Hey there everyone! As I'm sure some of you are aware, we've been holding semi-frequently events in the chatroom where we share our stories. For those of you who aren't aware, a brief overview: Zero Virus has always been a largely creative community consisting of art, writing, spriting, comics, music, and other forms of creative expression among our community. Many of us have stories we've written over the years, be it for sprite comics, Roleplay characters, writing works, or other such things. But for many of us, these stories have been left untold for a very long time due to various circumstances. So all month we've been arranging get togethers in the chat about once a week where we get a bunch of us to sit down and just take turns telling our stories in an interactive environment where everyone else can give commentary and ask questions.

These story-time get togethers have been a lot of fun, but because not everyone can attend every single one, I've been documenting them to post on the forum. We've shared a lot of content with each other (as of my writing this, we've done 5 story-time sessions and have had 28 segments shared across those 5 days.)

For your convenience, I'm going to post each of these segments individually in spoiler tags to keep the pages small, and will provide a directory in this first post so you can find what you're looking for quickly if there's something specifically you're interested in.

Also: Feel free to post commentary in this thread if you so wish, or even share your own stuff. If you do share your own story here, rather than in the chat, be sure to put the meat of your post in spoiler tags to conserve space on the page.

<Nightmare> I know he's a vampire with ice powers, and he kills crap. But that's about it. I dunno how he became a vampire, what the source of his powers are, what his motivations or backstories are.

<Rick> Well, Rick was a templar of an order who's main purpose was to protect humanity from the creatures that lurked in the night (vampires,lycans, ect.)
<Nightmare> Neat. Did the order have a name? Just out of curiosity.

<Rick> I didn't get around of thinking of one
<Rick> During one of his pilgrimage, he caught wind that there was some very shady activities going on within the oder that involved high ranking members.
<Rick> bribery, people making undead ghouls with vamp blood and what not
<Rick> So,Rick collected his evidence and marched to the fortress to face the accused with a few templars loyal to him
<Rick> the truth came out and a battle broke out
<Rick> Rick and his templars were defeated. most of them died. others, like Rick, were used as experiments
<Nightmare> So I take it that's how he became a vampire and stuff? The bad guys playing with vampire blood and experimenting on him?
<Rick> yep
<Nightmare> I SEE. So like what sort of vampire weaknesses does he have?
<Rick> Sunlight.it doesn't kill him but it does weaken him like a mofo
<Rick> UV bullets also hurts like hell

<Nightmare> I remember in the RP he had bitchin ice powers, is that crap still canon? Or was that RP shenanigans?
<Rick> most of those were RP shenanigans. I kept a few things here and there. like the water bending
<Nightmare> Was that a power he had before or after becoming a vampire?
<XeroBloodline> A vampire that actually uses water. Huh.

<Nightmare> So it's a derivative of a vampire power then? That's neat.
<XeroBloodline> Okay yeah, now that makes more sense. I am all for blood magic in vampires. Not just superhero-style powers.
<Nightmare> I've seen Rick wave around a lot of swords and guns, does he have any favorites that are like, named or have any special properties?
<Rick> well, the swordsmanship was from the time he was templar (Old habbits die hard) and for the guns, he needed blend in with the modern era
<Nightmare> Ahhh so Rick is pretty old then huh?
<Rick> very
<Nightmare> Guess that makes sense since he's a vampire, just didn't really think about it.
<Nightmare> But yeah. Are his swords/guns/vehicles special, or are they more or less just generic, expendable tools?
<Rick> most of them are expendable but for some (Like the Deagles) are part of his personal arsenal. custom made to kill vampires and what not
<Nightmare> Do they have names? And like they're customized, is it like special UV bullets like what you mentioned before, or can they like do magic, or what?
<Nightmare> I'm harping on the weapons a bit just cause I'd like to put Rick in as a BattleBob opponent one of these days.
<Rick> the crusaders oath is the "corrupted" holy sword he carries around, as for the guns they don't have a particular name
<Rick> The guns can be loaded with all sorts of rounds into them but Rick mostly uses magic with them
<Rick> the crusaders oath is basically 2 swords in one. The one he using when he was Templar and the other is a cursed greatsword that he "found" during his travels
<Nightmare> How does that work? Is it like a Darth Maul swallow kind of deal with a different sword on each side of the handle? Or...?
<Rick> More like a day and night sort of thing. it's the regular sword when he swings it around but when he starts to use his abilities, it changes
<XeroBloodline> So a single sword with two different forms.
<Nightmare> Okay so.
<Nightmare> Rick is a templar in this order that's supposed to protect people.
<Nightmare> But they turn out to be sketchy as fudge.
<Nightmare> He tries to do something about it.
<Nightmare> His buddies get offed and he gets turned into a vampire.
<Nightmare> Where does Rick go from there? Does he escape the order? Does he continue to fight them?
<Rick> he breaks out of his prison, convince a crap ton of creatures to join his cause and leads a crusade against the order.it ended in a stalemate
<Jet> Meaning ceasefire and mutual disarmament or just never ending battle?
<Rick> never ending battle
<Nightmare> So he and this order are just kind of harassing each other on and off for forever?
<Rick> yep
<Nightmare> I seeeee. So that's kind of where the story picks up then? In modern day, Rick going about his business killing bad guys and presumably trying to figure out how to take down the order?
<Rick> more or less because there's was a brief period when Rick seriously crippled the order

<Jet> Is the goal to kill their leaders or somehow destory their source of power?
<Rick> it's mostly to kill the thier leaders and possibly to destroy the order all together
<Nightmare> Did you have the story all planned out by the time you made the comic? Or were you more or less gonna make it up as you went along? Clearly you've got the lore and background figured out.
<Rick> the story of the comic was gonna be in 2 parts
<Rick> part A was the vampire hunters and party B was Rick and Co
<Rick> and both parties would of crossed paths from time to time
<Nightmare> That's neat.
<Nightmare> One last important thing I needa know is who's Mike?
<Jet> I was looking at the old Fractured Souls thread and most of the links to the comics have expired, all of them except for the Prologue I think.
<Jet> Which is funny since those should be the oldest links.

<Nightmare> By far the biggest injustice Imageshack did to us by going to a paid system was robbing us of most of ZV's history.

<Nightmare> Final Fantasy ZV, the current RP, has Ryuae as a reoccuring character but he's a completely different character this time around.

<Majeh> Well, Ryuae and Ryunen's crap shifted around alot so that never really got pinned down inside my head beside the simple bullet points.
<Majeh> And I've all but thrown that entire idea out the window.

<Majeh> Well. Which variation of the comic story do you want me to talk about, the last one?
<Majeh> Before I lost all of my sprites and such?

<XeroBloodline> A brief synopsis wouldn't hurt.
<Nightmare> I'd say for the people who didn't get a chance to read it, yeah.

<Majeh> The basic begining premise was that Majeh was one of three reploids designed to house a new type of energy that was found in a ruined lab (one of wily's). The experiment went wrong when his brother, Kuma, goes mad under the influence of this energy and slaughters the scientists working on them and Majeh's brother, Akuma. Who was named that because I am bad at names.
<Majeh> And was like.... 14?
<Majeh> Jesus.
<XeroBloodline> Oh we all had bad ideas back then, don't worry.
<Nightmare> I forgot Kuma and Majeh had another brother.
<Majeh> He's suuuuper not important in the grand scheme.
<Majeh> I think I even cut him out in that last incarnation...
<XeroBloodline> But yeah, Kuma getting pissed and killing things. Neat.
<Majeh> I don't really remember.
<Majeh> Anywho.
<Majeh> Majeh was discovered in the lab by the Maverick Hunters and became an agent for them. He works with them for a short time, becoming friends with a captain named Edge Densetsu.
<Majeh> But then, after a mission, he's accused of being a Maverick by a group of hunters sent to bring him in. They attack him, unknowingly causing him to lose control of the energy and getting subsquently slaughtered by him.
<Nightmare> Typical Majeh murdering everyone
<Majeh> After which he becomes a Mercenary, trying to avoid the Hunters and trying to figure out what the hell is going on with him.
<Swim> What's their accusation based on? Sounds like he didn't go mad until after that.
<Swim> And if he's good buds with a captain I'd think they'd need some strong proof.
<Majeh> They were told by their commanding officer, the commander of the local Maverick Hunters in that region.
<Nightmare> omg he's a bad guy
<Majeh> Haaaahhhh- It's Psi.
<Nightmare> Welp. That explains that.
<Majeh> Psi also commisoned the project that created Majeh and Kuma in the first place. After he and their creator discovered wily's old lab.
<Nightmare> So Majeh's a mercenary trying to figure out what the heck he is. What about Kuma and Akuma?
<Majeh> Akuma was dead. Also not important.
<Majeh> He's kind of a middle stage and the first of the brothers.
<Majeh> Not quite as strong as either of them, but isn't as robotic as Kuma, nor as prone to crazy bursts of murdering as Majeh.
<Nightmare> Neat.
<Nightmare> So he's made to be more human-like?
<Nightmare> Or is he a cyborg?
<Majeh> Er. No, he's a reploid.
<Majeh> I mean more emotionally.
<Nightmare> Ahhh. I get it.
<Nightmare> Figures the only one in Majeh's family with any chill dies horribly.
<Majeh> Soooo horribly.
<Majeh> Anywho.
<Majeh> As the comic would drive on, it would be revealed that Kuma, despite the initial impression of him, wasn't that crazy at all. As it would of followed him for a bit as he tries to stay hidden from the hunters with their creator. I intended for him to have a bit of an arc where he would discover a family murdered by a maverick with only a daughter remaining, who he would take in.
<Nightmare> Get all Sesshomaru up in this bitch.
<Nightmare> Humanize the hell out of him.
<Majeh> That's right. :I
<Swim> That would've been cool.
<Nightmare> Yeah I kinda thought it was weird that in the comic Kuma was a murdering fiend and seemed clearly villainous.
<Nightmare> But in the Dragon Ball ZV RP he was a lot calmer and even worked with the party most of the time.
<Nightmare> Figured it was a discrepancy between the two stories.
<Majeh> After awhile of switching between the two of them, Majeh's slow descent into madness as he begins to find things that make him question his origins, and Kuma's growing fondness for this family he's made with his preverbal father and this girl he's taken in, we would start to reach a climax.
<Majeh> Because Edge would be shown to have been suspicious about all of this and investigated, slowly unraveling Psi's invovlment in all this.
<Majeh> Who had continued to experiment with the dark energy after their creation. Sicking his creations out as mavericks to test their capabilities and well.
<Majeh> F**k with Majeh and Kuma.
<Majeh> Because he's a big bag'a dick.
<Nightmare> Yes he is.
<Bloodbane> Yep, story checks out. Total bag'a dick.
<Majeh> This would culiminate with him finally finishing his experiments and creating a prototype version of that Devil Kaiser armor I did a sprite of back then, and that he had back in the DBZVRP.
<Nightmare> Yeeaaah. That cool dark energy suit of armor thingy.
<Majeh> Psi would leave his post, causing Edge to finally try to gather some hunters together to track him down and find him.
<Majeh> Psi in the meantime would go find Kuma's little family while he was away and beat the crap out of Dr. Kaiser. But not kill him. But he suuuuuper murders the little girl.

