The only thing weak to poison right now is Grass, and Sylveon obviously isn't Grass type. So if it is indeed weak to Poison, it has to be a new type.
But they never said it is weak to it, just that it could be. So that's still up in the air.
On the other hand, the only thing Ice resists is Ice, so that part of it doesn't help at all. Except to say if it is in fact a new type, Ice still won't resist it because Ice is a chump.

Does this mean it's a new type after all? Is there anything that actually fits that description? I don't understand all your new fangled Pokeymanz weaknesses and resistances. I memorized the card game and that's about as complex as I needed it to get. If it's all true and not just done as a comedy bit, yeah. Sylveon is a new type. What that type is, I can't say... but a lot of people seem to be latching on to the "fairy type" rumor.

Just confirmed by Nintendo Direct... Fairy-type does exist, and yes... Sylveon is one. Old pokemon currently confirmed to change type are Gardevoir, Jigglypuff and Marill.
Also, release date has been confirmed... worldwide October 12th.
They also showed two new Pokemon... a moth called "Vivilion" and a wyvern called "Noivern".

Called that new type thing, I just figured it would've been Light to counter Dark and not Fairy to counter Dragon... what's that going to be when a Jigglypuff demolishes your Salamance?
I imagine the Togepi line will also be Fairy type, and if Blissy is... well all hell breaks loose. We know they're effective against Dragons, do we know what they're weak against?

Man, I'm kinda liking the idea of a Fairy type. Finally something to actually counter Dragons that isn't incredibly useless. (I'M LOOKING AT YOU, ICE!)

The hour and a half X&Y presentation just happened, and... it wasn't streamed. But the Pokemon twitter did live tweet the event, so I was able to get some info.
"Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will refine the core aspects of Pokémon games: collecting, battling, and trading." Not exactly sure what this means... but it does sound interesting "Players will be able to choose 1 of 7 languages to play the game (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, or Korean)" Seems like we might be getting multiple language options. "The new PSS (Player Search System) will allow players to search for others locally or globally (via Wi-Fi) to battle and trade." Also seems like a matchmaking system is being added. "Mr. Masuda is demoing a battle via the PSS. The two opposing Pokémon are new for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y! Skrelp is a Poison- and Water-type Pokémon. Clauncher is a Water-type Pokémon." Skrelp.Clauncher.Sorry for the low quality... these are the only picture I could find. "Mr. Masuda just hinted that interacting with Pokémon in Pokémon-Amie will have an additional benefit in battle!" So, it's not just some random pointless mini-game. That's good to know. "A new battle scenario has just been announced! Get ready for Horde Encounters! 5-against-1 battles? That's gonna be tough!" This seems like it's gonna be fun. "Another new type of battle has been announced! Prepare for Sky Battles! Only some Flying-type Pokémon (and a few others) can enter a Sky Battle." "A few others", you say? "Talonflame, a new Fire- and Flying-type Pokémon, has just been revealed in a Sky Battle demo against Noctowl!" TalonflameOnce again, sorry for the quality. Only picture I have. "Talonflame has just been switched out for Haunter! But wait...Haunter isn't a Flying-type Pokémon..." This seems to suggest that the previously mentioned "few others" are Pokemon that have the ability "Levitate". "That's it for the Nintendo Developer Roundtable! We'll be posting a recap video of the event tomorrow!" And I will be posting that video as soon as I can.

I bet those horde encounters are for fighting this gen's evil team. Never made much sense for the bad guys to wait politely in a line and attack you one at a time.

That will make fighting them a lot more interesting. And as a quick note, I didn't mention it because it wasn't important... the demo for Horde Encounters was a Gogoat fighting five Houndour.

New video with a quick look at Sky Battles, Horde Encounters, and the three new Pokemon.
Also, according to the official site... Talonflame is an evolved form of Fletchling.

Holy crap! The information just seems to keep on coming! This time, in the form of the monthly CoroCoro leaks... Here we have Vivillon, a Bug/Flying type I mentioned yesterday. But we also see it's pre-evolution... Kofukimushi and Kofuurai... both of them being Bug type. Here we have Shishiko, who seems to be based off of a lion cub. It's Fire/Normal and can learn a move called "Battle Cry". And this is Furabebe, a Fairy type. It can learn "Fairy Wind", the same move we saw Gardevoir use in yesterday's trailer. I also seemed to miss this yesterday. This seems to be a screenshot of that new "PSS" thing... but the most important thing is that it seems to show that character customization is pretty damn good.

A recent fan theory has started popping up, and I actually think it's pretty interesting... so I'd thought I'd share it here. It involves one of the most recently announced Pokemon, Litleo. Yeah, the little Fire/Normal lion cub guy. But let's take a closer look at him... specifically, his tail. It could possibly be an oddly shaped tuft of fur... but the shape makes it resemble the stinger of a scorpion. Lion-like body... scorpion stinger... sounds almost like a manticore. So maybe it's not actually a lion after all... and is actually a juvenile manticore. Only problem, it's missing one feature that manticores have... wings. Of course, it's not that odd for a Pokemon to gain body parts after it evolves. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Oh boy, another Bug/Flying... like we didn't already have enough of those. Bug/fairy would have been cool for that.
