Should be named Mega Man X Online, that character looks definitely like X than Classic Megaman.

The image is rumored fake, and I don't believe it either. It's X's pre X8 style, which makes me not believe it so much. There's also the 2007 part that makes me ehhhhh
I'm just hoping its not an MMO

It looks like it certainly will be an MMO if anything. And the fact that it's his pre X8 look doesn't really mean anything. The MMO will likely have no standing in the actual story.
Plus, the copyright doesn't mean much, as games like this are commonly in production for years...
However, I personally think it's a hoax. Just because I don't see Capcom putting in the effort to keep an MMO going, and the fact that we're just now hearing about this, despite implications the game has been in development for at least three years. I think it'd be badass if it was real, but I wouldn't get my hopes up just yet.

I think capcom would be over their heads. I don't think they can compete with WoW or that new Starwars MMO, along with all the other big ones out there. It just seems like a dumb move.
But at least we get a badass picture of X, if noting else.

I have no doubts that a MegaMan MMO could hold it's own with other big MMOs out there. If Final Fantasy could do it, I don't see why MegaMan can't.

With regards to whether it's official or not, I would point out that in the past, the KoroKoro magazine would tend to reveal lots of screenshots and character infos of such games first, and then Capcom would only put up their official webpages of the same thing.
It can happen in this case as well, other sources putting this up and then Capcom confirms it.

I guess creating your own Reploid form is a highly probably feature for a usual MMO, and this one ... eh, we'll see how things go by.

Indeed it is official. The online RPG is set to go and hopefully we get to see more images of new characters and possible plot hints.

I don't see how you can. X was never awakened in the classic series other than what we saw in MHX. Zero was uncontrolable so Wily sealed him. And Sigma was never made until the X series. That covers the three character's we've seen making it non-cannon thus far. To top it off we know the pre-X story thanks to Dr.Cain's journal entries.

Then again, MHX is not an absolute thing.
It can be that they would cover some Classic games, the latest probably, until even overlap into X1. It can be.
And it can be done. It's their choice.

Then again, MHX is not an absolute thing. How do you figure? MHX was just the MegaMan X with more depth to it. It shows us more personalty, a bit more to the story, and it allowed us to see Sigma's rebellion. It cannot be done using what they already have shown. X was made during or after the events of RM10 as a robot with perfect immunity to viruses. Light sealed him away. Light dies. Light's lab is found by Cain, Cain activates X, Cain uses what he can gather from X to make reploids, errors occur in them, maverick hunters are formed, Sigma revolts. What is there to make a game of? It's a clear story that would fit as a cut scene or an episode over a game. |