<Majeh> Majeh is the first one there, as he did not have to grieve over murdered orphan.

<Majeh> In one last attempt to fudge with Majeh, because he felt closer and closer to godhood and unstoppable, he reveals the truth of what happened the day he was activated.
<Majeh> Kuma had not gone mad at all. Infact, he was considered a success in containing and using the dark energy. It was Majeh who had gone mad and slaughtered everyone, which Psi proves by showing him footage of him doing the deed.

<Nightmare> So Kuma was never evil at all.
<Majeh> Nope.

<Majeh> So this news shocks Majeh to his core.
<Majeh> Throwing his mind into disarray, the news causes him to finally lose it as all the precautions to keep his power from dominating him fail.
<Majeh> Which, if any of you remember Defiled, he was one such precaution.
<Majeh> A secondary personality to deal with some of the effects of the dark energy.
<Majeh> Which got corrupted of course, which caused his first crazy spree.
<Nightmare> So what he was a figment of Majeh's imagination?
<Nightmare> Not a literal dude?
<Majeh> He was a program in his head more like.
<Nightmare> So figment of his robot imagination.
<Majeh> A different method of trying to control the Dark energy, from Kuma's lack of emotion.
<Nightmare> So he was corrupted then? Is that why he was being a dickhead?
<Majeh> Yessire
<Nightmare> Cause the Defiled I remember did a sh*t job of keeping Majeh calm.
<Nightmare> Seemed to start sh*t more often than not.
<Majeh> Well, like I said. He didn't work out like intended.
<Nightmare> Right.
<Majeh> Annyyywho.
<Majeh> Even Defiled was wiped from his mind when Majeh's mind broke, causing him to take shape into the monster that some of you might remember from the DBZVRP.
<Majeh> Which only had bits of his body change, while this was a full transformation.
<Nightmare> Dang.
<Nightmare> So Majeh, upset over murdering dudes, becomes a murder monster.
<Nightmare> Sucks to be him.
<Majeh> He then proceeds to murder the sh*t out Psi. Who doesn't stand a chance against Majeh under the full grip of his madness.
<XeroBloodline> Yay!
<XeroBloodline> ...I mean, yay dead Psi. Not yay murderous Satan...
<Majeh> We then have Edge and a group of Hunters enter the lab, discovering the former Commander's torn apart remains and the monster that Majeh now was
<Majeh> Majeh proceedes to try and murder the hell out of them, forcing them to flee in horror and terror from Majeh as he slaughters many of the hunters with Edge!
<Majeh> Edge narrowly escapes the lab as Kuma finally arrives at the scene and, seeing the state his brother was now in, decides to do his duty as a brother and put an end to Majeh.
<Nightmare> Damn.
<Nightmare> So Majeh and Kuma fight now.
<Majeh> So that final battle between Kuma and Majeh would be the final battle of the comic, forcing Kuma to steer himself almost over the same edge as Majeh was now way over.
<Majeh> By the end, Kuma would win, but I never quite decided how I wanted it to close. Kuma would survive beyond that event, but I didn't know for the sake of the comic what would happen to Majeh. Whether he dies or is just stopped and put into statsis.
<Majeh> Or if I wanted to even just leave that as a vauge answer.
<Majeh> And that's the end.
<Majeh> :I

<Majeh> He would of been a side character, one of a trio of two brothers and a sister
<Majeh> They would of been the avenue for Majeh and Edge to start getting information about Psi and Majeh's orgins.
<Nightmare> I see.
<Nightmare> What were the other siblings' names?
<Majeh> Scourge and...uhhh...
<Majeh> Kin? I think?
<Nightmare> I SEE. I guess that's my only question. I was thinking about him because I remembered making a ZVTCG Card out of him and I offhandedly mentioned to Ed the other night that you had a guy named Rune but I dunno who the heck he was.
<Majeh> As I recall, the three of them were also going to be part of a group that was fully aware that Psi was a manipluative monster.
<Majeh> And were trying to oust him from the hunters and reveal who he really was.
<Nightmare> Nice.
<Nightmare> Well does anyone else wanna pick Majeh's brain a bit before we let someone else have the floor?

Nightmare explains the joke behind Majeh being Satan

<Nightmare> In the RP I remember Majeh became Satan (thus starting that whole joke) when, and if I may go off on a little tangent here, a particular (and kinda silly) story arc happened in Dragon Ball ZV, our first major Role Playing story.
<Renegade> By all means

<Nightmare> The IZV tried to take over the world, blah blah blah, ended in a final battle that was Majeh, Silver, and Sanic Shory vs Xistar.
<Nightmare> Long story short, Xistar killed Silver, making Majeh, Shory, and everyone else sad.
<Nightmare> Majeh was emo for awhile, but then Shaenah, a weird acid-spitting spirit wolf/fox thing showed up and needed help or some crap.
<Nightmare> Cause Ryuae was doing as Ryuae does and raising an army of the undead and waging war on the world.
<Nightmare> Cause he was a bag a'dicks in that RP.
<XeroBloodline> Stupid undead armies...
<Nightmare> This arc is actually where Alice was introduced to ZV. We found her in the luggage compartment of an airship we stole from a Hunter Base that had been overrun by zombies.
<Nightmare> She went in there to hide and fell asleep.
<Nightmare> Cause Alice.
<Rick> lots of zambies died that day
<Nightmare> Indeed.
<Nightmare> Anyway. The party teams up with Shaenah, who because she's a spirit wolf/fox dealy can travel between the world of the living and the world of the dead.
<Nightmare> So getting our help, she helps us travel to the spirit world.
<Nightmare> Where we find and wrest open the Gates of Hell. Cause Ryuae is chilling in there taking control of all the evil sh*t and using it to kill everyone.
<Nightmare> And find that Ryuae was able to do this crap cause he enslaved Satan.
<Nightmare> Yes really.
<Nightmare> And then Ryuae taunted Majeh (again, bag a'dicks) by waving around Silver's soul being like "lol look what I found when I came to the Spirit World, nerds."
<Nightmare> And then made Majeh fight Satan for his amusement.
<Nightmare> Majeh, using Ryunen's soul-eating sword made specifically for killing Gods, kills Satan.
<Nightmare> Pissing Ryuae off and causing him to abandon Hell.
<Nightmare> Thus stopping the rampage and dropping Silver's soul in the process.
<Nightmare> So Majeh nabbed Silver's soul and took it with us back to the world of the living and used it to revive Silver.

<Fusion> Yeah, I'm here and can ramble.
<Nightmare> Good. What's the deal with Fusion as a character? I know you do a lot of RPs so there's a lot of versions of him, but what do you consider canon?
<Renegade> Dats a good question
<Fusion> For me, the baseline of Fusion as a character is always going to be the reploid, and yeah there have been a lot of iterations. But if I had to pick one, it'd probably be the last version I'd made which was basically a total relaunch of the entire idea behind the character, for another room that's long fell into inactivity.
<Nightmare> Tell us a bit about him.
<Fusion> Just a forewarning, I tend not to script a lot of stuff in advance, but I at least go as far as the character before I feel like I could present it anywhere.
<Nightmare> Well it's fine if you don't have an in depth story to go with him.
<XeroBloodline> Just share with us whatever you've got, any and all ideas and we can sort 'em out later.
<Fusion> So this Fusion's story pretty much started in X1 since I'd made him for another RP, though I've more or less accepted as how he got started.
<Fusion> He was still built by Dr. Cain, but as far as his relationship to Sigma is concerned, they're both high performance combat reploids, but their similarity really ends there. He was originally built to support the human police with their operations, though once Maverick attacks started picking up he was moved to the Hunters and given some poorly executed upgrades that required some extra tuning.
<Fusion> One of those things was the ability to 'manage' pain. So for a while, he simply didn't feel any and would frequently need to be forced into repairs. Hence, you could chop his arm off and he wouldn't care, unless he kind of needed that arm for something.
<Nightmare> Makes sense for a reploid made to do dangerous work I guess.
<Fusion> Yeah, there was a change made later where the insensitivity to pain thing was fixed, but in the process Fusion was given the option of feeling it, though only at a physical level. Can't have him stop feeling pain of all kinds altogether, that's too dangerous. I'm not sure if I want to include events in the RP as part of this, though...
<Nightmare> It could work.
<Nightmare> It's an interesting thing though. Fusion as a law enforcement reploid.
<Nightmare> We see lots of reploids built for specific jobs in the MegaMan universe but I don't think there was one for specifically helping the police.
<Nightmare> So I guess a couple questions I had specifically that may or may not be relevant to this version of Fusion, but you've had a couple characters before...
<Nightmare> If I'm not derailing your train of thought too much.
<Nightmare> But Tau Cain and Tidus Cain. Am I correct in assuming that Tau is an alternate Fusion that's human, and Tidus a descendant? Or is there more to it than that?
<Fusion> I droppped the whole 'Tau Cain' thing entirely from Fusion, but Tidus is still in with an unknown last name. Tidus ended up repurposed as a new guy who was supposed to help maintain some of the reploids on the Hunter base, and was also responsible for originally designing Fusion.
<Nightmare> Ahhh.
<Nightmare> Neat.
<Nightmare> I know you said you didn't have a lot of nailed down details but are there any other interesting bits of information?
<Fusion> Also gave him a bit more armament. This Fusion had the energy pistol and a bunch of small things, such as grenades and trackers to throw around hidden in his wrists.
<Nightmare> Nice.
<Swim> I remember you made one sprite with gigantic hair and you said he was the supreme law of that world, don't remember which one that was though.
<Fusion> That was some crazy alternate universe.
<Swim> Where those with the biggest hair rule supreme, I understand.
<Nightmare> XD
<Nightmare> There have been all sorts of Fusions.
<Nightmare> We had one in the RP that was a nine tailed fox with his own private forest.
<Fusion> Yeah. Anyway, this Fusion does develop at least one superpower, and I essentially describe it as "okay, so he becomes Batman". Remember what I mentioned about selectively being able to feel pain?
<Nightmare> Yeah?
<Fusion> In the RP, he ends up captured by one of his friends turned maverick and brought to an abandoned, yet maintained base. ...Now, to be fair, the base was another player's thing and I never had any idea what they wanted to do with it (since they proceeded to do nothing with it) but this base was capable of radically refashioning his body.
<Fusion> So now he could not only selectively feel pain, he could jettison limbs entirely if they were damaged severely enough, and also this internal redesign granted him access to an energy buffer. Or, my way of explaining how some enemies in the X series just form their weapons out of energy and such.
<Fusion> He frequently did this to make self-maintenance easier. Just pop your leg off, then open it up and clean out the dust or something..
<Fusion> Following that change he also became able to perform maintenance and upgrades on himself. I guess another superpower of his would be that he was able to resist the Sigma Virus because essentially he had the willpower to fight it back.
<Swim> So, I feel like you've talked a lot about his abilities but not a lot on plot. You said you didn't plan a ton in advance but did you have some sort of climax in mind? Where's his story going?
<Swim> Is Sigma his main enemy then?
<Fusion> No, Sigma was kind of taken up by another guy. You might've heard of him, his name was X.
<Fusion> He had a friend named Zero.
<Nightmare> XD;
* XeroBloodline gives Fusion a cookie.
<Nightmare> Well I just assumed that since Fusion was an RP character his plot mostly evolved in line with the other storylines running in that RP. Just seems like it takes place more or less in the MMX universe.
<Fusion> Yeah, I've honestly been winging it since the RP itself never actually made it into X2 territory.
<Nightmare> Fair enough I suppose.
<Fusion> Generally, everything I've said has happened to multiple versions of the same reploid character, and it all kind of blends together into a timeline for me.
<Fusion> With that said, he did have a big rival.
<Fusion> A maverick by the name of Electrance Gnat. Do you know hard it is to kill a gnat? That's long story short, there.
<Nightmare> XD
<Nightmare> A gnat huh?
<Fusion> Yep, a Gnat maverick.
<Nightmare> Forgive me if I don't find that concept threatening.
<XeroBloodline> I could see where a gnat maverick would be a huge pain, though.
<XeroBloodline> Those fudgeers are annoying.
<Fusion> Also, Swim: Yeah, I never planned out a big story in detail. Never made a comic surrounding him and the closest thing we got was what Nightmare put him to use for in his comic.

