I'm bored, so I'm going to Ramble about the X Series, and you all can post your thoughts. >.>;
MegaMan X - MegaMan X was a good game, I personally perferred it over the Original MegaMan series, since the storyline seemed....I'unno, darker? It wasn't just "OMG the evil smart guy is up to something bad, lets send him to prison!", the X series takes place during a war with the Mavericks. Now, I didn't understand much of MegaMan X at first (partially because I was five years old, and I never read the dialogue) and I at first didn't differenciate well between the MegaMan Series and the X Series, and my view on the MegaMan series had takes severe damage from the old TV show as it is. For instance, the first time I saw Zero, I swore it was Blues (you know, Red, long yellow thing in the back, five years old, blah blah blah) and that he only beat up Vile because he wanted to kill me himself later. (XD) But after replaying the game when I got older, I learned to really appreciate the game. I did, however, find somethings that bothered me. The major one, being I had trouble figureing out the weaknesses to several of the bosses. Chill Penguin, Spark Mandrill, and Armor Armadillo were the only ones that I saw had a noticable reaction when using any Weapons on them, so the rest I either used what was most convinient, or just blew em away with the X-Buster. But one thing that pissed me off the most about MegaMan X, was that I couldn't beat Sigma. For years, I played all the way through the game, and could never beat his final form. I finally beat him for the first time yesterday, after remembering something interesting my little brother told me a little while ago (blowing Velgarder away with the Hadoken right off the bat really helps conserve Sub-Tanks. XD). It was an overall enjoyable game for me, and I finally got to see the ending. I'm sure I wouldn't have laughed so hard at the part where it said "Those who sacraficed themselves in this fight will bever be brought back..." had I beat the game a few years back...
MegaMan X2 - MegaMan X2 I found to be just as great as the first. The bosses were creative, the Weapons were cool, the Giga Crash I found was a very cool new feature, and I loved being able to dash from the beginning of the game. I found the story interesting (after replaying it years later and actually reading the dialogue XD) and the chance to put Zero back togeather sounded fun as hell. Unfortunatelly, at the time, I sucked....alot.... and got owned by every X Hunter to come my way, thus meaning that at best, I'd have one piece of Zero before he was stolen again (>.>. But I never could beat the second Sigma stage, for years. My dad would have to beat Serges and Agiles stages so I could fight Zero (XD). Of course, Zero tore me apart in a matter of seconds every time (>.>. About 3 years ago, I finally got past the second Sigma Stage by myself, I beat the third Sigma stage, and I finally got to Zero all by myself. Then he kicked my ass just like old times (>_>;. But I finally whipped Zero, and eventually Sigma, and beat X2. I replayed X2 the other day, and found that rebuilding Zero took away one of the Games funnest challenges. So I replayed it again, and fought Zero. It was rather unfufilling, since I kicked his ass easily. But oh well... I really enjoyed X2, and I couldn't wait for X3.
MegaMan X3 - You know, when I first saw the commercials for MegaMan X3, and and saw that you could play as Zero, I was totally all like "OMG YOU CAN PLAY AS ZERO!?!?!?!111oneone11!!??elevenquestionmark" and I told my dad about it, and he had a similar reaction. It was then we decided that we must have MegaMan X3. Unfortunatelly, it seems we weren't the only one to have that kind of reaction, because every single video store, toy store, electronics store, and video game store in town, was sold out....Every single time we checked....And just my luck, the Super Nintendo became obsolete shortly after, and my hopes of getting X3 and playing as Zero had been crushed... Two years ago, my brother says "Hey, MegaMan X3 on eBay for eight bucks!" and so we buy it. You know, I didn't so much as play it until yesterday (>.>. After realizeing I had never played the game, I went to play it all the way through. It was then that I realized why God had not wanted me to buy the game..... The game was bad... MegaMan X7 bad.... Zelda II Adventures of Link bad.... Locked in a room with Majeh who is armed with a chainsaw and having a dotted line saying "cut here" across your crotch bad..... The game was MegaMan Zero difficult at first, it was murder just finding a Maverick that'd go down with the X-Buster. But I said to myself "Well, at least I get to play as Zero, that'll make it better." If only I was right. Gameplay as Zero was a joke. You could only use him once per stage, he didn't have any boss weapons, he couldn't fight bosses or mini bosses, he could only go through one third of the stage, and if you died, at all, Zero was gone for good, for the whole game. I found all the characters in the game, unlikeable, I found all the stages lame, I found the story retarded, I found the game controls unresponsive, I found the stage enemies to be godmodders (I actually reffered to one of the wall crawlers as the "Nightshade Crab" when talking to my brother about how it took out a big chunk of life with one little blast...XD), and I found the bosses hard. I have to admit though, the upwards air dash was kinda cool. I beat the game easily, despite the utter Godmoddingness of Sigma (luckily he was easy to avoid). I did, however prepare to vommit with rage when the lava came from the floor and killed me after I beat Kaiser Sigma. Luckily though, I beat him again, and saw the games cheesey ending. I gotta say, I found myself enjoying the challenge of the game at some parts, but all in all, it sucked... >.>; I was disappointed.
