New chapter, folks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm glad to be a fighter for my beliefs. I fight for what I believe is right, and most of the time, what I believe is the right thing to do in many others' views. I could take the political route... But I'm a fighter, not a politician.
It seemed a rather peaceful day today, almost too peaceful. Fusion was analyzing all of the events on the hunters' side. He'd known that the hunters had done some brash misguided actions in the past. He looked over the events carefully, sometimes writing down key points, as if he were building a report. As he looked through the list... All of the events up to a certain point seemed to be in order. On a June 8th, 21XX, many years ago, the entries made into the log seemed to indicate a great change, as if the hunters were going to war. "What's this?" Fusion scrolled down, "that's awkward. I've never known the hunters to do war ops before..." Fusion looked closer, then jumped back at the sight. It was listed as the day the city he was supposed to protect blew up... It was listed in the hunter ops! "They set up that operation all along!?" Fusion angered at the sight of the record, "I don't believe they'd stoop that low... But this is their official record." Fusion quickly contacted Mon, "Mon, got emergency news. Get down here ASAP."
Mon hurried down to Fusion's room, looking over Fusion's shoulder at the screen. "Look," Fusion said. "Look at the past records. That record of a city-destruction operation..." Mon saw it too, and was shocked greatly himself. The hunters would never do something like this! Or at least they shouldn't. Fusion sighed, "I can't believe they'd sacrifice innocent hunters for that op..." he then looked towards Mon, "either the Hunters may be going maverick or their commander is maverick..." Mon was bit shocked by Fusion's words, "you mean...?" Fusion nodded. "Yes. We go after the Hunters theirselves. Should we fall... It's been nice knowing you these years as a friend and a partner in combat." Fusion said. Mon nodded, "so where do we start first?" Fusion looked back at the screen. "Let's see if there are any upcoming destruction ops. If I can access the entire detail, we can sabotage one of their ops, since going in to the hunters for supporters would be suicide at this moment." Fusion looked through the list...

Just so you know, there'll be a kickass arc coming up. I'll soon end this story, and begin on "Tau Cain: A Fallen Hero". And no, Fusion doesn't die there. You'll just have to wait and see!
Oh, and this chapter clears up any confusion, and I made it extra long like the first one!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fusion sighed as he looked through the lists. All of those hunter operations... Were official!? They couldn't be. Mon watched on in disbelief as well as the list seemed to never end. "This could only mean one thing..." Mon looked to Fusion, "what, Fus?" Fusion had a grim expression on his face, "the Hunters have gone maverick. We don't have the firepower to take them on." Fusion sat in thought for a moment. "If we go this alone, we can't win. Odds are VERY much against us. We'd have to blow up the base like how they blew up the city." Mon looked back to the screen, checking security logs. "How about infiltration?" Mon said, Fusion looked up, "Infiltration? Why would I want to sneak around in a place infested with mavericks?" Mon looked to Fusion, "because you're a former hunter. You'll get in easily. You left on a good note, right?" Fusion nodded, "you should be able to get in without any problems!" Mon exclaimed. Fusion put a bit of thought, "you're right. But it feels against me to just betray my former home." Fusion did have a sense of dignity after all, "I'm not sure what to do, but I'll pay the hunters a visit regardless." Fusion got up and walked over to an open spot. Mon watched him. "You going already, Fus?" Mon asked, Fusion nodded. "Track me with the coms." Mon immediately turned on the tracker, and Fusion warped out.
Fusion arrived in the Hunter base, specifically in the med-bay. Wounded hunters occupied the beds, human technicians working on them. One was damaged to the point it was impossible to tell whether or not it was a guy or a girl. Fusion walked over to that one, the wounded reploid's only remaining eye looked to Fusion. "Relax," Fusion said, "just hang on strong, and you'll be alright. I'll make sure the techs get over here double-time." the damaged reploid smiled a bit, trying to speak, but the vocal processor was shot, so no sound was made. "Don't try to speak," Fusion said, "save your energy," and then Fusion himself began to hook up the damaged reploid to additional power units, hoping that it'll keep the wounded alive long enough. "Remember my words. I hope you make a shining recovery, because if you do, you're just as strong as I am." Fusion nodded, and then walked off.