<Renegade> Xero finally comes out because he keeps hearing noise and wants to make sure it isn't some sort of robo bear destroying crap.

<Renegade> Xero gets Rene to come back inside and is going to FINALLY show him how to order supplies and crap for the house in case any emergency happens. In going to the teleporter terminal and trying to show him how to order just about anything some errors come up. Xero does that raised eyebrow thing and decides that they should probably investigate and heads to the major populated area of West City
<Renegade> (since its the closest to the Roadhouse)
<XeroBloodline> To be fair, I do that alot...
<XeroBloodline> The eyebrow thing.
<Renegade> They get in to the city and Xero asks what the deal is with the no teleporting supplies and some engineers say that there has been power outages around the city caused by some explosions. Xero and Rene decide they don't want to get involved with stuff blowing up (you remember Hunter base/military stuff with bloody nightmare right? no one wants that many explosions again. Also black crescent? yeah. none of that either) So they instead decide it is time for some food.
<Nightmare> Good call.
<Renegade> Xero says he knows the best pizza place in all of existence, so they head to "Bloody Good Pizza" when they arrive and are about to open the door, Xero being the observant one notices someone is sprinting away in a devious manner and GUESS WHAT Explosions. Rubble blocks the Bloody Good Pizza entrance and Xero tells Rene to go after the person running away.
<Renegade> So Xero can help all the citizens inside the pizza place(and because its damned good pizza)
<Renegade> As Rene chases the Bomber he gets a good look at him and the baddie announces that his name is Sinde and that he also recognizes Rene from a long time ago. Rene focuses on Sinde's outfit and notices a very particular emblem that is the "Forgotten Trinity" emblem(you may remember this doodad from the carnival one year)
<Nightmare> Yes. It was the treasure in one of the stages for the 2012 event.
<Nightmare> Ravitan's Remains.
<Renegade> DUN DUN DUNNNNN
<Rick> the plot thickens
<Renegade> Rene and Sinde fight and Sinde manages to be able to fudge right off because explosions are good for escaping(also Rene is kinda a scrub and pretty crap at fighting kinda sorta in a super populated area). Rene gives up because Sinde is long gone and heads back to the pizza place. Xero asks what happened as he has pizza in hand. Rene explains and has one of those sorta flash back episodes of his home town Ravitan and its one of those everything is on fire/destroyed ones.
<Nightmare> Damn.
<Nightmare> I hate those ones.
<Nightmare> In memory of Ravitan.
<Renegade> In memory of Ravitony.

* Nightmare claps.
<Renegade> Xero and Rene head back to the Roadhouse after eating some pizza and Rene decides its time for a serious training montage. He asks Xero to give him the training he would need to better himself and become more in tune with his own abilities. Xero goes ahead and turns on the montage music and while the extra long extra special effects fight scenes are happening the flashback episodes play as well.
<Nightmare> I'm curious about the contents of these flashback episodes.
<Renegade> Ravitan was Renegade's home for the most part but it was mostly a bounty hunter-y guild that he spent his time where he went and did missions for ____ town or ___ person. Renegade usually only did missions alone thus "Renegade" was the nickname given.
<Nightmare> Neat.
<Nightmare> Are those blanks blank for suspense of blank cause you have no f**king clue or what.
<XeroBloodline> I think they're just open ended. Like he did missions for alot of towns and alot of people.
<Renegade> Yeah, it wasn't anyone particular.
<Renegade> The Forgotten Trinity was composed of 3 members of extra Dick bags that to be honest I don't remember or have the notes of of their names. Sinde was a bomb expert(grenades dynamite you know that sorta thing), There was a chick who was a sharpshooter and another dude who was a magic-y sorta person.
<Renegade> The Forgotten Trinity would just go around and murder/destroy whatever because they thought they were the baddest thing since Nightmares were Bloody.
<Renegade> They happened upon Ravitan and killed everybody in there and blew the whole thing up. Renegade and a few others banded together that were gone at the time of the destruction and were going to take vengeance.
<Renegade> They tracked the Trio down in the woods and tried to get the jump on them, Renegade tried to flank them but by the time he had gotten there the others had already been blown to bits/shot/on fire/etc. The Trio start to taunt Renegade, calling him that ("Renegade") as well not even knowing that was what LITERALLY EVERYONE calls him. At that moment the military force comes in surrounds the group and does one of those "dead or alive your coming with us". Renegade is all sorts of "fudge this crap I'm not with them!" and bails. The Trio fight the military because you know, fame and glory and crap. People die, but 2/3 of the Forgotten Trinity die. Sinde in explosion-y fashion gets away.
<Nightmare> So we're down to one Renegade, one Trinity, and a lot of dead bodies.
<Swim> We hardly knew Sniper girl and Mage boy.
<Swim> And now they'll be forgotten.
<Nightmare> They don't call them the Forgotten Trinity for nothing apparently.
<Tony> Rest in Piss nameless assholes.
<Renegade> The flashback sorta ends with Renegade bumping in to Xero in the woods in the Bloodline comics. During the flashbacks it is of course cutting back to Rene getting varying degrees of ass whooping and whooping ass. Where Xero finally gets him to focus his abilities to the degree that he should probably be at by now(this is where a Black Crescent flashback plays and I think this is one of those I need help with Xero on because I think we fleshed that part together but I dont recall)
<Renegade> Xero being smarter then your average panda with a spot on it's forehead figures Rene has some unfinished business with Sinde and lets him set off to West City again. Rene wanders the city for a bit trying to get information on Bomberman extrodinaire. Much like most stories, some explosions happen but this time its at a train station! Rene rushes in and of course finds douchebag mcgee and they have a battle of Nightmare/Xero combined comic quality(you know like one of them 150 panel ones). Rene manages to get the upperhand after many explosions are had and knocks out Sinde in the end. Rene has one of those moments where he could just kill the dude but decides against it and brings him to part of the military(jail? maybe? this is nightmare department mostly) and turns Sinde in.
<Renegade> One of the officers looks at Renegade and says he looks familiar and seems to be a bit of a hard ass towards him(cough cough it was Corona or some crap) because it was the Bloody Nightmare incident. Renegade acknowledges that he had a part of getting that sorted out. Now with his new found victory he makes a lap to get some BLOODY GOOD PIZZA and brings it back to the Road House. He goes to offer some to Xero and Amp and finds out that Cyber had gone off to deal with some bullshit on the planet Bolaris.
<Renegade> -THE END.... or is it!? FIND OUT NEXT TIME WHEN XERO AND NIGHTMARE TALK ABOUT THEIR STUFF!!!

<Nightmare> I have a lot of things I can talk about.
<Nightmare> But I think one thing that needs to be addressed is the ending of the Aura Stone Arc in my comic.
<Nightmare> Now let me preface by saying that my comic has undergone a lot of revisings over the years. Nightmare's story has been redone from the ground up in my head a dozen times at least, with some major changes between each version.
<Nightmare> The one I started making into a sprite comic is one of the more lucid versions of it, but is still dumb as hell.
<Nightmare> I had that one planned out from start to finish almost. But never finished it (obviously.)
<Nightmare> And in the millions of times I've planned to reboot it, I've had a much different and much more coherent story planned out for it. So the events of my comic as you know it are dubiously canon at best.
<Nightmare> But, I'll start by talking about my comic as it was planned for my comic. Since that's what most of you are most familiar with. And has the most history on ZV.
<Nightmare> Now to briefly summarize my comic up to that point, as well as adding in some backstory that never got explained (by that point) in that version of my comic.
<Nightmare> Nightmare (a.k.a Nightmare MegaMan Zero) started life as replicas of X and Zero made to help fight a war against a warlord on another planet. This warlord being some sh*tlord called Audacity, who was using the Nightmares from X6 to take over the world because he's a f**khead.
<Nightmare> Audacity originally hailed from Earth but basically began his conquest on an easier to subjugate planet so that he could become some sort of planetary overlord and amass forces to take Earth.
<Nightmare> This planet Audacity was taking over was a mostly desert planet and is actually Spex's home planet.
<Swim> Is everyone there a cat?
<Nightmare> No that's a much dumber story. The cat thing, I mean. That was covered in my comic though. Mostly.
<Swim> Wait, you said it was a desert planet, is it basically a giant litterbox?
<Nightmare> This is before Spex became a cat. He wasn't originally a furry, if you recall.
<Swim> I think you should retroactively make the planet a litterbox.
<Swim> But go on.
<Nightmare> Long story short, X and Zero were heroes of Earth, so this other planet made copies of them hoping that they could have their own heroes too. It worked (mostly) until the X and Zero replicas were almost successfully destroyed by Audacity. They couldn't salvage the reploids until someone decided to do something crazy.
<Nightmare> And made a new reploid out of parts from both. Thus creating MegaMan Zero. It was awesome in my 13 year old mind.
<XeroBloodline> Most things are...

