It is doing a pretty darn good job. PSP and DS got out not too long ago, PS3 and Wii coming up, with promising titles... no, the end aint in sight!

I say it's doing okay, because the majority of "best-sellers" I see are just Madden games, Tony Hawk, and Need For Speed. Everything that promotes stereotypes.

In the last year there haven't been many quality games that came out on any of the 3 systems. Now the next generation consoles have some impressive launch titles but will they hold? It seems like the last year or so of every system, developers stop making good games. I dunno what I should vote.

I say good since Nintendo is doing things right, but Sony and Microsoft, (more so sony) need to get it in gear Just the opposite is happening, Sony and Microsoft are killing Nintendo at the moment, they've experimented and made horrible mistakes. Although when the next generation consoles come out I'm expecting a full reversal, Sony, the current leader will switch with the current loser, Nintendo and Microsoft will stay where they are.

The industry is definetly booming. And the 3d techonology is getting so much cooler. However, everything is becoming the same, the only games that are cool now are ultra realistic space shooting games. Not to say I don't like these, I just wish somebody would take the time to make a good 2d (*gasp*) platform adventure game for the game systems and not just the handhelds. People need to learn that 2d games are an artform as well. Plus, the kind of games that are popular now are a really bad influence on little kids. All the commercials now advertise games where you either cut stuff, smash stuff, or drive stuff through stuff. When is the last time somebody went on a shooting spree in school becuase Megaman told him to?
2D 4 EVER!!
p.s. why the f**k do I have to pay 200 hundred bucks for a godd*mn handheld!?!? Remember back in the day when you could get hooked up with a game system and a cool game for less than 100 bucks?

2D games generally aren't accepted any more and are as such "obsolete". SCEA is strict on their 2D games policy, and generally if a game is all 2D SCEA will just say "No" towards it. Nobody'll go on a shooting spree because Megaman never tells people to do that anyhow. Besides, people just think Megaman's a kids game anyhow. Even KIDS theirselves think that, and that's exactly what pisses me off. Nobody appreciates good games any more. It's the new-age formula: - Blood, preferably always in big splatters that cover up the room.
- Rappers speaking swear words
- Girls dressed like hookers
- Guns. Lots of guns.
- Death Metal, preferably the screaming goth kind.
- Football.
- Run down warzone locale.
If you make a game with all those elements, put a bloodied picture of 50 Cent dressed as a football player with a M-16A with prostitues next to him posing rather suggestively on a war-torn background, along with the typical dark blood-riddled font, you've got an instant seller.

I like the general direction things are going in.
And 2D games are nowhere near obsolete.
Hell, I know at least 200 people that still play them on a daily basis. And I for one, still prefer the classic games over many of the newer titles.

a fps was always big n same with a racing game. since thats all pc's really have they make more cuz you can branch out. but ya i suppose gore n the whole gta thing is now the norm. dats bs. all i see is f#cking rp's like ff. i look towards the gba for some good 2d games but everything is like a spin-off console remake or a god forsaken rpg. so its noy like square enix is trying new stuff. i mean put the word epic, fantasy, a strange name with a sorcerer and a knight with some sword and theres an rg that sells.
still one thing i like bout alotta newer games is customizing is finally a must.