...Meanwhile...
Douglas peered over from his station at Signas, "Sir! We've got a problem!" Signas responded, "What is it?" "Come over here! I've gotta show you this!" Signas walked over to Douglas. Douglas pointed to the screen, which showed various assaults on the hunter record. "Those weren't authorized, were they? If they were, I never heard about it." Signas said, "they're authorized, alright! Right down to a signature!" Douglas exclaimed, as a few other hunters gathered to look. "It's like someone wants others to believe we're mavericks..." Signas said, as Fusion stepped in. Fusion saw the gathering, and slowly walked over, "Looks like Douglas has still got it with the entertaining movies." Signas looked over his shoulder, then turned to stand at Fusion. "Ah, Fusion. It's good to see you. What are you on hunter grounds for?" "Security reasons. I and a few friends have reasons to believe that-" Signas interrupted Fusion, "We believe our database was hacked. Those operations were never run by me." Fusion nodded, "So the hunters aren't responsible?" Signas nodded, "it was a sad shame to see those hunters die that day." Fusion nodded, "agreed. But at least I made it out of there alive. I nearly died that day, too."
Meanwhile, in the med bay, the hunter that Fusion had spoken too, was repaired, and was clearly a female reploid. "It's amazing," a tech said, "she had fatal injuries, and she still lived. I don't know who or what did this, but whoever or whatever they are, they are truly heroes. I know she'll want to really meet them." The tech turned to his assistant, "shall she be brought back online?" the assistant nodded. The tech walked over to a panel next to the bed, typing in a command. The female reploid awoke within moments, first words from awakening were "where... is that legend?" unknowingly she was referring to Fusion.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A more caring side of Fusion is shown. Plus, AXL!

About time, eh?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That was a nice little rest. After some well-needed rest, I decided to pick up on the job again. I felt refreshed, and ready to take on anything. I was just waiting for my chance now to bring myself back up to 'hero' status.
Fusion was on a calm stroll above a cliffside, he stopped at one point, and looked into the distance, slightly leaning against a rock with his left hand, staring at the remains of the city that he had failed to save. Bad memories came back to haunt him. He closed his eyes, thinking, why did they all have to die? he opened his eyes again, is all this war going to be humanity's undoing?. He took his hand off the rock, standing, just staring in the distance at what remained of that city. Alpha City... Such a complete mess. All those innocents slaughtered... But by whose hand? It doesn't matter. They'll show in time... Fusion closed his eyes. In a couple of minutes, he heard footsteps approaching from behind... Fusion glanced behind him. "If you think you can change the past, you're wrong." The new reploid wore black armor like Fusion did, but had red gems and a silver trim, he wore no helmet and his hair was spiked upward with 2 bangs in the front. He had a sword mounted on his back... Fusion turned back to the city. "Hey..." The strange reploid walked closer, as if to try and get attention. "Don't brood on the past. You've got the future to look for." Fusion lightly said, "The future isn't looking too bright in my eyes." The reploid closed his eyes, then opened them again, "You've got quite the future ahead of you, I think. All it'd take is just the right mix of heroics and will."
The reploid silently reached for his sword, slowly and quietly unsheathing it. When he had it unsheathed, he quietly stood in a slashing stance. He said, "Hey, turn around. Gotta show you something." Fusion turned around, and the reploid's sword glowed, as it slashed and tore straight through Fusion's chest, though not enough to cut through him. Fusion stood, with a shocked expression on his face, still... Had he been gotten! The reploid sheathed his blade back up. "You'll thank me for this later, bretheren." He proceeded to push Fusion over, Fusion fell limp from the cliff, headed for nothing but ground below. "I hope you survive, though. Your the last hope for what you really are..." Fusion slammed against the ground, getting up a minute later, though weakly. He stood up, looking around, holding his wounded chest armor. He walked some ways before something caught his eye.