<Nightmare> MegaMan Zero became the hero of the world blah blah blah until Audacity successfully infected him with the Nightmare virus. Naturally, this turned him into purple goo.
<Nightmare> Because...
<Nightmare> I don't know.
<Nightmare> Also made him turn into a Zero recolor?
<Nightmare> The logic is sketchy.
<Nightmare> Thus creating Nightmare MegaMan Zero. Because on this planet, it's hip to name stuff by just adding things on top of existing names over and over.
<Nightmare> Anyway. Because his people feared him now, NMMZ was pulled off the front lines. They didn't put him down cause he did kind of turn the war in their favor, but he was also infected with the Nightmare virus and they didn't wanna risk him going Maverick or something if he was put in a combat situation.
<Nightmare> So he got demoted from leader of the army to a jailer.
<Nightmare> Where he met Spex. Now by this point Spex was a cat. Cause Spex as some of you may remember from my comic, had a dumb back story that was poorly written by my buddy Paul who you may remember as SpEX around here.
<Nightmare> A dumb back story that was basically "Spex was an evil murdering bandit, and he was so evil and so murdering that when he was finally killed in battle, Satan was so impressed he offered to reincarnate him if he continued his rampage! Spex chose to be reincarnated as a cat (I dunno why???) and came back as a furry!"
<Tony> ....

<Nightmare> But Spex planned to double cross the devil and instead reform himself so that when he died again he may avoid hell. But because the devil don't play that sh*t, Spex would occasionally be overcome by the spirit of his former self.
<Nightmare> Which is why he'd turn into a murderous Human Spex.
<Nightmare> Needless to say I retconned all that sh*t when I was gonna reboot the comic.
<Nightmare> ANYWAY
<Nightmare> Spex had joined Audacity's army, not because he liked Audacity or anything, but to satiate his bloodlust. He figured if he became a soldier for the nearest army he could kill people and have it be okay cause he was just following orders. Some sort of heavenly loophole or something???
<Nightmare> It didn't go well and he was eventually captured. And ended up in jail. With Nightmare guarding his cell.
<Nightmare> Basically they were both bored and victims of their circumstances and secretly became buddies. When word came from higher up to execute all of the Audacian prisoners, Nightmare helped Spex escape.
<Nightmare> And that's why they knew each other and were friends when Spex randomly showed up on Nightmare's roof in the first issue of my comic.
<Nightmare> That's where they knew each other from, rather.
<XeroBloodline> Neat. I don't think even I knew that story, in any incarnation.
<Nightmare> As for Audacity, his army was crushed and he escaped, never to be heard from again (or was he!?) and the war on the Litter Box planet ended in victory for the common folk.
<Tony> Yay, common folk!
<Nightmare> Nightmare got wind that Audacity fled to Earth, so he himself went to Earth.
<Nightmare> Cause he wanted to get revenge on that guy for turning him into a weird Nightmare monster.
<Nightmare> But Nightmare learned that, much like Spex, he was also prone to fits of violent rage. Basically going Maverick cause of the Nightmare Virus. But it only happened when he was in battle. Something about some combat program being infected or horsesh*t like that. It's been awhile so some of those details are a little fuzzy.
<Nightmare> So he hired Neoforte to do his fighting for him. So that he could be the brains and keep his head screwed on straight while Neoforte was his muscle.
<Nightmare> So that's why someone like Nightmare needed a "bodyguard".
<Nightmare> That's the backstory behind Nightmare, Neoforte, and Spex's unholy trinity becoming a thing.
<Swim> I did wonder how Neoforte came in.
<Swim> You said he followed Audacity to Earth.
<Nightmare> Yes.
<Swim> But at the start of the comic Nightmare is just dicking around being lazy.
<Swim> Had Audacity already been dealth with?
<Nightmare> No, Audacity hadn't been dealt with. Admittedly it does look like Nightmare is just sitting around being retarded. But he did have his kind of background projects and was trying to track down Audacity. That would have come into play later if my comic had continued further.
<Nightmare> Like he would sit around researching and hacking into databases trying to follow a cyber trail and would occasionally slip out and go some ground work (which in my headcanon is how he got mixed up in the Cursed Bloodlines stuff, he needed money to fund some of his sh*t and when the chance to take the money offered on Xero's head arose, it was hard to pass up.)
<Swim> K. I figured when you started you hadn't thought that far, but I wanted to know how your villain fit into the current story.

<Swim> Is there a reason he couldn't warn the hunters that Audacity was in town and get some help? He was based off of X and Zero you said.
<Nightmare> The short answer is yes, because Audacity had infiltrated the Hunters and was manipulating crap behind the scenes.
<Nightmare> The medium answer is Audacity had the hunters believing that Nightmare was dangerous cause of his virus and so for the most part they didn't trust him.
<Nightmare> The long answer will come later.

<Nightmare> But anyway. All that backstory stuff happens. Nightmare comes to Earth to find Audacity. Nightmare gets mixed up in Cursed Bloodlines.
<Nightmare> My comic starts. Nightmare, Neoforte, and Spex pal around. Neoforte doesn't trust Spex, they fight, Nightmare smooths it out, Hunters show up cause they wanna capture Spex cause he's wanted as fudge for the whole murdering bandit thing...
<Nightmare> Bloody Nightmare happens, giving the Hunters way bigger fish to fry than Spex...
<XeroBloodline> You're welcome, by the way...
<Nightmare> Now.
<Nightmare> The Aura Stone Arc. At long last.
<Nightmare> Then Aura Stone Arc happens. Spex gets worse at controlling his original self cause Satan wants some f**king bodies. Spex goes emo, gets into a fight at the Aura Stone mine and sits on a Black Aura Stone.
<Nightmare> That Aura Stone pretty much causes his evil mind to be locked in his current, supercharged cat body.
<Nightmare> Because story reasons???
<Nightmare> And Spex picks up where he left off before dying.
<Nightmare> Everybody tries to fight him, including Xero, but with the Aura Stone buffing him he's too strong and a huge pain in the ass.
<Nightmare> So Nightmare and Neoforte devise a way to seal away that evil energy using an Energy Containment Machine.
<Nightmare> That's where my comic left off.
<Nightmare> Right before the final battle of course.
<Nightmare> Now, here's the stuff that was planned that you didn't get to see....
<Nightmare> Nightmare and Neoforte head Spex off as he's entering a city he wants to level.
<Nightmare> They roll in with the Energy Containment Machine.

<Nightmare> Anyway. Nightmare and Neoforte roll up on Spex with the Energy Containment Machine.
<Nightmare> Nightmare starts using it to scan Spex's body and isolate the energy inside him that they need to seal, and starts calibrating the machine.
<Nightmare> While Neoforte has to fight Spex to distract him.
<Nightmare> So Neoforte and Spex fight again.
<Nightmare> Neoforte's on the ropes.
<Nightmare> And Nightmare finishes.
<Nightmare> Then they trade off.
<Nightmare> Neoforte has to charge the machine and then fire when it's both ready and he has a clear shot.
<Nightmare> So then Nightmare and Spex fight again.
<Nightmare> Only this time Nightmare breaks out a new transformation, which I'm not sure where the sprites are for that.
<Nightmare> But basically he shapeshifts himself with more armor and has a couple new abilities.
<Nightmare> Nothing too fancy.
<Nightmare> Long story short, Spex beats Nightmare's ass and the machine isn't ready yet. But then Nightmare goes Nightmare Virus Maverick mode.
<Nightmare> So then Maverick Nightmare and Spex fight and they're both just a couple of masses of rage and destruction.
<Nightmare> Neoforte is sitting there like "Jesus Christ what the f**k."
<Nightmare> The machine dings off.
<Nightmare> Neoforte says "Oh thank God" and shoots Spex.
<Nightmare> And Nightmare.
<Nightmare> Cause f**k.
<Nightmare> The machine wasn't calibrated to fix Nightmare but the blast calms his ass down.
<Nightmare> Spex on the other hand has his "Human form" sealed away permanently (ish.)
<Nightmare> And then the three of them get the f**k out of there and go back to laying low to avoid the fallout of all that bullsh*t.
<Nightmare> It would have been an epic series of battles.
<Nightmare> Using all of the panels.
<Nightmare> Miles and miles of panels.
<XeroBloodline> Knowing you it would have been like 2000 panels long or something.
<Nightmare> Something.
<Nightmare> And that's the conclusion of the Aura Stone Arc.
<Nightmare> There's much more to Nightmare's story.

Xero explains how "The Legend of Black Crescent" story arc in "Cursed Bloodlines" would have played out, had it continued to completion.

