With the release of the much anticipated Pokemon Diamond and Pearl games coming next month, Nintendo has confirmed that they will be making their official headset peripheral available stateside too. While no exact date or price has been revealed, a Nintendo of America representative simply confirmed that it will be released roughly alongside the new Pokemon games, which will take advantage of the peripheral. Plus many Metroid Prime: Hunters players will finally get to utilize the in-lobby chat feature. No word yet on other Chat-Compat games, but I'm sure there will be quite a few. Pre-Release Ships 4/23/07 $14.99Reserv your's now!

A headset? Why would we use that for Diamond and Pearl?

Online type dealybobs. You'll be able to battle people on Wi-Fi, and this is more convinient than leaning over to talk into the mic.

This is very far off topic but I couldn't find a thread soley for discussing the DS. Money is tight for me right now but I want to get a DS. Does anyone know if there are any plans to drop the price soon? *looks at Ztrl and Fusion* I wouldn't think so being that the DS is still selling well but I thought I'd ask seeing as I've lasted this long without one. And its happened before where I've bought a game and the price drops the very next day..

Judging by the shade of the connector in the mage above, yes. One pin goes into each headphone slot.

Wow another trash talk gimic...
This is a perfect opertunity to obtain friend codes even though now all games must be able to use the headset. Metroid Hunters for example.
Thank goodness they decided to make this though. This was one of their flaws over the PSP. Now we need more online multiplayer games much like a Smash Bros. DS and another well put Star Fox game.
If we had this head set to begin with I'm sure much more people would have wanted a DS for it's online portable trash talk feature.
