Sorry if y'all don't support illegal stuff, but to tell you the truth, Capcom doesn't care . Anyways, I'm new here, and I figured I'd join 'cause I'm a programmer and I am making a clone of Megaman X for TI calculators, more specifically, the TI 89, TI 89 Titanium, TI 92+, and V200 (they all run the same processor, so same binaries). My home site is at www.tifreakware.net/skkand I am an admin at www.tifreakware.netso I have my own forum there too. Check it out for more info cause I will prolly be posting updates more often there. Right now I don't have a thread for it, but it's on my homepage . I'll post more when I get something substantial done. PS. I haven't updated my homepage in about 3 months... I should prolly do that later today, but SO much homework

The only way it'd be illegal is if you sold copies. Other than that, Capcom USA's License Agreement allows the use of their characters for non-profit purposes.

Really?!?! Sweet. Well I'll stop waking up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, wondering if the feds will show up at my door . I just assumed it was illegal because 99.99999999999% of all game licenses stricly prohibit that stuff, even old games like Doom and Earthworm Jim (doesn't stop anyone from making them anyhow).

Capcom's pretty smart this way because if you think about it... Basically they're getting free advertising for their games and even to the whole company... (Cause if you know Megaman then your atleast somewhat familiar with Capcom. If not... then it's reason to go search for capcom and find out a bit more.)

Yeah, God bless those Japanese . I should put that in my sig . I smile too much... Anyways, I need to know a good website for a bootleg copy of the Computer version of Megaman X. I have the SNES cartridge, but my SNES recently broke down . And I had the Gamecube Collection version too, but it was scratched up beyond repair by my lil' bro . So I figured the most that could happen with a bootleg computer version is a hard drive crash, eh? I could just buy a new Gamecube version, but I'm broke and impatient and lazy . [EDIT] The grammar Nazi in me fixed some typographical errors. Plus, I had something to add, but I forgot it. [EDIT2] Oh yeah! I need some linkies to websites with full sprite sheets of every sprite in the game, or a link to a program that allows me to rip the sprites myself, once I get the binaries for the computer version. Please don't say google.com, if at all possible.

Scratch that. I think I have everything I need (google). Except I can't find the sprite sheet for the armor. Not the one where X has full armor, but the layovers for when you only have one or more armor parts. I know they're there, but I can't find them on google. I was wondering if any of you might know where to find them or have them. [EDIT] I spent the whole day looking for them, and working on the title screen. So far, I have a few helper functions for the title screen, and am about to implement the font displayer; the calculator has three built in fonts that cannot be changed, so you have to write your own functions to display other fonts. Also, I decided to re-buy Mega Man X Collection. And to my dismay, it really is "Mega Man", not "Megaman" . Oh well.

I have decided on how much to scale the sprites by. %53 for important people, like Sigma, X, Zero, Vile, etc. And %50 for the common people. These proportions will give me 1/4 the original screen size, which I can work with. Also, the conversion to four shade grayscale looks pretty good. I'll work on it some more and post a screenie when I get the time.

Just wondering, but have you considered just using the SNES emulator for the calculators?

I wasn't aware that there was one. And even if there is, it will probably be slow because of the graphics conversion and the high amount of stuff going on onscreen. Going native with a remake is the way to go here.

heya!
I need some help. Does anyone know of a good SNES ROM image sprite ripper? I've googed 3 different ones and they don't work/can't figure out how to use them.
I'm missing about 4-6 armor sprites.
the ROM image is a .rar file for Mega Man X