<XeroBloodline> You guys finally wanna hear about what happened with Black Crescent?
<Bloodbane> do the thing!
<FDSuprema> I bet it was the moon in disguise.
<XeroBloodline> First off, a little backstory/retconning to do.
<XeroBloodline> Pretty much, 90% of the Megaman references are gone from Cursed Bloodlines now. Cyber, Xero, and such were always humans, but the reploids and Maverick Hunters and such are nowhere near as prevelant.
<XeroBloodline> Reploids still exist, but they're kinda like Native Americans in this world. They're around, but they mind their own business and don't fudge with anoybody. Most of them have in fact left Earth by now.
<XeroBloodline> So, if you guys remember in the comic, Cyber was searching for Black Crescent because that's the last thing his mother told him to do before she died. Xero wanted nothing to do with it, basically trying to forget all about his parents cause he never knew his father, and wasn't really close with his mother. But eventually Xero relented and Cyber, Xero, Amp, and Renegade all went looking for Black Crescent.
<XeroBloodline> The last thing you see in the comic is them being trapped in a cave about to be ambushed by Shadows, Black Crescent's minions.
<Renegade> I remember that
<Xzero> I somewhat remember the arguments
<XeroBloodline> Short version, the crew survives that fight, rather easily, in a flashy team effort kicking all kinds of ass.
<XeroBloodline> They continue to work their way through the caves, Cyber moving faster and faster through the caves almost leaving the others behind.
<XeroBloodline> Eventually they come to a chamber with a large symbol engraved in the cave wall (the Black Crescent logo you guys should know) and the Crescent Scythe sitting in the middle of the chamber.
<XeroBloodline> Immediately the brothers have complete opposite reactions to seeing it. Cyber is enthralled by the scythe, thinking this will have all the answers to some of his past, namely his parents. Xero however can't shake this horrible feeling that finding this weapon could not be a worse idea.
<XeroBloodline> But despite all of Xero's warnings, Cyber grabs the Crescent Scythe. Immediately there's some kind of reaction, and the entire mountain they're in begins to rumble, suddenly energy is spewing out of the scythe and surging into Cyber. The cave is collapsing around them, Xero screams and Amp and Rene to get out of there.
<XeroBloodline> Xero stays behind to try and help Cyber, but suddenly a massive explosion errupts from Cyber and the scythe, Amp and Rene are thrown from the mouth of the cave in the explosion, and Xero and Cyber are presumed trapped in the crumbling mountain.
<Renegade> Explosions man
<Renegade> I'm telling you.
<XeroBloodline> Rene is eventually awoken by Amp frantically trying to get him up, because they're slowly being surrounded by Shadows, dozens and dozens of them.
<Tony> ...
<XeroBloodline> They're severly outnumbered, not to mention hurting since they just got hurled by an explosion out of a mountain.
<XeroBloodline> When suddenly, out of nowhere, a mysterious man in a long brown coat, with spikey flowing purple hair appears out of nowhere, and starts trashing the Shadows, using all kinds of techniques and magic Amp and Rene had never seen before. Before long, this one man had taken out every Shadow with minimal effort, just in time to save Amp and Rene from certain death.
<XeroBloodline> He introduces himself as Shadobane (yes the name is that obvious, I'll get to that) and he tells Amp and Rene they have to get out of there, immediately. Rene tries to argue, saying they need to find Xero and Cyber first, but Shadobane tells them that was only the first wave of Shadows, and they need to get out of there to regroup.
<XeroBloodline> So the three of them work their way back to the Roadhouse...
<XeroBloodline> In the meantime, we cut to Xero in this giant colosseum type room that is still underground, completely stripped of any armor or weapons.
<XeroBloodline> He's lying on the floor unconscious, but is eventually awoken by the sound of Cyber's voice telling him to wake up.
<XeroBloodline> When Xero finally does wake up and looks around, he can see a sillouette of Cyber standing on a balcony overlooking the arena, but as soon as Cyber walks forward, he clearly looks different.
<XeroBloodline> His hair is now jet black, his armor is black with gold trim, and his face has peculiar markings over it. Black diamonds over each eye, no pupils, and his lips are black. His skin is much paler now, almost white.
<XeroBloodline> By picking up the Crescent Scythe, Cyber has become the new Black Crescent. See, Black Crescent isn't a single person, Black Crescent is the spirit and evil power possessed in the scythe. The person wielding it is just a host. Cyber is just the newest one in a long line of Black Crescents.
<XeroBloodline> Xero tries to talk to Cyber, but it's almost like Cyber can't even hear him, ignoring everything he says, prattling on about how Xero is a failure, and Xero must die at all costs.
<XeroBloodline> So Cyber's prepared a little trap for him in this underground arena. Xero now has to face 100 Shadows on his own, with no weapons or armor to speak of, and still weakened from nearly dying in a cave in.
<XeroBloodline> This is when I was gonna have a blast, just a big ol' epic battle of Xero being badass, taking down 100 mooks barehanded, each kill getting tougher and tougher to pull off as he's literally fighting with every ounce of his life.
<XeroBloodline> In the meantime, back at the Roadhouse, Amp has fixed himself up and Rene's treated himself enough to go back out and look for Xero and Cyber. This entire time they've been trying to grill Shadobane for information. Who is he, why did he help them, what was he doing out there anyway?
<XeroBloodline> Shadobane never really gives a direct answer, but lets enough information slip that no one else should know. He knows Cyber was looking for the Crescent Scythe, he said he came to help prevent that because he knew the dangers Black Crescent presented, but unfortunately he showed up a little too late.
<XeroBloodline> So while Amp and Rene are all geared up and ready to go hunt for the brothers, Shadobane manages to convince them that they're still not rested up enough to go help. Amp then notices that, despite all his talk and effort, Shadobane's not looking too good either. He's actually kinda winded and out of breath still, even though it's been a few hours since they escaped.
<XeroBloodline> Anyway, through some specific arguments I don't exactly remember, Amp and Shadobane agree that while they might not be in the best shape to hunt for Xero and Cyber, they mutually know one person that is perfect for the job...
<XeroBloodline> Meanwhile, back at the underground arena, Xero is on his last leg fighting these Shadows on his own, down to only a few left, but he's barely standing, completely exausted from the fight.
<XeroBloodline> Cyber jumps down from his perch, scythe in hand, ready to close in and deal the final blow to Xero...when at the last second...
<XeroBloodline> Some random purple gooey bastard and his bodyguard bursts through the wall and save the day.
<Xzero> probably some gaylord
<Nightmare>

<XeroBloodline> Turns out Shadobane knew Nightmare and Neoforte pretty well, and was quite easily able to convince them to use their resources to track down Xero's location and rescue him.
<Nightmare> BFFs for life.
<XeroBloodline> Honestly, I can't remember if Spex was part of the rescue party or not, but for right now we'll say Nightmare and Neoforte were more than enough.
<XeroBloodline> Neoforte quickly dispatched the remaining Shadows while Nightmare threw a few attacks at Cyber to distract him, and the three of them got out just as quickly as they arrived.
<Nightmare> You're welcome.
<XeroBloodline> Canonically, Nightmare kinda owed Xero one anyway, for helping out with the Spex thing, plus Neoforte convinced him to do it, because Shadobane convinced him to do it.
<XeroBloodline> Very specific reason why. I'll get to that.
<Xzero> Crossover!
<Nightmare> Aw yisss
<FDSuprema> For the record, I'm imagining Purple showing up at the last second, Xero making a comment that Nightmare's late, and Nightmare giving the Timing is Everything line. Cause role reversal is fun.
<Nightmare> 10/10 would write it like that.
<XeroBloodline> So yeah, Xero gets dropped off back at the Roadhouse, Nightmare and Neoforte return home. Honestly, I can't remember if I included them in the upcoming battle or not, cause it could go either way, depending on timeline and continutity between my comic and his and what not.
<Nightmare> I can't remember either to be honest.
<Nightmare> I feel like we were there.
<Nightmare> But I'm not 100% sure.
<Nightmare> I remember the colosseum.
<XeroBloodline> But anyway, Xero, Amp, Rene, and Shadobane are all back at the Roadhouse trying to figure out what to do about Black Crescent. Amp goes off to his basement to work on "something" and Rene goes off...doing something, to give Xero and Shadobane some alone time.
<XeroBloodline> Xero's a little more stubborn than most, so he really hits the questions hard on Shadobane and convinces him to fess up to everything, what was he doing near the mountain, why did he save Rene and Amp, and how does know so much about Black Crescent.
<XeroBloodline> Short version, Shadobane's from the future.
<Nightmare> Mind blooowwwnnn
<Nightmare> What whaaaaat
<Nightmare> Time travel up in this bittccchh
<Xzero> Yeah but i love time Travel
<FDSuprema> Damn it, Trunks.
<XeroBloodline> In Shadobane's time, Amp and Rene don't survive the assault from the Shadows because Shadobane's obviously not there to save them. Which means they're not around to figure out where Xero is.
<XeroBloodline> Which means there's no Nightmare and Neoforte to rescue Xero. However, what happens in the arena is Black Crescent uses the Shadows to push Xero to his breaking point, and right when he moves in for the final blow, Xero finally lets go of you-know-what.
<XeroBloodline> He quits holding back, and taps into his vampiric demonic nature, and lets loose the full power of the Bloody Nightmare.
<Nightmare> Aw shiet.
<XeroBloodline> Which, in the current timeline would have happened too if Nightmare and Neoforte hadn't shown up in time.
<XeroBloodline> But back in Shadobane's time, this was Black Crescent plan all along, to awake the Bloody Nightmare and just unleash him on the world as an uncontrollable destructive force. And that's exactly what he does.
<XeroBloodline> So in Shadobane's time, Black Crescent goes unopposed and takes over the world (of course) while a crazed uncontrolled Bloody Nightmare just kinda wrecks everything in his path. Life kinda sucks.
<Nightmare> I'll say.
<Xzero> So much for aurastones being a problem
<XeroBloodline> So with the help of one such person, say...oh I don't know, Neoforte, Shadobane is trained to defeat Shadows and Black Crescent specifically.
<XeroBloodline> Unfortunately, despite his incredible magic power, which is mysteriously similar to Black Crescent's (hint hint wink wink nudge nudge) he doesn't stand a chance against Black Crescent in his full power.
<XeroBloodline> But he is pretty handy at taking out Shadows. He's the bane of their existance. Thus, Shadobane.
<Nightmare> lawl
<XeroBloodline> Shadobane is not his real name.
<XeroBloodline> His real name is...
<XeroBloodline> ...revealed later. =)
<Nightmare> Hax.
<Paragon> The true answer is Bossman. Always Bossman.
<FDSuprema> I bet it's Trunks.
<XeroBloodline> So yeah, he dumps all this info on Xero because he knows with Xero's help they can stop Black Crescent in this time. See, Shadobane's original plan was to come back in time and prevent Cyber from ever grabbing the scythe in the first place.
<XeroBloodline> But his calculations on his Timestreaming device were off, and he actually arrived at the exact precise second Cyber grabbed the scythe, and the power of Black Crescent was channeled into him.
<XeroBloodline> That's important.
<XeroBloodline> Remember that for much, much later.
<Nightmare> o.o
<XeroBloodline> Anyway, this whole time they're talking, even Xero's starting to notice Shadobane is starting to look worse and worse, instead of better.
<XeroBloodline> This is because in my world, we don't do that whole multiverse bullsh*t.
<XeroBloodline> Shadobane has already altered the events that lead to his existence, and as time goes on further, time is deviating further and further from those events. Which means Shadobane's existence is less and less likely.
<XeroBloodline> So Shadobane is actually very slowly phasing out of existance. Back to the Future style, but more gradual.
<XeroBloodline> He knew this was a one way trip, but it was worth it to save the future from a blood thirsty monster and a tyrannical ruler.
<XeroBloodline> ANYWAY, armed with this information, Xero is determined to stop Cyber and free him from the Crescent Scythe's control, even though they're not 100% sure how.
<XeroBloodline> According to Shadobane, Black Crescent has never willingly surrendered his power, his host has only been killed and the scythe laid dormant.
<XeroBloodline> But, Shadobane also says that, in his time, Black Crescent does still fear the Bloody Nightmare, that he might actually be strong enough to stop him.
<XeroBloodline> This means Xero needs a way to harness that power without going out of control.
<XeroBloodline> LUCKILY Amp is a genius and has been working on an armor for Xero for this very purpose this whole time. Ever since the last Bloody Nightmare incident.
<XeroBloodline> And it just so happens Amp is finishing up that armor as Xero and Shadobane speak.
<XeroBloodline> Convenient, no?
<Nightmare> That is deliciously convinient.
<XeroBloodline> About that time, Renegade comes back and tells them that there's a news report claming an unexplained attack has just occured in the city of Coorhagen, just outside the blah-de-blah Mountains (I don't remember the name). Said mountain is where the Crescent Cave and the underground arena was.
<XeroBloodline> I WONDER WHO IT COULD BE....
<Nightmare> Oh noes.
<FDSuprema> rip
<XeroBloodline> So, Amp's fixed up and finished Xero's new armor, Rene's fully healed and restocked, Xero feels like crap but he's had a drink and a piece of pizza, so he puts on his new armor, grabs the Soul Reaver, and is ready to go meet Black Crescent head on.
<XeroBloodline> Shadobane comes along too, but even at this point he's having trouble staying conscious. So he's not gonna be much use in a fight. But he feels like he has to be there, he helped cause this situation, so he has to see it through.
<XeroBloodline> This makes me think Nightmare and Neoforte might have been there for this fight. Cause we're going up against Black Crescent and his entire army of Shadows. And the three of us don't sound like enough...
<Nightmare> I think we were yeah.
<Nightmare> I remember a big battle.
<XeroBloodline> And I mean an army. LIke, thousands.
<Nightmare> I think we showed up a little later in a ship or with some big weapon or something.
<Nightmare> And blew crap up.
<XeroBloodline> That sounds right.
<XeroBloodline> Anyway, trimming this part up a bit, we get into a big epic battle. Amp and Renegade start mowing down Shadows, and Xero just tears through them now since he's able to use his full power without risk of turning into the Bloody Nightmare. He can cut through these Shadows like they're...shadows.
<XeroBloodline> Eventually he works his way to Black Crescent Cyber, and the two have the most epic battle ever. The Soul Reaver vs the Crescent Scythe, Cyber vs Xero in the fight we should have got when Cyber was first introduced. These two fight all over the city trashing everything in their wake, Shatter Forces and Piercer Forces, Final Flashes and Geyser attacks, til eventually it's down to a slugfest.
<XeroBloodline> Both the Reaver and the Scythe have been knocked away, so Xero and Cyber are literally just punching the hell out of each other in the middle of the city.
<XeroBloodline> All while Nightmare, Neoforte, Amp, and Rene, are still battling the Shadows.
<XeroBloodline> In the middle of all this, Shadobane manages to sneak his way into the city, and while everyone's distracted, he manages to snag the Crescent Scythe...
<Nightmare> ò_ó
<Tony> ...
<Tony> Uhhhhh...
<Tony> This seems...
<Tony> Not good.
<Xzero> I knew it
<Xzero> Dinkleberg...
<XeroBloodline> Immediately Cyber can feel this, and his attention shifts quickly to catch Shadobane to stop him from doing something terrible...
<XeroBloodline> However, I know what you're thinking...
<XeroBloodline> And this is important too, remember this for later...
<XeroBloodline> Shadobane never actually touches the scythe. He uses telekinetic/mind powers/whatever to simply snag it up.
<XeroBloodline> THAT'S IMPORTANT TOO.
<XeroBloodline> Remember that...
* Nightmare adds that to the list of things to remember.
<Tony> Casts Mage Hand... got it.
<XeroBloodline> Also, if any of you have ever bothered to read that list of attacks the Bloodlines have in the dropbox, you'll know Shadobane has a unique power called Shado Banish.
<XeroBloodline> It allows him to absorb energy directed towards him, then channel it into either attacks or crystal spheres he can store and throw at opponents for extra damage.
<XeroBloodline> The important part here, is Shadobane can absorb energy.
<XeroBloodline> Anyway, Cyber knows something is up with the Scythe, so he breaks off from Xero and starts a mad dash towards Shadobane, but Xero is constantly cutting him off, even to the point of literally just grabbing him and holding him down.
<XeroBloodline> Shadobane then pulls out his Timestreaming device. He looks at Xero and Cyber, and explains that he's figured out a way to cut Cyber off from the Scythe's influence and return him to normal.
<XeroBloodline> Shadobane shatters the timestreaming device, releasing the chronoton energy inside of it (because chronotons are what you use in time travel duh) and he uses his Shado Banish technique to absorb this energy.
<XeroBloodline> With his last breath, he tells Xero and Cyber to get out of the city as fast as they can, and that he was glad he got to meet his brothers, his real brothers, one time before he died.
<XeroBloodline> And he says his name is Cail. Cail Bloodline. The third Bloodline brother.
<Nightmare> Bruh.
<Tony> ...
<Xzero> Bloodline brother from the future trained by Neoforte
<Xzero> Awesome
<XeroBloodline> He then quickly tells Xero one last thing, one last request.
<XeroBloodline> He says before Black Crescent took over, he was living a nice peaceful life with his foster family. He asked Xero to hunt him down, find him, and reintroduce him to his long lost brothers.
<XeroBloodline> Then, Shadobane detonates the energy inside of him, creating a massive explosion that starts encompassing most of the city, while Xero is literally dragging Cyber out of the city as fast as he can.
<XeroBloodline> This explosion of chronoton energy actually pulls the entire city of Coorhangen out of time ever slightly.
<XeroBloodline> Which means no one can interact with it. Which means no one can ever get the Crescent Scythe again.
<XeroBloodline> Which means Cyber is cut off from it, and he returns to normal.
<XeroBloodline> Suffice to say everyone else got out of the city too, because yeah.
<XeroBloodline> Cyber painfully remembers everything that happened. But even he admits he wasn't in control. It felt like being in the passenger seat of his own vehicle, he was just along for the ride.
<Nightmare> Shouldn't have touched the murder scythe.
<XeroBloodline> Luckily Xero knows what that feels like, so it's not like he was hard on him about it...
<XeroBloodline> Much later on in quiet alone time, Xero and Cyber are talking about what happened, and begin to think about Shadobane.
<XeroBloodline> And they discuss actually trying to find Cail in their time.
<XeroBloodline> But Xero brings up an very odd yet truthful point. Their life is far from normal. I mean, Cyber showed up and killed Xero, for him to turn into a murderous monster, then when that finally dies down Cyber goes out and tries to turn into a tyrannical power hungry warmonger.
<XeroBloodline> Their family is cursed. If Cail really is out there leading a perfectly normal, peaceful life, then he should be left to it. So they both agree to keep this info to themselves, and let Cail be.
<XeroBloodline> And that is the end of the Black Crescent Arc...
<Nightmare> Dang.
<XeroBloodline> Any questions? Did I miss anything?
<Xzero> Why was Cails hair Purple
<XeroBloodline> Cail's hair is purple for the same reason Cyber's is blonde and Xero's is silver. Genetics.
<Nightmare> Would you say this is canon to the current incarnation of the story, or moreso just to the comic from where it left off?
<XeroBloodline> This story is pretty much the official canon at this point. The only thing that's drastically different is the Reploids aren't a thing, and the Maverick Hunters that put out the bounty on Xero are replaced by pretty much YOUR group of Hunters.
<XeroBloodline> Like I said earlier, the Reploids still exist in this universe, but they've almost all left Earth and kinda keep to themselves.
<Nightmare> Gotcha.
<FDSuprema> Was Xero's armor the Broly Xero armor? Like how Cybers turned his hair into huge broly hair.

