Zero Virus 13th Birthday Bash

Hello fellow members of Zero Virus! How is everyone doing? Life treating you all alright? Can you believe in just one week Zero Virus Forums will have existed for 13 years!? Isn't that just absolutely mind blowing? I bet it especially is for those few of us who have been around since the beginning.

As per usual, we'd like to do a little something to celebrate! We've got four days of festivities planned next week, so clear your schedules!


Tuesday, June 21st

Next Tuesday is Zero Virus' official birthday! It'll mark our humble little site's 13th anniversary! We don't have anything specific planned for it though, considering it's right in the middle of the week, but let's try and make a point to get together in the chat Tuesday evening! We can do a Skype/Discord call, and maybe play games together and/or reminisce about ZV a little bit! 13 years, that's just crazy.


Friday, June 24th

Friday the 24th at 8:00 pm EST, Xero and I have a nice little thing planned! The last couple of years we've celebrated ZV's birthday with Xero Bloodline putting on a show for us with a Twitch Stream showing him marathoning MegaMan games. This year, we're going to do something a bit different! Rather than Xero just playing as many games as he can in a few short hours, Xero and I will both be streaming together speedruns of the original MegaMan X! We'll be having a little bit of a race to see who can beat the game fastest! Be sure to tune in Friday the 24th at 8:00 pm EST (that's 5 pm PST!)


Saturday, June 25th

Another thing we like to do to celebrate ZV's birthday every year is gaming tournaments! This year will be no exception! Saturday, June 25th we'll be holding two game tourneys: Super Smash Bros for Wii U, and BattleBob! You can find the signup threads here: Super Smash Bros., BattleBob. The Super Smash Bros tournament will begin at 2:00 pm EST, players will have to report to the ZV Chat room where the staff will be moderating (and participating in!) the tournament. The BattleBob Tournament will begin at 5:00 pm EST after the Smash Bros Tourney ends, likewise please report to the chat room to meet your opponents! Please note that we will be holding the Smash Bros tourney for the Wii U version only. We're sorry if this is upsetting to a couple of you but as far as we know there's only one or two people out of everyone who plays that is exclusive to the 3DS version, doing this exclusively with the Wii U version allows us to maximize participation and take some of the work off of the staff running the tourney. If you play the 3DS version though I encourage you to show up all the same and take advantage of everyone being hyped up on Smash, many of us have the 3DS version as well and will be happy to fight you between matches.

Sunday, June 26th

Starting at 4:00 pm EST on June 26th several of us will be playing Terraria online, if you would be interested in joining us please feel free. For those of you who can't join us in game you can still join in the fun! We'll be streaming our playthrough and we'll be on voice and chat as well.

[Nightmare]

Hey there everyone! Looks like the weekend is over, and so ends our celebration of ZV's birthday.

We had a lot of fun. Tuesday we got together in the chat and hung out, voice chatted on Discord, watched Ztrl stream Mighty No.9, and played a whole lot of Smash Bros together.

Friday we got together and everyone watched Xero and I stream MegaMan X, racing to see who could beat it fastest. Xero finished in 1 hour 11 minutes, I was an entire stage behind in the end, finishing in 1 hour 24 minutes. Our stream concluded pretty quick though, and to make up for it we streamed some Super Mario Bros! We played Super Mario Lost Levels on Mario All-Stars for the SNES, and that was a laugh riot as everyone watched Xero and I die over and over again as we struggled to make it only halfway through the game.

Saturday we got together for some gaming tournaments! Ed, Swim, Aerin, Scarlet, Xero, Fusion, Tony, Xzero, and I ended up participating in a Round-Robin style tourney for the Super Smash Bros. tournament. The final scores were: Nightmare (7), Fusion/Swim (6), Xero Bloodline/Xzero (5), Ed (3), Tony (2), and Aerin/Scarlet (1), meaning that the Smash tournament was won by none other than yours truly! BattleBob was a different story, however. The BattleBob tournament saw in the first round: Swim vs Tony, Aerin vs Xzero, Majeh vs Nightmare, and Ed vs Ztrl. We then moved onto the Semi-Finals, which saw Tony vs Aerin and Majeh vs Ztrl. And then the final bout was between Aerin and Majeh... We ended up crowning Majeh the champion of the BattleBob tournament this year! We handed out lots of BattleBob prizes during the tourney, and really participating in and watching the tournaments were both just a blast!

Then we concluded with some Terraria action today! Ed and Ztrl lead a campaign into a new world with Xero, Scarlet, and HZ, while Majeh, myself, and others watched the live stream on Ztrl's twitch channel and hung out in the chat!


Overall, it was a great series of celebrations. Feels almost reminicent of the Carnivals we used to do, having so many people get together and do so many fun things over a period of time. These 13 years of ZV have been a blast, here's to 13 more! Thank you everyone who participated in the fun this week, and thank everyone else that wished ZV a happy birthday!