Fusion walked towards it, and saw that it was a glowing gem... A... type of diamond? A prototype refractor? Fusion thought. He reached out to touch it, feeling that it was beckoning him. He grabbed onto it lightly, and pulled on it. There was no resistance, so he held it. The gem began to glow brightly within a few minutes, and scrambled Fusion's vision badly. Fusion began to scream from pain, but in seconds it was all over. He looked at his hand, the gem was not there any more. He looked at his feet, his arms, his legs, and his chest which had somehow been fully repaired. What was...!? Fusion was a bit startled at this sudden change, Don't tell me I'm at even more of a risk of going maverick... Fusion began to worry.
Fusion opened up his comm, attempting to reach Mon. After about a few minutes of no transmission, Mon finally answered. "Yo, Fus." Fusion responded, "Mon. Need a teleport out of here." Mon raised an eyebrow, "What for? Did something happen?" Fusion was silent a moment, "I think you need to run another scan on me." Mon's eyes turned a slight bit sad at this thought, "Don't tell me that you..." Fusion sighed, "it's not that. I haven't gone maverick." Mon's sadness drifted away quickly upon hearing that. Fusion teleported back to the lab within moments without warning, a bit hasty to know if he was going to die or not. Within moments, Mon had Fusio n ready to scan.
"Wow... Fus, this is weird." Mon said, "Nothing but your power core has changed, and it's giving off readings the computer can't analyze. What you get yourself in to these days..." Fusion replied, "At least it isn't a maverick virus." Mon nodded, "It seems to have nullified whatever latent virus you had in your system." Fusion blinked, "I feel a bit lighter, as well as calmer."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry to cut the chapter so short but it'll have to do for an update. Explains how Fusion got the crystal, but the origins come later. And just who is this mysterious reploid that called Fusion his "bretheren"? We'll learn more in the next chapter of Tau Cain!

More often, eh? Here's a surprising twist.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing was more eventful than today... It'd been a while since I saw this person, but when I saw him now... I'll never look at things the same again. It was terrifying...
Fusion got up from the table he was on, looking at Mon, "Well?" he said. Mon looked over to Fusion, "nothing wrong with you." Fusion sighed with relief. "That's good. I don't want to go crazy." Fusion then looked at a viewscreen which showed an outside view. "Hm... It's a nice day out. I think I'll do the human thing and spend a little time outside." Mon nodded, "Sure, Fus. I'll call ya if something comes up." Fusion, in moments, teleported out from the lab to a empty field, which had green grass swaying in a light breeze, a couple of small clouds in the sky. Fusion began to let the peacefulness of the area sink in, when he heard a noise. Fusion stood up and looked around, his internal radar picking up a signal that matched that of a reploid named Majeh. "Oh, it's just Majeh. Looks like he's enjoying himself here, too." Majeh's reading came closer, though... "Majeh?..." Fusion said, before he was punched in the face by Majeh, Majeh's gem on his helmet glowing. The clouds seemed to build above them...
...Meanwhile, A lord and his henchman watched the now furious battle from, again, a secret base...
A tall figure stood, wearing a cape, "Looks like he has found a test for himself. I, against all odds, hope that he survives. If he should die... My purpose of being alive would be moot." A figure that looked very much like Mon looked up to the lord. "Don't worry, Gnat. He's tough, he can handle himself. That good-hearted side of me might try to help." The tall figure still stood, "he may need the help. Majeh is not an easy figure. I still wish for that one to survive... If only to have one last fight with him. I learned my lesson when I took his friends life... I only wish to see how he has changed." the Mon-like figure's face turned into an angry expression, "How could you!? You swore that we'd take over the world!" The tall figured looked down to the smaller one, "Do not insult my motives. Even though I am just to fight him... Should he die, you will have all the incentive you want to kill your good half, and then do as you see fit." the smaller one seemed to pout. "Hmph. You swore to me you would."