MegaMan X4 - This was the first game we bought with our Sony Playstation. Me not playing X3 for another five years, was like "OMG I FINALLY PLAY AS ZERO!" and started a data as Zero. When I realized how difficult it was to play the game by getting in the bosses faces with that damn saber, due to a lack of a buster, I started another data as X, to give be a better feel of the game before playing as Zero. I found the game rather easy as X for the most part. I loved the hover boots, they were awesome, but I never really could find the helmet for the Fourth Armor, or beat Sigmas final form (yes, again. >.>. I played as Zero and managed to get through it this time. I found that Zero's gameplay was much more difficult than X's (thus why at the time, I was relieved that I didn't have to fight Colonel the first time). But surely enough, I couldn't beat Sigmas final form (>_>;. But in the end, I really enjoyed playing X4, the gameplay as Zero was amazeing and fun (all be it much more difficult than I had come to expect from the X series) and I really enjoyed the story, even though I couldn't see any of the animated cutscenes (we had one of the first copies of X4, and one of the first Playstations, so the scenes would be choppy, without audio, or freeze.) After watching all the cutscenes on Youtube, I found the story of X4 much more interesting. After a couple years of trying and failing, I finally found the Fourth Armor Headpiece as X, and beat Sigma as Zero. I still have yet to beat the game as X. <.<;
MegaMan X5 - At first, it hadn't occured to me to go out and get X5, until one Satuday morning, my dad and I got up and watched Electric Playground just as we did every weekend, and during the cheats part of the show, it showed the code for Black Zero, and I wrote it down and after the show, I said "Hey dad, can we go to Game Stop? " And later that day, I was playing as Black Zero, kicking ass through stages. I highly enjoyed it (I don't think I ever played that game as a Red Zero. XD). I found on the internet the Ultimate Armor Codes, and started another Data as Ultimate Armor X. I really liked X5, the introduction of Alia and Signas into the series really added a nice touch to the story (I can give a crap less about Douglas. XD). The plot of X5 was great, and the fact that there were so many different ending was awesome. X5 was definately my favorite game in the X series. It was all that more awesome, was when I discovered the way to get the Fourth Armor, Falcon Armor, Gaea Armor, Ultimate Armor, and Black Zero. Speaking of which, I really liked the Falcon and Gaea Armors. Especially the Falcon Armor, flying made it my favorite of all X's armors to date. Fighting Dynamo was alot of fun (all be it easy) and the 16 hour time limit didn't bother me at all. I really liked X5 as a whole.
MegaMan X6 - MegaMan X6 I didn't enjoy as much as most other MegaMan X games. The story seemed odd and hard to follow, and the boss names were rather odd (o.o;). The gameplay was good (especially since you can not only unlock Zero, but Black Zero. >=D). I didn't have any strong feelings for this game at all, the game seemed rushed none the less. The Blade and Shadow armors were pretty cool, I liked the Blade armors up air dash, and I liked the Shadow Armors Ninjaness (XD). Other than that though, I didn't care much for X6. =/
MegaMan X7 - I was excited to play MegaMan X7 when I first saw Axl. It looked like it would be alot of fun. Although I did enjoy playing as Axl, and I liked the ability to go into stages with two characters and switch between them, X7 sucked even more than X3 (that's pretty bad). The bosses were easy, had retarded names (Vanishing Gungaroo? Wtf?) and fighting Flame Hynard made me want to take a syonide pill. Not to mention the plot was lame, the voice acting was a joke, and you had to unlock X, because X was too busy being a hippie. Now, putting aside my passionate hate for hippies of any kind, any game where you have to unlokc the main character, obviously is retarded. Don't get me wrong, playing as Zero or Axl was just fine, but if I buy a game called "MegaMan X" I wanna play as MegaMan X. D=< All in all, X7 sucked ass. >.>;
MegaMan X8 - MegaMan X8 was another game I realized I had but never actually played. I played through and beat the game a few hours ago, and I have to say, I really liked it. The voice acting was great, the gameplay was awesome, the stages were well thought out, the ability to mix and match the pieces of X's two armors was a great idea, and of course, it had a black Zero code >=D (it also had The Ultimate Armor, and White Axl. o.o). Bringing Vile back I found was a good idea, it added a nice twist to the plot. The story made alot more sense to me than the last two MegaMan X games did, everything was logical and well explained. Once again, the game brought in the ability to pick two characters and switch between the two throughout the stages (the only good thing about X7), but in X8, you also get the "Double Attack" which I found rather unnecessary, but it was fun and destructive, much like the unnecessary, fun, and destructive "Final Strike" in MMX:CM. One of the best things about X8 though, was the fact that you can play as the navigators. They're no better than X, Zero, or Axl, but it's the first chance I've ever gotten to play as a female character in a MegaMan game. The ability to play as Alia, Layer, and Palette was more or less just a unexpected and fun feature that added to the greatness of X8. Although the bosses names were retarded (they've been getting worse since X5) they weren't as bad as the names in X7. Overall, I really liked X8, and hope that the next X series game will be just as good.
I really hope that there is an X9, cause Capcom has got some explaining to do to fill in the gap between MegaMan Zero and MegaMan X. For awhile though, I had been wondering why Axl had not been so much as mentioned throughout the MegaMan Zero series, but after seeing the ending of X8, it made it quite obvious.
~WARNING: SPOILERS! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!~
At the end of X8, when the Sigma infected Lumine struck Axl and broke his head gem, knocking him unconsious, I was heavily reminded of when Sigma as a Meverick Hunter, fought Zero, and got infected with the Zero Virus that ultimately turned him Maverick, after breaking Zero's head gem...The fact that at the very end of the ending scene, the camera zoomed in on Axl's broken gem, and a strange purple glint is seen on the inside of it, only further foreshadows this possible outcome.
Either way, through the past couple days, I've learned alot about the X Series, as well as relived alot of things I enjoyed about it in the past. Now, I need to go out any buy MegaMan X Collection, so next time I wanna play all them games, I don't have to dig em up and run from room to room in the house getting to the proper systems. >.>;
