates open. Roy sighed and
sheathed his own blade, then walked outside, locking the gate behind him.
As Marth was walking down the street, a man stopped in front of him. He held
a bright green stone. He grinned and handed it to Marth, yipping happily. "Let thy
discouragement come only with thy grief!" he yelled. Marth blinked a little.
He held the jewel in his hand and grasped it, looking to the sky. When he looked
in front of him again, the man was gone. He shrugged and continued walking.
He passed the Holy Cemetery on his way. He laughed to himself.
The Holy Cemetery was also known as the "Garden of Gods". He blinked and
walked over to the gate in interest, sliding it open as he walked into the bright grounds.
He looked around, noticing alot of famous heroes from quite some time back.
As he looked to his left, he noticed the largest tombstone of them all. He went over to it,
reading the tablet slowly. "Koren Satlan, Fated to bring us the meaning of Time and Destiny."
Marth scoffed. "Why is everyone so determined on figuring out time!?"
He growled to himself, and in frustration, he threw the jewel at the tombstone as it collided
with the stone wall and shattered to pieces. Marth turned quickly, his cape floating behind him.
"I'm so sick of this..it's ridiculous..." he looked at some of the graves. "You people know not
what time is about! Why must you meddle with forces that are not to be of your concern!?"
He began to walk off, but the gate slid shut and locked itself. Marth blinked, kicking at it.
"What the..." he said, noticing as Koren's tombstone began to glow. He looked at it confused.
"Okay..this is getting weird." The tombstone exploded into a flash of bright purple light, and
the jewel faded, disappearing into the light. The purple glow shot at Marth and surrounded him.
