well if nothing happens to us, the sun will die out far into the future, and we will all die from that. So if nothing kills us by then, we always have a doomsday to look forward to XD

Following Darkness Delirium - I think not.
The sun is already located in the center of our small solar system from Mercury to Neptune. If that Sun moves, the entire series of orbits of the planets will be messed up. The only part I heard of the Earth's changing due to changing of orbits is taht the Moon is getting farther away from the Earth. What need for does the Sun have to move towards Earth?
Earth is more but the Sun is immensely big. Hence, the iron liquid core of the Sun has far stronger magentic properties than the Earth, therefore theoretically the Earth shouod be attracted to the Sun, but that's not happening is it?
With all due respect, the scientific aspect has its point but most modern scientists had forgotten the divine spiritual aspect of how the universe is run. We are the only species in the entire universe! The universe is ours! No aliens whatever! It has been a divinely given right! And the divine forces alone see to it that the black holes expand but do not reach us at all. Comets pas and go but we only get a glimpse to see them. There's no chance of doomsday or apocalyse hence then.

The sun has a helium core...
and it will expand and engulf our planet when it begins to use up its hydrogen and looses energy.

Wow! My thread is upgraded into the controversial board!! T.T
Okay let me cut my crap here. No one is right or wrong at this statement though. FanWriter may be absolutely wrong. Evidence don't prove all. There are some things happening in this world where even every facts or data you have is not updated with the things happening yet. In the end, the most updated thing in the world for these happenings...is nothing. Till the end, we can only update ourselves with these 'happenings' by experiencing it. But perhaps it's too late by that time.
But we may be wrong. maybe the facts are right after all. Are people superstitious or way too religious? Nobody is sure. Maybe it's true that Earth will maintain its situation and shape for eternity. But yet no one can determine this. So we may as well stick to the facts.
For my opinion, we must change for the better and start to eliminate all those negativities within ourselves. At least when there is Doomsday and it happened, we can go to heaven =D. If there isn't Doomsday...well...at least you cahnged for the better!! XD

To Msia - fudge your religious crock.
Science has proven more things over han the bible ever has. The sun IS moving closer to the Earth. One day, it'll get to the point where the sun is too close, thus obliterating the Earth.
I don't feel like arguing with you, since you refuse to argue with scientific backing instead of religious nonsense.

Anything is possible man, so start not to believe too much in informations you get. Because one day, it'll go outdated and all those data you own will go to waste.

Science continually updates itself. Religion stays the same and does nothing for anyone. Religion is a pointless hobby. The Bible is nothing but a good fiction novel, nothing to take to heart. Even the Catholic priests say that everything in the bible should be taken with a grain of salt. So why believe a word from it?
And to end this discussion once and for all. If humans don't destroy the planet itself through their idiocy, and we haven't found a new planet to populate, we've doomed ourselves. If we escape that fate, a star's supernova will destroy the planet. If we escape that and are still on earth. The sun of the Milky Way galaxy is going to expand to the point that it obliterates the earth.
There Doomsday discussion over. We're done.

Nah, these discussions won't be over. Controversial stuff is like never-ending. So i doubt the topic we're discussing will END. Let's just wait until the others reply more. Maybe they'll have more concepts and ideas about this. And i plus that do not post or reply anything until you don't know what you're talking about. The next member to reply...beware!!

To FanWriter: Personally, I'm a Christian, but I trust in science, too. I'm not gonna say I'm a hardcore Christian, because quite honestly I'm not, but I've been saved and baptized and all that stuff. God told us he's gonna come back and take his followers to Heaven. Everyone else is going to Hell. That's when the world ends. That much isn't a metaphor for anything.
On the science side, you can't say that stars live forver. They just don't. The sun will use up it's fuel eventually, then it will collapse, and the solar system will be utterly destroyed. Of course, by that time we may well have mastered lightspeed travel and all that cool stuff, or maybe we'll be able to refuel the sun someday. Only time will tell.
And yes, the sun does have a strong magnetic pull. That's why we aren't aren't flying through space right now. The velocity of the planet and the pull of the sun causes planet to move around the sun in an eliptical fashion.

After retreating for a while and allow the talk to talk itself, I find J.Y.'s counter arguements and Kyoukan's aka Ruinaru's counter arguements most appetizing. The rest I reject due to crude language. Yes, I'm sensitive and I believe manners still hold tight, even in debates. And I can safely say I perfectly understand the viewpoints of JY and Ruinaru.
True, science has proved far more than what the Bible says. But there are also other areas which science has yet to discover which religion has already did. All in all, the use of both religious points and scientific points should be equal and I am very glad someones aound here can do that in a calm and friendly manner towards me.
Please do show an article which states that the Sun is geting closer to the Earth and is thus "causing Doomsday". That'll be interesting to debate and rebuke here. As for teh religion standpoint, I vote in favour for halting it for the time being. Please respect the personal reasons I have for this as this is a matter of one own's mindset, as much as I respect your differing beliefs in religion. Thank you.

I agree with this No species of any animal have ever lived forever, and non will. you can go to heaven or whatever you believe for all I care, but our race wont live forever. what happens after that is up to you (well not really, but it doesnt hurt to pretend).

*cough* I am a Muslim and I do believe in Science and all because most of the sciencetific discoveries are based on the religion itself but Im not pretty sure. As I know, on Judgement Day, the big bang will occurs whereby all the planets will collide with each other and the sun itself will burnout (Im pretty sure.. But I could be wrong). Netherless, no matter what religion we from, most all of the religions in this world believe in Doomsday.
The Earth is the prove itself. As you can see, the pollution is getting worse and there are several signs (as stated in the al-Quran) are already show up. Im no Holy Man but I guess the time is near. But I think the planets hurling to the sun theory might be correct since there are some phrase in the al-Quran stated that there will be a collision. Im not so certain about that.
Thank you.