...Back at the battle scene...
Majeh grabbed Fusion, and slammed him multiple times hard against the ground. Then tossed him and watched him roll. Fusion got up. "No way! This is what he has become!?" Fusion held his chest, being damaged. Mon commed Fusion, as Majeh dashed towards Fusion. "Fus! Is everything alright!?" Fusion dodged Majeh's attacks as best as he could. "No, everything is not alright! I'm being ATTACKED!" Mon, within moments, teleported in to the scene, and distracted Majeh...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, I know, a cliffhanger. But guess what? This is the start of a mini-plot.

Majeh went crazy huh? Are you going to link this to his comic in some way? I know Nightmare and Xero's stories overlap at times.

A continuation at last! There's an end in sight...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I regret just leaving him in the dust with little notice, but it had to be done... I was through with maverick hunting, as well as being a hero. The world could support itself... I'm not X or Zero.
The battle had gotten worse, Fusion, Mon, and Majeh had all sustained moderate damage. "Damn... I don't like the looks of this!" Fusion said, standing up. Majeh's eyes glowed a bright green, he screamed as organic material formed over every part of his body... He then began to laugh distortedly and horrifically... Majeh immediately dashed at Fusion, "C-Come over HEeEeERE!" smashing a large fist into Fusion's chest "A-GAH!" Fusion yelled, as his chest armor shattered, his internal framework holding up to the power of Majeh's punch, Fusion slammed into a wall hard, falling onto the ground. Mon saw Fusion get hit... "You freakin'-" Mon took no time to use words, instead aiming his buster at Majeh, charging it up and firing rapidly. "Aaaaaah!" he screamed, the shots only minorly burned Majeh. Majeh walked up to Mon, Mon dashed back to avoid Fusion's fate. Fusion looked up weakly... "D-Damn..." he said also weakly... "Are we going to survive?" Mon began to charge a buster shot... I know it's dangerous, but I gotta! Mon thought...
Fusion stood up, letting his systems regain power. He noticed that his armor was badly damaged, first thing he saw was the chest armor damaged... Fusion looked closer... And he saw the strange gem with his own eyes in his chest. Meanwhile, Mon kept dodging, the shot being charged now overcharged... "FIRE!" Mon yelled, unleashing the overcharged blast at Majeh. The shot blasted a large amount of Majeh's organic material covering his body away. Fusion stood up, Need a stick of-ah ha! he dashed over to a metal bar grabbing it. Convenience is the mother of genius. He picked up the bar, and then dashed towards Majeh, "Out of the way, Mon!" Mon saw Fusion, jumping back. Fusion attacked Majeh, swinging the metal bar. The bar hit Majeh's exposed head hard, cracking the helmet and breaking through to the skull, breaking the skull. Fusion stood back, as well as Mon. "Mon, careful..."
Majeh did not move, blood coming out of the fractures in his head, visible. The organic material began to retreat, revealing Majeh's brutally damaged body once again... Majeh was fatally wounded... Fusion carefully walked over to Majeh, kneeling. "Majeh..." Fusion regretted what he had just done. Majeh looked weakly at Fusion, saying with a weak breath... "T-Thank you..." his words were cut off there. Fusion closed his eyes, staying still to honor the now deceased Majeh... "I hope you have a better time in the afterlife..." Fusion calmly said, after a minute standing up. He turned to Mon, walking past him. "I'll head back to base... there's something I need to investigate." "What is it?" Mon exclaimed, "Something personal." Fusion said, before continuing his walk off. Fusion teleported out moments later. Mon calmly walked over to Majeh's corpse... Looking over it carefully.
