It's that time again... The sad, sad time every year where we have to send the Carnival off...
I had a lot of fun this year, I hope everyone else enjoyed it too. Though, it seems the events and contests were a little too elaborate this year, and may have intimidated people slightly, or took up too much of their time. Next year we'll keep it simple.
But now, it's time to announce the winners of the games and contests!
Let's start with games...
Shattered Reality
The Shattered Reality event, where members of ZV formed teams and battled each other... The Winners were the Dreadpie Federation! This includes Random, Tony, Suprema, Vile, Reaver, Majeh, Peytral, Swim, Renegade, and HZ. They've earned the Dreadpie Emblem Badge.
Dreadpie Emblem:
ZV Trivia
The winner of the ZV Trivia game this year is.... Sorrum! He got the most correct answers of anyone else this year (4/15.) He won the new ZV Badge that will be the standard for the Trivia from now on.
ZV Badge:
Scavenger Hunt
And the winner of the Scavenger Hunt this year is... Nobody. Nobody sent Suprema any Heart Piece locations. So... Yeah. Nobody gets the prize. Be more diligent next year.
Let's move onto the Tournaments!
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
The Super Smash Bros. Brawl Tournament was something else this year! In the first round, Ruinaru dropped out, allowing Swim to proceed to the next round without challenge. Renegade and Majeh battled, but Renegade ultimately came out the victor. HZ and Tony engaged in an epic duel, but HZ was just too strong and overcame Tony. Fusion and I duked it out in the next match, and though Fusion fought bravely, I won in the end. Sorrum didn't have an opponent for the first round, so he got to sit that one out.
Round 2 came around, and Swim and Renegade clashed, creating a battle of epic proportions. Swim eventually overcame Renegade, however. HZ and I battled, and we had some close matches, but in the end I won. Sorrum once again sat things out...
The Semi-Final match came around, and Swim and I were to duel. But, Swimfortunately sadly couldn't be here, so I advanced to the finals to battle Sorrum. Sorrum put up a good fight, but in the end I came out victorious.
So it looks like I won the Brawl Badge this year.
Brawl Badge:
Pokémon
The Pokémon Tournament was something new this year. Encompassing all the DS Pokémon games, we had quite the showdown! HZ and I were up first. He had a formidable team, but he just couldn't stand up to my Starmie, so I came out on top. Ruinaru and Cem duked it out next, and Ruinaru's skilled team made short work of poor Cem. Next up were Tony and Swim, but... Neither of them could get their DS working, so they were both disqualified. And then Suprema sat out the first round.
Second Round was just me and Ruinaru. Which didn't end well for me one bit... Stupid Tyranitar... That meant Suprema and Ruinaru were to duke it out. Unfortunately, they couldn't connect to each other... So since Ruinaru actually participated in fights this tourney, poor Ed got disqualified so Ruin could win the badge.
So the winner of the Pokémon Badge this year is Ruinaru!
Pokémon Badge:
Touhou: Hisoutensoku
And finally we had the Touhou Tournament. This was another new addition this year. The first round kicked off with Suprema and RockRichard battling, RockRichard winning that one. Next was the epic battle between Renegade and I. Talk about rushing to the end, right? Renegade won (probably cheated or something) that match. Next was Scarlet vs Reaver, which didn't end well for our new lady. Finally, Random and Majeh fought, and after a fierce battle, Majeh came out victorious.
The second round was also quite heated, as Richard and Renegade fought, but Renegade ended up winning that one too. Next was of course Reaver and Majeh, and in a brutal battle, Majeh won. Finally, Renegade and Majeh battled in the final round, and after a very very very close match, Renegade narrowly defeated Majeh.
So I guess the Touhou Badge goes to Renegade this year!
Touhou Badge:
That's it for the games and tournaments, let's get on with the contests this year! Which won't take long. The contests barely saw any action at all. Let's start off with the obvious ones...
Spriting
This year, the spriting contest awards the RGB Badge. And the winner of that badge is the only one who entered the contest this year... Me.
RGB Badge:
The scores are listed below...
Entry Number: 1 (Nightmare)
Colors: 5/20
Originality: 12/20
Accuracy: 18/20
Overall Look: 9/20
Total: 44/80
<Xero Bloodline> I thought this was a FLAWLESS recreation of one of the most iconic scenes in ZV History! Seriously, this barely qualifies as a "sprite scene," but you successfully beat out the competition so good job. =)
<DrFann> Not very impressive. Should have been more than just that. That's not even a sprite. It's just Paint Pencil. Lack of effort degraded you.
Writing
This year, the writing contest awards the Document Badge. And not unlike the spriting contest, the winner of that badge is the only one who entered the contest this year... HZ!
Document Badge:
The scores are listed below...
Entry Number: 1 (HZ)
Corectness: 15/20
Set Up: 17/20
Quality: 15/20
Overall: 14/20
Total: 71/80
<Xero Bloodline> Other than a few minor grammatical errors, I thoroughly enjoyed this review. The layout was easy to read, and I actually got a good idea of what the game was about, and I'm genuinely interested in this game now.
<DrFann> Apostrophes are incorrect in some places. The paragraphing is a bit inconsistent throughout the article. But mostly tolerable. Seems like it was written by a professional, those who can say something like this. But come to think of it, a real writer knows his apostrophes and paragraphings. Not as mind-drawing as I thought it would be.
Art
And this year, the art contest awards the Brush Badge. And the winner of that badge is a little trickier to determine, since a whopping two people entered that one! But the winner is...Albireo! Was quite close though, but he takes home the badge this year!
Brush Badge:
The scores are listed below...
Entry Number: 1 (Albireo)
Proportion: 16/20
Accuracy: 16/20
Shading: 16/20
Overall: 16/20
Total: 64/80
<Xero Bloodline> Al did a good job capturing the scene in manga style. I would have liked to have seen a colored picture better, but this manga is so well done I can forgive him. =)
<DrFann> Just decently done.
Entry Number: 2 (Renegade)
Proportion: 16/20
Accuracy: 16/20
Shading: 16/20
Overall Look: 15/20
Total: 63/80
<Xero Bloodline> Rene's picture holds true to the original scene, but incorporates Tony and Xero's modern looks. The ride armor is spot on, and the color and shading is fantastic.
<DrFann> Would have given Rene more if he made the green guy more impressive looking.
Well everyone. Looks like this is it. The end of the Carnival this year. We all had a lot of fun, but it's time to send it off for next year!
I'd like to thank everybody for participating (even if it probably woulda been nice if they did it a little more ) You're what makes the Carnival a success every year!
Happy 7 Years, ZV! Happy Carnival, everyone! See you all next year!