When that was not enough, they grew desperate, and prayed to their goddess, the Silver Lady, for strength.
<Alriik> The strength to survive the other elves. So she granted them the Argent Lake. A powerful weapon, with a terrible cost.

<Alriik> A literal silver lake.

<Alriik> Cue 8 generations later, the heir to Altima was born... Less than pure. A half-breed. In attempt to avoid any political strife, his mother offers him to the Argent Lake at the young age, hoping it would take the young boy's life, and leave the throne to his younger, pure-blooded brother.

He was strong. But after being submerged, he knew what his fate would be if he stayed. So the boy prepared the things most precious to him: his uncle's sword, and a locket, the one thing his father left him, the only thing he knew him by.
<Alriik> And he fled the castle at night, wandering to the human lands. To find a home. Because the castle was little more than a dungeon at this point, a place for him to wait for death.

<Sorrum> So, originally. There was a gang on misfits living in some nameless city, stealing every day to survive. It was there that Sorrum, approximately 11 years old at the time, found a home. He didn't have any memory of the past aside from fleeing an orphanage that he was living in. Survival was the main thought for a long time.
<Sorrum> While on a daily run through the market, he was caught and processed at the local police station. His identity went public, and someone, somewhere, took notice. That person happened to be looking for him for a long time. He pushed everything to the side and went to find Sorrum, crossing over the ocean until he came into the town.
<Sorrum> The man attacked him and his friends, and slaughtered all of them, leaving a defenseless Sorrum alive. He cut out one of his eyes and told him that he needed to become strong enough if he wanted to avenge his friends and take back his eye from the man. He then left just as quickly as he came, leaving the kid bleeding out on the street.
<Sorrum> Sorrum was more jostled by this than anything else. Seeking sanctuary, he ran from the town to the mountainside nearby. He had heard that there was a chapel there that aided wayward travelers.
<Sorrum> The chapel was raided by bandits in the middle of the night, however. He was forced into their ranks when he was able to kill two of the bandits. Thus, he became a child soldier. Learned how to fight through them, how to kill. He already knew how to steal so it wasn't all that different too him.
<Sorrum> Fast forward seven years. The bandits fell under bad leadership Some looked to him for guidance, but he wasn't interested. He tricked the ones who followed him into a trap, and turned them over for reward money. Then he set out to across the ocean to find the man who took his eye.
<Sorrum> There was more to it but the RP wasn't exactly designed to flesh out the characters in it other than the guy's running it. The man was going to be revealed as a prophet of the apocalypse who'd been orchestrating events in the background. He wanted Sorrum to lay waste to the land and it's people in an effort to find him as part of his plan.
<Sorrum> And that's that. After the RP ended I didn't really see any opportunities to use him anywhere else.
<Sorrum> I thought it up when I was 15ish, I thought it sounded silly.
<Xzero> I like it. It seems like a legit book
<Xzero> Most teenager oriented ideas can be fleshed out very intelligently as an adult
<FDSuprema> The only parts that I felt were a little weird were the eye stealing(and saying if you want it back find me), and the fact that Sorrum just threw his fellow dudes under the bus after multiple years of hanging out.
<Alriik> I think that was supposed to show how rough he's gotten over the years.
<Sorrum> Part of some eye color magic changing stuff. I remembered his eyes changed colors in battle but that's heavily in reference to Super Saiyans.
<Sorrum> They kinda forced him to kill people too.
<Sorrum> I wanted to retcon it so that the evil prophet visited him in nightmares, he was born into the bandit tribe, and also no missing eye.
<Sorrum> Left eye missing, in case you were wondering.
<Sorrum> Seemed more humane at the time to give him the option of sparing opponents since the RP leader was super sensitive about you beating up his characters without permission.
<Sorrum> it was my first rp on the internet i just wanted to have fun

<Tony> It's kinda multipurpose. Energy blast I've covered... they can make barriers... they can also use it enhance themselves further for a short time...
<Swim> So, Nightmare's comic made me think of Tony as strictly a mage but everything since then has made me think he's some type of warrior. What's your class?
<Tony> Spellsword.
<Nightmare> Tony has always been kind of a warrior and mage cross. I just went more with his magic in my comic cause I wanted something different from the other battles in that arc honestly.