Mon looked closer... Somethin's not right... kneeling, giving a close inspection of Majeh. I can't put my finger on it, but something doesn't- A parasite-shaped form ofzMajeh's organic material leaped from Majeh, attaching itself to Mon. Mon screamed in horror and pain, as the parasitic organism slipped between the creases and cracks of Mon's armor, binding to Mon's Morph core... "AAAAAAAAAAAH!" Mon screamed loudly, before falling over when the 'transfer' was complete... Mon stood up, though roughly. "Ah ha ha ha HA HA HAA!" Mon laughed with a twisted voice, grabbing Majeh's corpse, and ripping an arm off, letting the blood get all over his arm. He then tossed Majeh's corpse into a nearby pile of junk, proceeding to dash into the sky...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, another cliffhanger.

does Majeh know he's dead? Nice update anyhow, its been far too long Fus. I'm gonna have to work on mine again.. but it sounds like you're wrapping this up. I wonder if you're going to kill Mon for a little drama, we'll wait and see I guess.

Yes, he knows. I've shared the upcoming plot details with him, and he's okay with it. Only because I'm not really allowing my fanfic to be tied to any other stories...

Let this die? NO!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sometimes I've wondered if my best friends were monsters of their own... Most times I've been right. I feel like such a danger to the world...
It was 2 days later, Mon had been on a killing rampage and everywhere Fusion tracked him down he had found nothing but more death, destruction, Fusion was slowly losing hope that he could get his friend back.
Meanwhile, in the hideout before, 'Mon' stood before a computer console, alone this time around. "I hate to admit it, but that good me is doing too much of a good job! I can't let him do my job!" He teleported out of the hideout, arriving on scene at Mon's next target: A suburban area. When 'Mon' had arrived, the devastation had already begun. "I've got to find this creep!" 'Mon' dashed into the area, I can't believe this... I'm HELPING these fools! 'Mon' thought. Soon, he encountered his rampaging counterpart. "There you are, you freak! Come and face your dark side!" 'Mon' dashed at the mutated Mon headfirst, busters ready. Mon slashed a claw at his counterpart, sending his counterpart flying into a nearby house, he got up from the damage, glowing a faint purple, his purple eyes glowing brightly. "I won't let you just toss me around like that...!" He yelled, dashing back at the infested Mon...
After a fierce battle, the infested Mon grabbed his counterpart, holding him, grinning madly. His counterpart looked fiercely down into his eyes. "I won't let you-GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" Mon began to crush his counterpart in his grip, and within moments, tore him intwo, smashing the pieces against the ground, roaring ferally as well as Mon's voice amongst that screaming loudly, before destroying the rest of the neighborhood. The counterpart's mangled body spoke softly for it's last words... "D-damn... You've gotten powerful... Why am I so... w-weak...?" it soon deactivated...
The mysterious tall figure soon walked into the room Mon's counterpart was in. "Seems he's went and got himself killed" he spoke... "It may cost me a great deal to figure out how to win... I know who to pair up with in order to win, though..." He threw off his cape, underneath was a completed body, ready for battle. "How I will get him to cooperate is another question." He leaned over slightly, sliding out mechanized bug wings, and antennae popped out of his head. Lightning crackled up and down his arms, as he stared into the screen. "Death is but a release from this world... Fusion's ally will have to..." He kept silent... He pushed a few buttons on the console, opening a comm channel...
Fusion recieved a comm from an unknown source, "What is it?" Fusion asked, "listen closely, and listen well. There is-" the voice spoke, Fusion interrupted "Who is this!?" the voice promptly responded, "...An enemy from the past who wants to mend the wounds he has commited." Fusion grew angry at this words, "Electrance!?" he clenched a fist, "Just what I need, another freakin-" he was interrupted, "If you would just listen to me for a second I would tell you that there is only one way to beat your friend and that is if we team up!" Fusion was silent for a few seconds after hearing this... Me? Team up with HIM? He's caused me enough trouble!... But can I really do this on my own? He's taken out entire towns...
After giving it serious thought, Fusion sighed, "Alright... I'll team up with you, Electrance... But after this I'm taking you down!" Electrance replied, "...There is no need to be so hateful..."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I apologize if this seems a bit lacking, I need to get back in the loop again.
