You make a good point. However, I gotta ask... Since when do lightbulbs contain deadly gas? Where was I when this happened? I can't say I'm an expert on light bulbs, but I never heard that one before... XD
As for the paper thing... I dunno, paper seems fine. It's bio-degradable (I think that's the word) I'm pretty sure, and it's not like we're running out of trees... Loggers that cut down trees always plant more than they cut down. Whether or not they wanna help the environment in doing so is debatable, but they don't wanna run out of business by cutting down all the trees. XD
And I'd have to ask my brother about it since he's more of an expert on this sort of thing than I am, but I think the whole green house gas emmissions thing is pretty badly exaggerated in it's amount and it's potential effect.
All that aside, I agree with you. Some stupid hippie holiday where you pretend to be helpful for a day is kinda lame. If they really wanna help the environment, there should be something that's useful, practical, and relatively easy for the average person to do (since we're all lazy.)

XD He means those long lasting lightbulbs, they usually look like they're curling a bit. www.techdigest.tv/low_energy_lightbulb.jpgThey contain high amounts of Mercury which is highly toxic to humans, I believe.