<Vile> I had 2 really, nothing super extreme. Just a bit to maybe get me into the ZV world as I kinda always felt left out in the carnival comic events.
<Vile> The first one was just like a basic kinda cool origin story, fighting against a kingdom with you lot, taking out some master baddie. Establishing that in our comics I would have lighting based powers and a calvary saber.
<Vile> I had mock up's of like generic soliders and what not. In the end it would be me against my brother whom I completely loath. Xero was going to show up at some point and bring the pain like Thor (Ragnarok) did in the civil war comic
<Vile> A few set backs were time and I lack photoshop skills for effects. I can do the blur dashing deals, but glowing and such not my thing. I am also a piss poor artist so I couldn't do cool upclose shots like you lot
<Nightmare> I think you hold yourself to too high a standard.
<Nightmare> You don't need those things to make a good comic.
<XeroBloodline> For what it's worth, I never actually used photoshop in my comics.
<XeroBloodline> I had a similar and much more user-friendly program back in the day.

<Vile> lets see. Brother took power in the kingdom we were from because I didn't want the title of king. Was kinda hellbent on some warpath. I tried to talk him out of it but to no anvil. He set his sights on us. Few battles of all times were going to come into play, assults, stealth, ect. Each one focusing on a unique ZV'er.
<Vile> I did have planned for Sorrum to be the.... what do you call secondary main character? it has a title and I am blanking

<Vile> Essentially he was going to be my basic bitch. I only made a few poses for him in my spare time so that was another part of why I never made this.

I had a story drafted in my head how him, me, and Albireo Were out like shopping in the ZX1 city. Sorrum meets a girl, like hers, date ensues and then BOOM, he has to defeat all her evil ex's. Essentally with myself and Al for support. 90% of the comic was him going for it, and me just spouting witty one liners about the situation.

<Swim> So I'm not really sure where to begin with mine, I've posted up a lot of it over the years, including some fairly recently but I'm not sure if anybody reads those.
<Swim> Refined and retconned some stuff but the basic plot is the same.
<Nightmare> I remember the Swim's Shorts.
<Swim> Yeah, I posted one last week. I started doing those because I wanted to type out significant events that I figured I'd never get to through an RP or a full story.
<Swim> They're kind of scattered throughout my timeline and kind of jump around, but I pretty briefly give the setting before each one.
<Nightmare> Well you can briefly summarize some stuff and then go into more detail about stuff you haven't shared yet maybe?
<Swim> So the basic universe is MMX, post X8 and I try to flesh out that world a bit more. There are several main arcs, each with their own villain.
<Nightmare> So is it kind of like a post Sigma thing then?
<Swim> Sigma pops up once or twice because that guy never stays dead, but really only to further the plot. Like when he flattens MHHQ and kills Tank.
<Swim> I invented a couple other villains who are more direct enemies to Jet.
<Alriik> Post X8... So I'm assuming more Lumine?
<Swim> Not Lumine, but I did a lot with the New Gen reploids.
<Swim> For example, when I was organizing the timeline I decided to pick up directly after X8 with Jet's 'mother' Tristy.
<Swim> Who was a New Gen rep.
<Nightmare> I vaguely remember Tristy but I don't remember her deal exactly.
<Nightmare> What do you mean by "mother"?
<Swim> So Jet's creator was a guy named Prowers, and Tristy was his bodyguard/lab assistant along with this other New Gen guy called Viktor.
<Nightmare> Ahh.
<Swim> One day Prowers gets this large package in the mail from his collegue Dr. Ziedler in Germany. He's shipped him an unfinished reploid with an experimental new energy core, along with some non descript message for safe keeping.
<Swim> By the time it gets there Ziedler is found brutally murdered and so Prowers starts working on finishing this reploid, which later becomes Tank.
<Nightmare> Yay Tank.
<Swim> A little while later Prowers' lab gets attacked by this same group, Viktor goes awol presumed dead and Tristy badly injured, and so she and Prowers move into MHHQ until Tank can be completed, and Tristy joins the Hunters for a time since Prowers is pretty well protected now.
<Nightmare> So all of these dudes are reploids right?
<Nightmare> Just to clarify.
<Swim> Yeah, sent by a maverick called Lucien Elexandre, and we'll get into him later. He saw Tank was gonna be strong and wanted him in his army.
<Vile> At least, I have never thought of him any more than a human
<Swim> Prowers is a human doctor.
<Nightmare> Gotcha.

<Swim> So Tristy's got her own long story but at the end of it Tank is finished, Prowers is gonna let the Hunters have him and they go back to civilian life.
<Swim> During this time Prowers is also making Sub and Jet.
<Swim> The idea behind Sub was someone to work under the surface, be a mercenary, have connections that official channels like Hunters wouldn't. He came out a snarky rebel who hated authority and wanted to be his own boss.
<Vile> Wasn't H a part of this party?
<Swim> H isn't very important Vile, not in this context.
<Swim> And Jet was something of a middle ground between Tank and Sub.
<Swim> Anyway, Prowers is going to turn Tank over to the Hunters but before they do Viktor comes back, angry about being left for dead and being a Lumine sympathizer, he kicks the crap out of Tristy and runs off with her after Prowers activates Tank.
<Swim> And Jet is lying there half finished on a lab table, but this is his very first memory.
<Vile> What a dick!
<Swim> You can read a little bit more about that in the Crystal Huntress short if you want, but that's the Prologue as it were.
<Nightmare> That's interesting.
<Swim> Fast forward, Jet and Sub are up and running, Jet joins the Hunters, saves the world once or twice, gets promoted to Captain and put in charge of a unit.
<Nightmare> So Jet's in charge of his own unit and being cool and stuff.
<Swim> Some time in there Jet starts ruining the plans of this maverick Faustus and later his boss Dagmor, who had this lance that worked kind of like the one ring, guy couldn't die because he backed himself up in his weapon.
<Swim> Eventually Jet goes after him with his buddy Frost Reaver, and also Xero was in town and helped out. Three of them kill Dagmor a little bit but Faustus escaped.
<Swim> So Faustus gets himself this gun, and a particular strain of maverick virus that basically kills immunity and lays waste to a town. The gun is designed to pull the life force out of reploids, his objective being to harvest enough life to revive Dagmor.
<Swim> This is part of the Tragedy of Unit 6 short, Jet goes to stop him and Sub takes the shot for Jet.
<Swim> Jet chases him back to this island where Dagmor gets revived and then Jet has to kill him a second time. This is kind of a coming of age thing because this time he does it without Frost Reaver and Xero.
<Swim> But also Jet goes mia for awhile and everyone thinks he's dead.
<Sorrum> That's upsetting
<Nightmare> In memory of Jet.
<Nightmare> In memory of Jetony*?
<Swim> He's actually saved by this beam of light and put into hibernation for awhile to recover. Because of how many times he'd saved the world at that point, to the point of giving up his life he'd been dragged up to this Sanctuary of Heroes, this floating sky castle or something.
<Xzero> i like that last detail.
<Xzero> Or something
<XeroBloodline> Reploid Heaven?
<Xzero> Nah man. Reploid Asgard
<Nightmare> Nice.
<Swim> Reploid Asgard is close, some kind of Valhalla.
<Swim> At one point I wanted this to be the 'Elder System' they briefly mention in Legends but since they didn't do anything with it I would.
<Nightmare> But you changed your mind?
<Swim> Didn't really develop it far enough, just a basic idea.
<Nightmare> That would have been cool though.
<Swim> Anyway, while he's there Jet gets his signiture weapons, a pair of beam swords that are powered by his own inner fire/willpower/determination.
<Swim> At one point much later someone tries to stab him with his own sabers but there's no flame unless Jet's hand is gripping it.
<Swim> Anyway Jet isn't the only hero up there, dozens of reploids and humans had been called on over the years. You go up there twice, once to get your weapon and once when you're killed. And then your body is crafted into a weapon for the next chosen hero.
<XeroBloodline> Neat.
<Swim> At this point Jet is kind of in suspended animation for awhile and the story's focus switches over to Tank.
<Swim> Tank had been hibernating for awhile and when he wakes up he's kind of pissed to find Sub dead and Jet mia, presumed dead.
<Swim> So he goes rogue for awhile, and over time his own signiture weapon, this enormous broadsword called Judgment stops working for him. All of a sudden he can't lift the sucker, which sounds kind of like Thor's hammer and all but I made this stuff up before I got into comics.
<Swim> Jet eventually comes back, and it's another coming of age thing where Jet is helping Tank find his way, kind of a role reversal from Tank being the older brother/mentor figure.
<Nightmare> So what he got too dickish and the sword told him to f**k off?
<Swim> Yeah.
<Swim> It's kind of a common theme with us, our weapons having their own personalities and sh*t.
<Swim> XD
<Xzero> I like it
<Xzero> One of the best old stories around. The sword Chose Arthur after all
<Swim> The next arc involves Viktor again leading a bunch of New Gen dickwads who can shapeshift into any form, and this becomes a problem because they can infiltrate all levels of government.
<Swim> This leads to the Hunters scaling back their larger units into smaller squads, the idea being those are more close knit and harder to impersonate someone.
<Swim> But that also makes them weaker, and so after eventually defeating Viktor (as well as being forced to kill Tristy) Sigma comes back armed with Cyber Elves and flattens everything.
<Swim> The Hunters are almost completely destroyed and so the mavericks are fighting over themselves for power. This is when Lucien Elexandre makes a play and Jet has to go and fight him while X takes the Mother Elf and goes after Sigma.
<Swim> I wrote about that portion in Faster, Higher, Stronger, where he fights Olympus Team, and then Tempest Clash where he finishes things with Lucien, who had been pulling the strings since before he was born with trying to abduct Tank and such.
<Sorrum> Jet was able to overcome though, I'm sure.
<Xzero> Not that it matters. But what X is this
<Xzero> Like does this take into account command mission as cannon as a presumed future or normal x
<Swim> Normal X, I was trying to segway into the Elf Wars here.
<Nightmare> I think this is just like normal MMX X in the gap between X8 and the Zero series.
<Swim> Yeah, since I start after X8.
<Swim> The thing about Lucien Elexandre was he was once part of the Heroes Sanctuary and gradually corrupted, so he built kind of a seal around his own weapon so that he could continue to use it after becoming a dick.
<Swim> Yeah, so Elf Wars. All the Hunters are dead for the most part. A couple survive and there are various adventures.
<Swim> I was going to write this part jointly with Draconis if you guys remember Dray.
<Nightmare> I remember Dray.
<Nightmare> How would he have played into this?
<Swim> Jet joined up with his squad for awhile, have various adventures together before getting seperated in that f**king desert.
<Swim> Then our stories diverge into two timelines, if you remember Dray's story it was X who was sleeping and Zero ruling Neo Arcadia, I stuck closer to the setting of the games.
<Nightmare> Right.
<Swim> But I wanted to keep Ultros and Zera because I thought they were really cool characters.
<Nightmare> Yeah Dray had some cool characters. I miss that guy. Wonder what happened to him.
<Nightmare> something to think about later.
<Swim> Anyway, Jet survives the Elf Wars, briefly becomes a Guardian to Copy X due to his history with the Hunters but quickly realized what a dick Copy X was and helped out the resistance secretly.
<Swim> Zero blows up Ragnarok, Jet lives, realizes he's probably the oldest living reploid at this point and after working to re-establish settlements and bring peace between the races he decides he's lived long enough.
<Swim> So with Ciel's help he becomes the first reploid to take on a mortal lifespan and after a couple of years of happiness, he passes away.
<Xzero> Can you elaborate on how he took the lifespan
<Xzero> What does that mean exactly
<Swim> Between MMZ and ZX all the humans and reploids become one population. Humans start getting cyber enhancements, reploids start disarming and having set lifespans.
<Swim> And eventually you get the 'carbons' that populate the Legends series.
<Xzero> Maybe im just having a hard time understanding how you can make a reploid more mortal
<Xzero> Then again ive always had trouble with that
<Swim> I didn't make this sh*t up, ZX did.
<Xzero> I know, I just didnt know if you came up with your own

