It's kinda like photography, so yeah, I'd call it art.

I agree. It's another form of photography, quite radical, but really new and amazed me.
I guess it's nice too.

Pwahahaha~ Dump tyme~! First, a collab between me and TheGhostDragon on dA. Rhyll is a boy. :3 And something I drew of me and my girlfriend. Although I really dislike the faces and stuff. 8'D And something else I did really quickly with watercolors because I wanted to get the idea across, wasn't really paying attention to the anatomy much or anything. It's a boy btw. :'D Rhyll <3 Lol Critiquer's will be punted across the internet with Gurren Lagann's foot. <3

What medium did you use for those arts? Looks like paint, or oil, but I'm not sure ... just curious, not being a critic or anything. Because whatever that medium you used, the arts sure did turn out awesome.

Praise is a part of critique. (Because to offer praise I must review it, correct?) And since you have requested no critique... I shall not offer words one way or the other. I cannot even call if it is or is not art because that too is a form of criticism.

What she means is she doesn't want you telling her how to make it better or whatever. I highly doubt she'd mind if you say you like it.

That's not the point I'm making. The point I'm making is, positive and negative comments are both critique and she asked for no critique. So, now either 1- you guys are all in the wrong and she should be angry at all of you for not doing as she asked... or; 2- she admits all she is after is ego stroking, but she used poor word choice and is left to deal with a person like me. And well, I'm not a big fan of people who need the ego stroking. To me it displays a lack of confidence and pride from one's work. If you can't accept the bad with the good then maybe your not ready to be showing your work off just yet. And so I would recommend not posting anything on the net because you will indubitably encounter someone who doesn't give a flying f*** and will tell you exactly what they think, regardless of whether you want to hear it or not. I can understand if you don't want people telling you that it sucks and you should give up... but your only hurting yourself if you cut off the constructive aspects as well.

Or maybe you're taking her way too literally? If you knew anything about her, you'd know that she's said that she already knows what's wrong with it and she's tired of people like you telling her what she already knows.
Saying "I like it" isn't a critique. An artistic critique is judging the workmanship and quality of the piece using the artistic principles, and you point out what's wrong, what's right, and how to make it better. It also involves examining the deeper meaning in a piece.

I'm not too hot on the "no saying anything bad or giving advice thing" either, but she has pretty much said she's only posting it here to get good comments, and I don't mind that since I like her work. XD
Good stuff, as I told you on MSN. Can't wait to see more.

To Dr. Fann~ I was using watercolors for them. I recently started playing around with them, and I like them very much. :] And sorry that I'm so picky about the critiquing and stuff, I'm just really weird like that. And thanks, I appreciate it.
And, Ruinaru is right. = =
You're taking me way too literally. I don't need ego stroking. = = Pretty much the only reason I'm posting my art up here is so I get more involved with the forums because, to put it simple. I'm not a forum person.
And as snotty as it sounds, I don't get critique from anyone except people like close friends, I don't want it, and I don't care. I know what the human body looks like, and I can sure as hell tell when I've drawn something wrong. I used to take critiques but I don't want them anymore. Half the reason is because I like the learn things ON MY OWN. And you act like I don't take critique at all. Which, quite frankly, is not true. I'm always having my friends at school and my closest internet friends looking things over and asking for anatomy help and the such. = =
Hey, yeah, I admit it, I draw some weird crap. My boys all look like girls. But I'm happy with what I have, and if I want critique, I'll ask my FRIENDS for it.
As for you, you don't fit into that category. I have no clue who you are.
But if someone like Nightmare or Rui said, 'hey Ari, I noticed you missed a patch of grass' or 'a softer BG would look nice' or something, it wouldn't bother me so much. But usually I'll notice a mistake, some times I miss it, like I forgot a patch of grass under Adril's leg in a recent picture, but other than that. People telling me 'their arm looks funny' or something like that, it's just AGGRIVATING. Because I KNOW. Because I can barely draw arms, and I struggle with necks and torsos a lot.
There's just a small example.
I think you can understand that you don't want to be told something by people repeatedly that you've already noticed yourself.
Thank you, and byebye. ^ ^

Heh, I'm following what you said, literal or not. Maybe it was poor word choice on your part.
As for why you post your art... There are much better ways to join a community than post art. As it can leave you in a rather fragile position especially if people refuse to listen to your words and insist on doing exactly what you don't want. (Which if you see I've not commented at all on the art, but rather on your attitude about it.)
Maybe you say you don't need the ego stroking, but it certainly seems like that's what your after from my point of view. If you say no critique, then you better accept that across the board regardless of whoever it is. (Or else say from the start who can say anything. And be damned sure that you watch your word choices, as I love looking for loopholes in what people like you say.)
As far as noticing your own mistakes, yeah that's great. I understand that no one is harder on themselves than the artist. But part of being an artist is accepting the critique and criticisms. And I never said you didn't accept critique, I just said that you asked for no critique here. (Which is what you asked for, was it not?)

VZ, either put up and comment, or shut up, cause' you're not being helpful here. Let her be. Im not a major mod, but believe me, if you do this again, I can make your life a living hell. Now stop being a defunctional idiot, and say something about the artwork, how to improve it, or whatever. Just post something that COMMENTS, rather than 'Ill critique the artist instead'. Thats classed as harrassment on the best part, or flaming on a better. SO, put up or shut up. Your call pal.

Okay you two, that's enough.
Virus, just back off. Remember what your mother used to say. "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
She did state that she didn't want criticism, and it's her art thread, so like, just drop it. I'm sure you understand how much of a pain in the ass to run around breaking up fights over trivial stuff, so do me a favor and save me some trouble. <.<;
That was just the warning shot you guys, don't make me aim to kill. Please don't fight. D=

Blurgh. D| Yeas. Back to posting stuffs. Haha, this is Yoko and Elysia, both girls. Yoko's on the right, and belongs to me. Elysia's on the left and belongs to my friend Elyse. Eh...Elysia's hair came out in a way I didn't want it...and Yoko's hair spikes too much in the back. Messed up on legs too, and Yoko's chest and hand looks wonky. Though, I like how their faces look for the kiss, really proud of how that came out. :] I'm coloring it right now~

[EDIT] *Cuts out the stuff that could prolong a fight.* And yeah, if you need to not come to the thread to not cause trouble, by all means, don't visit the thread anymore <.<; [/EDIT]
Nightmare, just for clarification, my mother never gave me that line... But to save some trouble for you I guess I can let it go. But I think for the best I'm not going to post in this section anymore... Harder to cause trouble if I'm not in the section.
