On another Sega related note, in 2010 a brand new Sonic game is coming out, "built from the ground up" as reported by Sega. Right now it's only being referred to as "Project Needlemouse." Seems like it might fully be in 2D. I seriously hope so. Here's a link:
Doesn't really show much, but the fact that they're using the good old "Segaaaaa" theme is step in the right direction.

Indeed. Not showing much.
Though the hint is there, they could instead make a 2D in 3D version though. Could be an Unleashed repeat.

I'd be happy with a fully side scrolling sonic, 2d or 2.5d doesn't matter to me so long as it has a similar feel to the originals. D:

@fann: You can never rule that out, I mean, you'd think by NOW they'd have listened to the fans, and look how long it's taken them. But if they read the reviews on Unleashed, then they'll know better than to make an Unleashed repeat.
@suprema: I actually WANT it to be in full 2D, be it with a rendered Sonic or just a straight up sprite, I don't care! 2D is what they've always done best. Sonic Rush proves that...

Good point.
Hmm ... the 2Ds are classic.