<Nightmare> I mean, it's not that complicated.
<Nightmare> You program them to shut down after x amount of time.
<Nightmare> Or manufacture them like cell phones.
<Swim> I just decided that what reploid would willingly give up their power and succomb to mortality? I figured someone needed to go first, and it made sense that it be Jet.
<Swim> Cuz he'd been fighting for so long, let him have a few years of happiness before dying peacefully.
<Xzero> Thats a fitting end.
<Nightmare> Seems like a good ending.
<Nightmare> Dude has seen some sh*t.
<Swim> Although he did father some kids in a sort of 'les enfantes terribles' fashion that f**k up the world into ZX, because of course.
<Nightmare> So does Jet more or less remain the same or does he get upgraded to kind of go with the new styles of reploids over time?
<Swim> Largely the same appearance, but does manage to upgrade himself to keep pace with newer models.
<Swim> Gets some new powers over time. The most significant upgrade after his signiture weapon was stealing his 'cousin' Altius' gravity manipulation.
<Nightmare> Nice.
<Nightmare> How does that work exactly?
<Swim> Rather than his jets running on fuel he can just use anti-gravity to fly.
<Swim> But also kind of a force choke aspect at close range with single targets.
<Swim> Any other questions about plot? The characters? Abilities?
<Nightmare> I guess I'd like to hear a little bit more about Tristy? Like more about her role and abilities and such.
<Swim> Tristy was a bit of an enigma, even to herself.
<Swim> She was a New Gen reploid that didn't join in with Lumine's uprising. Neither she nor Viktor had been active at the time, though Viktor found out about it later and was kind of upset he hadn't been there to join in.
<Swim> Tristy didn't really care about any of that, she was pretty happy just being Prowers' assistant and even when she joined the Hunters it was only kinda cuz Prowers wanted her to go meet people and not be attatched to his ankle all the time.
<Nightmare> Get out there and kill bad guys, girl. It'll be a good way to get you out of your shell and socializing.
<Swim> Prowers didn't know much about her history, but clearly she had one cuz she came pre-programmed with knowledge of weapons, martial arts, and occasionally her New Gen powers would activate in battle and transform her into this warrior woman neither of them recognized.
<Swim> This new form was covered from head to toe in crystal blue armor, had this weird green mane coming out of the helmet that might have been hair but who knows, and she fought in the same way as Tristy just a little more ferocious.
<Nightmare> Hot.
<Nightmare> Ish.
<Nightmare> Scary too.
<Swim> Eh, who knew what she looked like under the armor, no one wanted to get near and check.
<XeroBloodline> In my head I'm picturing Undyne, just less fish faced. Dunno why.
<Swim> Anyway, after Viktor ran off with her and slapped the slave collar on her she took on this form full time.
<Swim> And then she became his unwilling enforcer during his rise to power, kind of beating the crap out of anyone who crossed him.
<Nightmare> Hella rude.
<Swim> And so when Jet and Tank finally confronted Viktor and he ran out the door but left her to buy time, they had no idea it was their own mother they'd killed until after the fact.
<Swim> Which is the subject of the Crystal Huntress short.
<Nightmare> I need to reread these.
<Swim> As far as powers, she runs on an ice core and uses ice in the majority of her abilities.
<Swim> Primary weapons are a pair of Colt Pythons and an ice staff.
<Nightmare> Yay ice powers.
<Swim> Staff has a blade on one end like a spear, and the other end has this ice crystal which freezes sh*t on contact.
<Swim> But there's a mini blizzard she fires from her palm, the ground punch shockwave of ice
<Swim> Can encase her body in ice armor
<Swim> Sleep mist
<Swim> It's kind of brutal how she takes apart Tank when they fight.
<Swim> But yeah, she was the mother figure to Jet, kind of the Boss to his Naked Snake.
<Swim> Had a whole bunch of adventures before he was even up and walking.
<Swim> Did you see the part about Jet's les enfantes terribles in ZX?
<Nightmare> I did.
<Nightmare> They f**ked sh*t up.
<Swim> Little bastards.
<Swim> Needed Uncle Alex to come along and clean up their sh*t.
<Swim> But that's a whole nother story.
<Swim> Anyway, did that answer your bit about Tristy?
<Nightmare> It did.
<Nightmare> Was very informative thanks.
<Swim> I don't talk about her near as much as Jet and Tank.
<Swim> And Sub died before he got too much screen time, so kinda like Majeh's third brother, the forgotten sibling.

<Bloodbane> So I guess I'll start by saying this much; from all the Gaia stuff I've done over the years (thanks for that btw guys), when I was first starting off RPing I kinda just kept throwing the name Rion Galford at things, so there's probably half a dozen if not more random variants that got buried in random dead stories over the years.
<Bloodbane> Hell, really I'd say the one people know from FFZV is by far the most developed one, to a point where if I was going to I'd certainly build a world and story around that concept.
<Bloodbane> But here's the real funny thing; the name "Rion Galford" technically wasn't even fully my idea.

<Bloodbane> Yeah, it came about when I was part of a gaming community based on playing Samurai Shodown IV online using emulators.
<XeroBloodline> Hah, I knew it.
<Bloodbane> and for some reason one of my buddies decided to make-- Yup.
<Bloodbane> Galford was definitely my main in those days, tended to use Bust more, but anyway.
<Bloodbane> so my friend decides he's going to write this fiction story, and the characters are all based on community members.
<Bloodbane> He basically just asked me to throw a first name at him, and at the time I was on a bit of a Galerians kick after playing one of the games and watching Galerians: Rion (great soundtrack btw, decent retelling of the first game too)
<Bloodbane> but then he ran with it; grabbed a bunch of fighting game character sprites and altered them; Rion was a Ky Kiske recolor.
<XeroBloodline> You know, I can kinda see that in Rion's design now. The white coat and all.
<Swim> Rion has always felt to me like one of those work in progress types of characters and it's been really, really cool to see him come together over the years.
<Bloodbane> Yeah, a lot of Rion's current design is still a bit of an homage to that original one.
<Bloodbane> cause in that story he also had a crazy-powerful light elemental ability, to the point where he lost control and wiped out a town with it, as well as the light-elemental group he was with known as the Shining Swordsmen.
<Bloodbane> and so from what little I remember (there were only a couple chapters my friend made before the group kinda died off), he had his power basically sealed up within a sword he carried.
<Bloodbane> But shortly after that I started getting into spriting on my own, joined ZV, and eventually had a Reploid variant of Rion in DBZV. Wasn't much to him, really, you've seen my sprites over the years.

<Swim> You're kind of a hero to me in that we started learning the basics of spriting around the same time, but you kept at it and quickly surpassed me.
<Swim> It's really been a treat to watch your spriting improve over the years.
<Swim> Showed me that a noob could learn, if only I wasn't so lazy I could make it too.
<Bloodbane> Heh, well... thanks, though I really fell out of it (though honestly I should try my hand at a sprite for FFZV Rion...)
<Bloodbane> But I'll just say this, I really didn't have much of a plan for Rion in those days; the DBZV RP I kinda just bullshitted around to keep with the theme, though as my spriting changed up a bit and I made my first and only scratch sprite was when the character sorta took a shift.
<Bloodbane> but yeah, DBZV and Tales of ZV, really didn't have much planned for Rion aside from going with the flow of the story. That was sorta why I got into spriting, to have something that could be a background character in other folks' comics (I know KO put Rion in one of his)
<Bloodbane> But that story my friend was writing?
<Bloodbane> was actually thinking of having a throwback to that story's events being why Rion was on the run originally in FFZV
<Nightmare> That'd be cool.
<Nightmare> We never got the details of that.
<Bloodbane> Yeah, might be something to have a side-arc on at some point.
<Bloodbane> but anyway... yeah, FFZV's really the one story I've had super long term development in. Gaia RPs are like dust in the wind anymore, people flake all the time and while I go have a general go-to for Rion now, it's still pretty similar to FFZV Rion and I've made other character concepts over the years so I'm not always using Rion.
<Bloodbane> And most of that development was partially Nightmare using Rion as a pretty good way to tie in some of the elements from his comic into the story based on what I read about that last night.
<Nightmare> It was fun working together to flesh out that story and make it relevant to the RP without Nightmare being a main character.
<Bloodbane> But yeah, long story short I wanted Rion to be a character that was more or less distancing himself from a past that was ruined by a significant event, while still having some desire to be a heroic character even though at least originally there's no way he can.
<Nightmare> Kind of a reoccurring trope with his character.
<Nightmare> He plays it well though.
<Bloodbane> As far as other characters... well, Exile from DBZV was pretty much on-the-fly bullsh*ttery, plain and simple. I did refine the character idea a bit but long story short Exile eventually ended up being a character internal to Rion as opposed to external; it wasn't ever really named but Exile would have been the "dark passenger" within Rion, which at least in FFZV was made as a result of
<Bloodbane> Audacity's training but in other RPs has been more or less a manifestation of Rion's Id.
<Bloodbane> There was an RP on Gaia involving superhumans where Rion was captured and in the process Exile was put into a body of his own, and they ended up fighting each other due to the process causing both their bodies to experience degradation from the split, but that was really one of the only Gaia RPs where I was able to really hash out a story for Rion.
<Bloodbane> As far as other characters... well, you have Caine, who kinda just started off as a means to have a character while Rion had made his exit in FFZV. I haven't really used him in much else. I've used the name elsewhere though.
<Bloodbane> There's a selection of characters I tend to use in RPs/stories involving demons and things fighitng against demons, and then there's one character in particular I've used when I feel like doing something in the vein of Rival Schools (with the high school teens fighting and stuff)
<Bloodbane> But that's more or less all forum-RP stuff.
<Nightmare> Damn I forgot about Caine somehow.

<Bloodbane> He's very much an NPC.

<Bloodbane> I do like how he's come along though, he's basically the wacky inventor in a field where you probably wouldn't expect someone to be able to branch out in such a way.
<Nightmare> Yeah he's developed a lot in a relatively short time.
<Nightmare> Considering his appearances in the RP are kind of few and far beween.
<Bloodbane> I'd probably attiribute that to just being a more practiced writer, I basically started RPing on Gaia when you guys introduced me to it...
